CELTIC’S title hopes took nothing more than a slight knock at the weekend due to the disappointing 1-1 home draw with Dundee United and no-one knows that more than Cha Du-Ri.

The Hoops’ South Korean defender and his team-mates were left deflated by the Tannadice side’s 93rd-minute equaliser with practically the last touch of the ball, but there is a determination within the squad to overcome the setback.

Speaking after the game the defender said: “The difference is only three points and we still have three more games against Rangers so everything is open. We have a good team and play good football. I'm sure we will win the championship. We are disappointed with the draw against United but need to move on."

With just three points of a gap at the top in November and still two dozen games still to go, Cha and his team-mates are more than confident the title is still well within their grasp, but he rued the missed chances by the Hoops in front of the United goal.

He added: “We had enough chances but we didn’t get the goals and they scored in the last second. If you watch the games, including this one, we were excellent in the first half. We played well and had a lot of chances but didn’t score a second goal."

Rumours are mounting that highly talented young Stags defender Tom Naylor is interesting Championship side Leeds United....

Balotelli caught throwing darts

Manchester City are to hold a meeting on Monday to discuss Mario Balotelli's disciplinary issues after he was caught throwing darts from a first-floor window.

Balotelli said in The People that he threw the darts in the direction of youth players because he was "bored". Nobody was hurt during the incident and ESPNsoccernet has been informed that the club view the incident as a misguided prank rather than a serious transgression.

However, Balotelli has continued to attract negative press since leaving Inter in the summer and was fined two weeks' wages for his dismissal in the Europa League game against Dynamo Kiev. Roberto Mancini held the forward responsible for City's failure to overturn the 2-0 deficit from the first leg and described his actions as "stupid".

ESPNsoccernet understands that Mancini was not aware of this latest incident on Sunday morning as he had been away from the club, but there was due to be a conversation between the board and the manager on Monday to bring him up to speed.

A club spokesman said: "The matter will be dealt with internally."

At least 73 people have been killed in clashes between rival fans following a football match in the Egyptian city of Port Said, state television reports.

The deaths occurred as supporters invaded the pitch after a match between top-tier clubs Masry and al-Ahly on Wednesday.

It is feared the death toll could rise as at least 156 people have been hurt.

It is the biggest disaster in the country's football history, said the Egyptian deputy health minister.

"This is unfortunate and deeply saddening," Hesham Sheiha told state television.

Some of the dead were security officers, the Associated Press news agency quoted a morgue official as saying.

The BBC's Jon Leyne in Cairo says it appears some fans had taken knives into the stadium.

Our correspondent says the lack of the usual level of security in the stadium might have contributed to the clashes.

Police in Egypt have been keeping a much lower profile since last year's popular protests that ousted President Hosni Mubarak from power.

Egyptian fans are notoriously violent, says our correspondent, particularly supporters of al-Ahly known as the Ultras.

They have been heavily implicated in confronting the police during political recent political protests, our correspondent adds. There is speculation that the security forces may have had an interest in taking on al-Ahly supporters.

Bitter rivalry

Wednesday's violence broke out at the end of the match, which, unusually, Port Said side Masry won 3-1.

Witnesses said the atmosphere had been tense throughout the match - since an al-Ahly fan raised a banner insulting supporters of the home team.

A small group of riot police tried to protect the players, but were overwhelmed.

Part of the stadium was set on fire.

Officials say most of the deaths were caused by concussions, deep cuts to the heads and suffocation from the stampede.

Helicopters have been sent to Port Said to transport injured fans.

"This is not football. This is a war and people are dying in front of us," al-Ahly player Mohamed Abo Treika said.

A member of parliament for for Port Said, Albadry Farghali, blamed security forces which "did this or allowed it to happen".

"The men of Mubarak are still ruling. The head of the regime has fallen but all his men are still in their positions," he said on television.

"Where is the security? Where is the government?"

In Cairo, another match was halted by the referee after news of the Port Said violence. It prompted fans to set parts of the stadium on fire.

All premier-league matches have been cancelled and the newly-elected Egyptian parliament is to hold an emergency session on Thursday.

Following the acrimonious Oasis split in 2009, Noel Gallagher told his version of events on Wednesday as he announced his first debut album since the band broke up.

The 10-track LP, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, will be released on 17 October on his own label, Sour Mash Records. A second, more "out there" album will follow in 2012, Gallagher said.

During a funny and it times poignant press conference at the Electric Cinema in London's Notting Hill, Gallagher talked about the dramatic bust up with his brother Liam, just before the band were due

on stage in Paris for the Rock en Seine festival in August 2009.

Asked why he had had enough of Oasis, Gallagher answered. "I hadn't had enough of Oasis, I had had enough of Liam."

Gallagher described a fierce argument that saw Liam "wielding a guitar like an axe".

"He was quite violent. At that point there was no physical violence but there was a lot of World Wrestling Federation stuff, he was like Randy Savage or something. It was an unnecessarily violent act and he nearly took my face off […] I was like, you know what, I'm f*cking out of here."

Gallagher said he regretted the manner in which he left Oasis. "We only had two gigs left." If he had stayed, the singer said, perhaps the band could have discussed their problems and avoiding splitting up. "But then Liam always said he would bring down Amageddon." He added: "Liam doesn't like me. I don't get on with him but he doesn't like me in a very violent way […] I did everyone a favour when I left."

Gallagher said his new album would appeal to Oasis fans, but it was not "stadium rock". "It's not very Guitar Hero," he joked. The album, recorded in London in 2010 and completed in Los Angeles was produced by Gallagher and David Sardy, who he has worked with before.

Commenting on his 18-track collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous, due in 2012, Gallagher said:

"It's really f*cking far out man. It's the furthest out I've ever been. It's good though."

Gallagher said he would be touring soon after the first album, and promised fans he would also play Oasis classics. "They are my songs and I wrote them all by myself. I'm proud of them and of what they mean to people. I'll never do a gig without playing them, they're like drugs to me," he said.

Gallagher also discussed long-term tensions between the brothers during their time in Oasis. A feud had developed between the pair after Liam created his own label and wanted to advertise in Oasis gig programmes. "I didn't think it was right for him to be flogging his gear to our fans," said Gallagher.

The final blowout had its origins in Liam's no-show for the V festival in 2009, said Gallagher. "He didn't turn up because he had a hangover," said Gallagher. "He said he had laryngitis, but whatever."

Liam then blamed Noel for negative comments that emerged in the press, "because he thinks I'm some kind of puppet master and I control the British press", he said.

Asked about Liam's comments that he was "better off" without his brother, Gallagher said. "I'm sure he is. Am I better off? I don't know […] I never really saw myself as a frontman, I can see it being a major pain in the arse. He's better off without me because he's in charge now. Whether I am better off without him remains to be seen."

A revamped Argentine first division championship devised for the 2012-13 season looks set to guarantee relegated giants River Plate a rapid return to the top flight.
On Monday, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced it would unite the teams from the country's top two divisions into one next year, combining all 20 from the top flight and 16 or 18 from the second tier.
The teams are then likely to be divided into regional groups.
AFA spokesman Ernesto Cherquis Bialo told reporters the championship format "must be ratified by the AFA's executive committee" with a decision expected on Oct. 18.
River were relegated for the first time in their 110-year existence last month and will spend next season in the Nacional B division and provided they avoid the bottom two places, should bounce right back if the new format is confirmed.
