With three games in four days on their upcoming pre season tour of Malaysia Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has told the BBC he will assess his squad and make his decision on who will stay and who will leave Stamford Bridge before the upcoming Barclays Premier League season.

New Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is adamant that he will give his players the opportunities to show why they should remain at Stamford Bridge on the clubs upcoming pre season tour of Malaysia.

Numerous players are reportedly unhappy at the clubs decision to sack former manager Carlo Ancelotti and that has led to speculation that players like Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel may be looking to leave.

Of course new boss Andre Villas-Boas may decide that other players are surplus to requirements.

The 33 year old cost Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich a reported £13.3 million, the young manager highly sought after following his stellar season at F.C. Porto where he won the Primeira Liga and the UEFA Europa League.

Now with Chelsea set to face Malaysian clubs Kelantan, Terengganu and Selangor in the space of just four days Villas-Boas will be casting an eagle eye over proceedings, his main tasks to prepare his squad for the upcoming season and also to figure out who figures in his plans and who doesn't.

"These games are very important, not just for the players but for me, I must make sure everyone is prepared both physically and mentally. I need to make decisions very quickly on who I need at the club and see who wants to leave, I must make difficult decisions early in my Chelsea career, but I knew this before I started."

After the clubs tour of Malaysia the Blues will return to London before facing Dutch side Vitesse on the 13th of this month in Arnhem. The club will then embark on a eleven day tour of the United Arab Emirates with fixtures against Al-Ain, Al-Wahda and Dubai arranged. Chelsea kick off their Barclays Premier League campaign with an away trip to Carrow Road to face recently promoted Norwich City on the 13th of August.
Sorry everyone for keeping on starting new threads but I aim to make this British Steel Challenge last me a very long time. Hopefully I will have enough to complete it. I will be carrying on my Queens Park Rangers story aswell. This challenge seems very exciting to me and I can't wait to start it. The leagues that I have loaded are the English, Scottish, Northern Irish, Irish and Welsh from the lowest leagues possible. I am obviously starting with Sunday League Reputation. The club that I am going to start with is Llanelli in the Welsh Premier Division. Another mini-challenge I have set myself is that I must actually win the league and not either be promoted through play-offs or automatically. Once I have won a League/Trophy it will be highlighted to show I have completed that section.

Today Reading FC announced that manager Brian McDermott would be leaving the club after nearly 11 years of service. McDermott who started as a coach in September 2001 at the Madejski worked a number of backroom positions before eventually taking the managerial position in January 2010. McDermott led Reading to a 9th place finish in his first season (09/10) as manger and was given another year to help the side push for promotion. The following season (10/11) McDermott guided Reading to a 5th placed finish qualifying for the play-offs. After an emphatic 3-0 victory over Cardiff in the semi’s Reading fans felt heartbreak as they witnessed their side falter in the final losing 4-2 to Swansea.

McDermott said today he felt with the quality of sides in the Championship it would be difficult for Reading to achieve promotion. This being the case McDermott decided to call it a day and step down as Reading manager.

Reading chairman Sir John Madejski wasted no time finding a replacement as he announced that unknown manger Michael Mul would be the replacement for outgoing manager Brian McDermott. Mul has no experience in management but it is said that John Madejski was taken aback by Mul’s knowledge of the game and was excited to hear what he had planned for the club.

12/07/2011

A busy four days for new manager Michael Mul as he secures three loan signings. Reading moved quickly to secure the services of Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba from Manchester United and u-21 England international Danny Rose from Tottenham.
Mul stated that Rose and Morrison would provide cover in the wide positions whilst Pogba would fight for a first-team spot in central midfield.

Speaking to BBC Sport Michael Mul said Pogba was a wonderful talent and he felt the young Frenchman would provide the necessary steel next to midfield playmaker Jem Karacan.

19/07/2011

Fans worry as the exodus begins. After securing three quality loan signings Reading fans felt somewhat settled following the arrival of unknown manager Michael Mul.
But in a bizarre turn of events Mul has decided to sell two of the clubs best assets; 28 year-old Brian Howard and 27 year-old Jimmy Kebe have left the club in deals believed to be worth a combined £4.4m.

Mul has since said that given the ages of the players and what was being offered he couldn’t refuse. Mul continued by saying that a substantial amount of the money made available from these transfers will be used to re-build the side.

20/07/2011

Reading fans fury at ‘waste of money signing’. Reading fans were said to be deeply upset that Michael Mul had spent a large chunk of their summer transfer kitty of Barnsley forward Danny Haynes. 23 year-old Haynes has joined Reading on a four year deal believed to worth £1.1m. Haynes is Mul’s first signing and for many Reading fans it is a worrying sign of things to come.

Michael Mul dismissed fan’s concerns stating that he felt Danny was the perfect player for Reading and that his attributes would complement the sides’ style of football. Despit no having a prolific scoring record Mul backed Haynes to challenge for the Championship’s golden boot award.

Speaking at a press conference Mul said ‘Danny is a great player with bags of pace. He is very direct and has all the attributes required to frighten any Championship defence. The criticism of this transfer is in my opinion completely over the top. I have no doubt fans and pundits alike will view this as a bargain come the end of the season.’

31/07/2011

Marquee signing for the Royals. Reading FC announced earlier today that 28 year-old South African international Teko Modise has agreed a three year deal with the club. Modise has joined from ASBA Premiership side Sundowns in deal reported to be worth £3m.

Talking to reporters Reading manager Michael Mul said he was delighted Teko had agreed terms and was looking forward to working with him.

In other news Reading have secured the future transfer of former Brazilian international Rivaldo. 39 year-old Rivaldo will join up with his new teammates in January.

Michael Mul said that given Rivaldo’s age he couldn’t be expected to play every game but he would provide great cover. Mul said ‘We’re delighted to have signed Rivaldo. He is still in great shape and we be a great addition to the squad especially as we may lose key players to the African Cup of Nations’.

Not Quite Total Football

1971...1972...1973

Three years in which an Ajax side playing Rinus Michels' philosophy of Total Football, inspired by the wonderful Johan Cruyff, dominated Europe, winning the European Cup each time. Ajax remain the most successful side in the Netherlands, Dutch champions 22 times but have only added one more European Cup to their trophy cabinet, when they had another prodigiously talented squad including the likes of Edwin Van Der Sar, Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf and the De Boer brothers. Success has been at a premium in recent years with only one league title in the last 7 years (2010-2011).

Johan Cruyff may have been the most famous of the three-in-a-row side but Ruud Krol, Johan Neeskens, Arie Haan and Johnny Rep are all famous in their own right. One name that has perhaps become forgotten to the general public is that of Piet Keizer. A one-club man, he has the 4th highest number of appearances for the Amsterdam club and scored 146 goals in a 15-year spell. He was key to the Total Football philosophy, forming a deadly understanding with the aforementioned Cruyff and was captain of the 1972 team.

Keizer never went into first-team management but has often been critical of the path the club has taken. And it is as him that I intend to restore Ajax to glory, trying to bring the club back to the ways of Rinus Michels himself. Pure Total Football may not be completely possible in today's game but I intend to implement a free-flowing hybrid and bring European and domestic success to this proud club.

Ajax have always been known for having a fantastic academy and I intend to keep as many promising young players as possible. Too many talented players like Wesley Sneijder, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Thomas Vermaelen, Luis Suarez and Maarten Stekelenburg have left in recent years and to be able to keep players of this calibre and attract others of top quality to the club, I will need to increase the reputation of the Dutch league. My tactics will be free-flowing and attacking-oriented, aimed specifically on creating space and chances in attacking areas, and I will want all my players to be comfortable on the ball and able to attack and defend as needs must. As of now, I'm not sure how far I'll go with this...it may take time for the tactic to fully work but I'm going to win at least one Champions League and restore dominance in Holland itself. Three-in-a-row might be a feat too far in the modern game but I definitely want to make Ajax a major European force once again.

Notes:

1. I'm not the greatest at FM, I'm of a decent enough standard, but having read some careers on here, some people are just out of my league, turning everything they touch to gold. I'm not like that so this challenge may take longer than it would for some. It may not be that hard as Ajax are just after winning the league and a reasonably strong European team but I'm not going to start going defensive in any games. My players will always attack and they will fit my system or leave. And I know Cruyff was sulky players but I'm not sure if I have the patience for whining, I might just sell the moaners, we'll see how it goes.

2. I would ask people to refrain from recommending players as potential transfers. I don't want to know which players always turn out top class in the game...I like the added realism of using my own knowledge and judgement, plus using the scouts (who usually deliver in any case).

3. Oh...and I don't actually have the game as of yet. But I'm expecting someone to end it up giving it to me for Christmas. And Christmas Day is pretty non-eventful in the early part bar the stuffing myself with food part so I'll probably start it then and get well into it. If I don't get it...well this may be delayed until I do purchase it

Three Dutch Champions League Winners

Okay, so this is my first career ever. I hope i will enjoy it and if i am really lucky you might just enjoy it too.
I got my inspiration from TheDerbyJacks's The Pilgrimage and will try to use the same style for my updates.

The previous FM game i played was 2008 and on that i tried to win the Champions League with FC Twente i tried that for about 9 seasons and then i found out your league's reputation doesn't climb and that made it too hard for me.
Now i have switched to FM2012 and they promised me that they have a dynamic league reputation which will allow me to bring glory to the Dutch clubs (again).
My goal is to win the Champions League with three different Dutch clubs and hopefully crank up the reputation of the Eredivisie.

My local team is FC Twente so i will be starting there. The first season will be calm as i have missed some FM editions and will probably need some time to figure out how everything works.

Quote

FC Twente is a Dutch professional football club from the city of Enschede, playing in the Eredivisie. The club was formed in 1965 by the merger of 1926 Eredivisie Champions, Sportclub Enschede and Enschedese Boys. They are the current holders of KNVB Cup and Johan Cruijff Schaal trophies, and were Eredivisie champions in the 2009–10 season; the team have also finished as Eredivisie runners-up thrice, were runners-up in the UEFA Cup 1974–75, and have won the KNVB Cup three times. Twente's home ground since 1998 is De Grolsch Veste.

When i take over, Twente have just lost their best two players. Bryan Ruiz to Fulham and Theo Janssen to Ajax. So it would be a good idea to invest in some attacking creativity. Though i have faith in my players (and no faith in my transfer market skills) and won't be looking to make big signings unless i sell.

This was my preseason:

Not the best of preseasons. The tactic i made did not work at all. I tried to sort out my tactics with "new" tactics maker which didn't really work for me. So after this preseason i changed it. With a little outside help.

After this preseason i lost my best defender. Douglas to Malaga who decided to pay 6,5 million for him. I don't really need the money, but it could give me some flexibility should i come across a really good player. My backup CB, Bengtsson, is more than capable of covering for him.

My transfer activity:

The other signing is adding some depth to my midfield. Rated 4,5 stars potential this player is the perfect backup to Wout Brama in the Defensive Midfield Position. Here are his stats
Davide Timmermans is a free transfer. Rated 3,5 stars by my scouts i decided to go for it. But i don't have really high hopes for the guy. He is in my under 19 squad for now.
