Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Saturday, November 4 2006
Coca-Cola league one – match day seventeen

Posted Image V Posted Image

An Ian Moore debut goal wasn’t enough to see Nottingham Forest pick up a valuable three points at Bournemouth as they where forced to settle for just a point at the Fitness First stadium in front of over six and a half thousand supporters.

Ian Moore came close with four minutes gone when he could have got his debut goal but he had seen his header get tipped over the crossbar from Baker in the home goal, good chance for Forest.

A turn from Crooks on nine minutes saw Tim Krul palm his shot over the crossbar as it remained goalless early days but it’s been a better start than in Forest’s couple of encounters, which has been bad.

A long great ball found James Hayter in space, which saw him run in and lash his shot over the crossbar when he had a bit more time and could have been more careful with fourteen minutes on the clock.

A good turn and shot from Kris Commons went over the crossbar as it never really troubled the Bournemouth goalkeeper but it would have if he kept it down and it was still nil-nil on seventeen minutes.

A sharp turn saw Ian Moore get away from his marker and let him have a run on goal and he coolly slotted the ball past the home goalkeeper and Nottingham Forest led and Ian Moore had got a goal on his debut on twenty-four minutes.

The home side almost made responded immediately when Hayter blazed his shot over the crossbar from just inside the eighteen-yard box and it came within two minutes of the Forest goal through Moore.

A flick into Fadiga with the first chance of the second half but his drive was tipped over the crossbar as Nottingham Forest really needed to add a second goal to kill the league one game off.

A Simmonds cross found O’Leary but he couldn’t keep his header down and it went over the top of the crossbar with fifty-six minutes gone at the Fitness First stadium in Bournemouth with Forest will leading.

A free kick saw an unidentified Forest player see his header get tipped over the crossbar but unfortunally the camera man didn’t see who it was, but I think it was Grant Holt as he was in and around the area.

A ball was played towards Steven Fletcher who really should have gotten the equaliser but somehow he screwed his shot past the post when he should have hit it first time and maybe it could have been a different outcome.

The equaliser came with five minutes remaining when Steven Fletcher picked up the ball and he smacked it towards goal and it had already beaten Tim Krul before he could have got anywhere near the ball.

A great ball out to Grant Holt two minutes into added time at the end saw him dribble towards goal but he had put the ball over the top, it could have been special goal and the winning goal.

A minute later, Forest had another chance to win the match when Ian Moore this time was played and he had just missed the top corner by about inches and it was so close to the winning goal again.

The full time whistle was blown at The Fitness First Stadium and Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest saw each team draw one each as Nottingham Forest proved no pushovers at all today as they rose up to sixteenth.

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Lancaster City
Saturday, November 11 2006
FA Cup first round

Posted Image V Posted Image

Nottingham Forest deserved more goals this afternoon against Conference North opponents in Lancaster City but they still advanced by two goals to nil today at the City Ground on a day that Vegard Heggem announced a new tactic to try and sort out his league form.

They took the lead inside the first minute at the City Ground when Nathan Tyson flicked the ball onto Grant Holt who put the ball over the keepers head and into the back of the net and the deadlock was broken in this banana skin.

A corner flicked back into the danger area from Fadiga and Danny Cullip smacked the ball into the back of the net and Nottingham Forest where two up over Lancaster.

Fadiga came close to adding a third Nottingham Forest goal when he leashed a drive from the edge of the area and Yeomans in the visitor’s goal brilliantly saved it, as it remained two-nil.

On nineteen minutes when Ryan Garry played the ball into the area and Nathan Tyson’s tame side foot was never going into the net and the keeper parried it and it was cleared from the danger area.

Lancaster City had a chance on twenty minutes when Howe saw his shot get parried over the crossbar and it was a great save from the on-loan Tim Krul.

A cross and Fadiga managed to head over the crossbar when well placed on twenty-nine minutes but it wasn’t going to trouble Yeomans in the Lancaster City goals and it was still two-nil.

A free kick from another Lancaster player was easy for Tim Krul, which saw him cause absolute no problems for the goalkeeper.

With six minutes of the half remaining a ball was played out to Kris Commons but he saw his shot saved by the Lancaster goalkeeper as they just couldn’t get more than the two goals at the moment.

When played in from Commons, Ian Moore was played into space and when he finally got his shot away a minute later it only went into the side netting when he should have done better with the finish.

The first major chance of the second half came with fifteen minutes remaining when Grant Holt should have added a third but he put the shot over, maybe he shouldn’t have taken the other touch.

In the last ten minutes, Fadiga had a chance but it was turned but Yeomans turned his shot away and it was cleared away as it looked like it was going to finish Nottingham Forest two, Lancaster City nil.

A corner kick found Danny Cullip who headed over past and over the bar when he was well placed inside the penalty area, shocking miss but Forest where through.

The full time whistle was blown and Nottingham Forest had easily made a comfortable passage into the second round of this year FA Cup after beating Lancaster two-nil at the City Ground, maybe this tactic might be the one? But Heggem is not getting carried away.

Carlisle United 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Coca-Cola league one – match day eighteen

Posted Image V Posted Image

Once again another boring encounter saw Nathan Tyson save Nottingham Forest from defeat with a twenty-fourth minute equaliser at Brunton Park as both sides drew one-one.

It took two minutes for the first chance to come but Fadiga blazed his shot well over the crossbar, it was off target but it was a good start from the visitors in Cumbria.

The first chance on target from Carlisle United brought the opening goal when a cross from Hayes was headed into the back of the net from Einarsson and the home side had the lead.

On twenty-one minutes a through ball found Einarsson but he couldn’t beat Tim Krul when he hit it straight at the on-loan Magpies goalkeeper.

Nathan Tyson got a great equaliser for Nottingham Forest on twenty-four minutes after great play from Ian Moore and his cross was poorly cleared and Nathan Tyson just outside the six yard box smacked it in off the post and it was level at one all.

Ian Moore blazed over the crossbar after great play from Kris Commons, Moore blazed over the top from just outside the penalty area with ten minutes remaining.

With the first half coming to a close, Einarsson again almost scored a second when he put the ball over the crossbar after great play from Karl Hawley but it went high and over.

With twenty seconds of the second half gone, Forest should have done better when they had a chance, which saw Fadiga crash the ball over the crossbar but just a minute later, McDermott blazed over for Carlisle.

Harrold was cleaned through and looked odds on to put his side two-one up at home but he couldn’t keep his drive under the crossbar with the game coming into the last twenty minutes.

Ian Moore couldn’t keep his shot down when the ball had come to him just outside the penalty area as it looked like this would end in both sides getting a point each.

The whistle was blown and it was indeed a point apiece between these two sides as Carlisle is probably the happier of the two as Forest needed all three.

Nottingham Forest 1-2 Leyton Orient
Saturday, November 25 2006
Coca-Cola league one – match day nineteen

Posted Image V Posted Image

Vegard Heggem was left so furious after Leyton Orient had come from behind to defeat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, which saw them win by two goals to one as the boos came again.

It took five minutes for the first chance, which fell to the home side when the Senegal midfielder Fadiga curled the ball over the crossbar.

A good pass, which was left by Tyson so it could come to Kris Commons but his shot, was tipped over the top from the Leyton Orient goalkeeper, Glyn Garner on eleven minutes.

A foul by John Mackie gave Nottingham Forest a free kick in a promising position, Kris Commons stepped up and on eighteen minutes Nottingham Forest where leading one-nil after a great free kick from Commons.

Sammy Clingan found out it was his turn to have a chance and he saw his shot go just over the crossbar, great chance to double the advantage.

A ball played into Connor gave Leyton Orient a chance to score but Tim Krul in the home goal parried his tame effort, as it remained one-nil.

The first chance of the second half when Surman drove a drive straight at Krul in the Forest goal as it looked like they where holding on.

A cross from Connor was headed into the back of the net from Thorne and Leyton Orient where level at the City Ground with a great header from the Orient player on fifty-one minutes.

On sixty-five minutes the ball played back from Thorne was tapped into the empty net from Paul Connor and Leyton Orient had turned it around in Nottingham.

A corner from Kevin James was headed over the crossbar from Danny Cullip who saw his header not trouble Glyn Garner in the visiting goal.

The whistle as blown and Nottingham Forest had slipped to nineteenth in the league one table and Vegard Heggem is now under pressure, not serious yet but it’s now insecure his job status the man needs a break in football. The board are very disappointed because he applied for Bolton and Southampton posts.

Fans want Heggem gone
Tuesday, November 28 2006

Today, Nottingham Forest supporters want to see the end of Vegard Heggem after he indicted he had applied for the vacant Bolton and Southampton jobs after their managers where sacked.

Despite being topside, this has been a depressing season for the Forest players and fans who see themselves lying in nineteenth position in the league and sacking Heggem won’t help matters.

On the nineteen match of the season, Nottingham Forest had gone down two-one at home to Leyton Orient, which saw the away side go from one nil down to pick up the points.

Now the Forest supporters want to see the back of the manager and hopes he gets sacked as manager of Nottingham Forest by their chairman and he’s been given an ultimatum and his career might not last longer at Forest.

November round-up
Friday, December 1 2006

It has been another crap month for Nottingham Forest Football Club, which saw the side drop to nineteenth in the Coca-Cola league one table, which has seen manager Vegard Heggem under extreme pressure.

However one good thing out of the month of November is that, Forest did advance to the second round of the FA Cup after defeating Lancaster City two-nil thanks to Grant Holt and Danny Cullip goals in the first round.

In the second round, they’ll play the Milton Keynes Dons tomorrow (Saturday 2 December) in the second round of the competition as manager Heggem looks to advance to the third round in what could be his last couple of games in charge if he’s to get the boot.

The FIFA World player of the year award has gone to Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry with Miroslav Klose of Werder Bremen and David Villa come in at second and third respectively, Henry who has scored six league goals in thirteen league games so far.

Leon Best of Yeovil Town won the player of the month award for November after giving in some decent performances throughout the month, Owain Tudor Jones of Swansea City came at second place and the third place went too Marc Wilson who plies his trade at Yeovil.

Marc Wilson of Yeovil Town won the young player for November after he had impressed the media throughout the month, Adrian Pettigrew of Brighton and Hove Albion came at second and Ishmael Miller of Cheltenham Town got third, the man is on-loan from Man City.

Roy McFarland of Chesterfield has won the manager of the month for November after getting seven points from the three league games played in November, Kenny Jackett of Swansea got second and third went too Gary Johnson of Bristol City.

The goal of the month award was awarded to Sean Thornton of Doncaster Rovers for his goal against Oldham Athletic back in the middle of November, Kevan Hurst of Chesterfield against Brighton got second at the beginning of November and third went too Pawel Abbot of Huddersfield Town for his goal against Port Vale again at the beginning of the month.

Nottingham Forest 5-1 Milton Keynes Dons
Saturday, December 2 2006
FA Cup second round

Posted Image V Posted Image

Nottingham Forest put on a five star show for their supporters as they easily advanced into the third round of the FA Cup after beating Milton Keynes Dons by five goals to one at the City Ground but I doubt it’ll relieve the pressure on manager, Vegard Heggem.

On four minutes the away side where to have the first chance even know it was off target when the ball was to fall to McGovern but he saw his curling shot go just past the far post and it was a good chance.

Sammy Clingan had a chance for Forest in the eleventh minute after being picked out but he couldn’t get the drive on target and it remained nil-nil at the City Ground in the second round of the FA Cup.

On fourteen minutes a great cross from Ryan Garry found Kevin James but he unfortunally took one touch too many and it was easily parried from Adolfo Baines in the MK Dons goals.

Nathan Tyson then had a chance for Forest with the score line at goalless but he dragged his effort so off target it wasn’t funny and goalkeeper, Baines wasn’t worried by the effort.

A foul from Drissa Diallo on Nathan Tyson saw the referee, Phil Crossley immediately point to the penalty spot and Nottingham Forest had a penalty with eighteen minutes gone, Kris Commons stepped up and he planted the ball into the net past Adolfo Baines and Nottingham Forest led one-nil.

On thirty-four minutes a cross from Kevin James found Ian Moore who passed the ball to Ashley Grimes who slotted home his first ever goal in senior football and Forest where leading by two goals to nil.

A throw-in found McGovern inside the eighteen yard box but his sharp turn and shot went over the crossbar as it wasn’t going to trouble the on-loan Tim Krul who was allowed to play as part of his loan deal as he was on-loan for the season.

A cross from McGovern in added time at the end of the first half saw his corner find Diallo and his header went close from pulling a goal back in the second round tie at City Ground with the second half coming.

The first major incident of the second half saw the visitors, Milton Keynes Dons get reduced to ten men when John Curtis was kicked by Gary Berry and the referee showed the MK Dons greyed midfielder a straight red card.

A cross from Kris Commons was touched into the back of the net from Ian Moore and Nottingham Forest where easing into the third round of the competition with almost an hour gone in the second round tie.

On seventy-four minutes a free kick from Kevin James from the wing from thumped into the back of the net from Sammy Clingan and Nottingham Forest where now leading Milton Keynes Dons by four goals to nil.
Lloyd Dyer played in substitute Scott Taylor who riffled the ball into the back of the net and the MK Dons had a consolation goal with seven minutes remaining at the City Ground.

With five minutes remaining, Paul Mitchell brought down Nathan Tyson who won his second penalty of the afternoon in this second round tie, Ian Moore stepped up and slotted his second goal of the afternoon past Adolfo Baines and it was five-one to Nottingham Forest.

The full time whistle was blown and Nottingham Forest had easily advanced to the third round of the FA Cup sponsored by E:ON this year, five-one thanks to a great second half performance despite conceding.

Coca-Cola league one – match day twenty

Posted Image V Posted Image

An own goal from Danny Cullip got Yeovil Town a point at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest’s poor league form continued as Vegard Heggem looked even more annoyed, a different result after the five-one win over MK Dons in the FA Cup.

It took fifty-one seconds to break through when Wes Morgan played Grant Holt who passed to Nathan Tyson and he smacked the ball into the back of the net past Mildenhall and Forest led in one minute.

A corner from Ashley Grimes on four minutes was met by the head of Ryan Garry whose header was turned away by Mildenhall in the Yeovil Town goalkeeper and it got cleared, it really should have been two.

Leon Best then came close for Yeovil Town with their first effort worth noting at the City Ground but in all honestly it wasn’t going to trouble the on-loan Tim Krul.

It was then Butters’ turn to have a chance for the away side on nineteen minutes but Tim Krul brilliantly saved it and Morris also couldn’t put it in, as he was first to the rebound but Krul spredded himself well.

After a great ball was played into Gray who then drove from about nineteen yards out but it went over the crossbar and it remained one-nil to the home side, but Yeovil where getting more dangerous.

Yeovil Town where level when Dyer drive was hit into his own net from about sixteen yards out and it went straight past Krul who was struggling to get there and Yeovil Town where level at one apiece with thirty-nine minutes gone.

Mildenhall managed to keep Nathan Tyson from adding a second goal when he dribbled and he blocked his shot, which maybe was heading to the back of the net late in the first half but no one will know, seconds later, Danny Guthrie put the ball over the bar from just outside the area.

Absolutely nothing worth reporting happened in the second period of the match so both sides where allowed to share points at the City Ground, but a boring second half hence nothing worth reporting.

Oldham Athletic 2-2 Nottingham Forest
Saturday, December 9 2006
Coca-Cola league one – match day twenty-one

Posted Image V Posted Image

A ninetieth minute goal from Kris Commons got Nottingham Forest a point against Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park when it looked like they where going to lose once again, but they’ve failed to win again, Forest have now slipped to twentieth.

An Ashley Grimes corner on two minutes was tipped over the bar from the Oldham goalkeeper after Grant Holt had gotten his head to the ball so it was another corner to Forest as Boundary Park.

It was too be Oldham however who where to take the lead on eleven minutes after a long clearance and the bounce had beaten the Forest defender to let Hall straight on goal and he made no mistake slotting the ball home from inside the area.

A cross from Kevin James, I think was met by Grant Holt who saw his shot smack off the post as it remained one-nil to the home side but that should have been one-one in the league one side.

A cross on thirty-two minutes, I think was met by Hall again but this time Tim Krul parried his shot as it could have been two for the home side, Oldham Athletic but it wasn’t just yet.

A short Kris Commons free kick was played left to Danny Cullip who was inside the eighteen yard box and he saw his shot bring out a fantastic stop by the goalkeeper as it could have been level going into half time.

After being stopped by the goalkeeper by Grant Holt the ball fell to Kevin James who seriously should have equalised but his shot could only find the side netting as it definitely looked like Forest would be trailing at the break.

Just three minutes into the second half as disaster struck when Hall picked up the ball and he ran towards the eighteen yard box and unleashed a shot, which has beaten Krul and Nottingham Forest where losing by two goals to nil.

A corner was met by the head of Wellens who saw his shot fail to go in as Oldham where looking to kill the tie off as soon as possible, if they haven’t done it already by leading by two goals to nil.

Alexander was next to try his luck at killing the match off with fifteen minutes remaining but Tim Krul stopped him adding a third goal for the home side as Heggem needed something magic from his side.

A ball played into the box from Ryan Garry was about to find the Oldham goalkeeper before Grant Holt got enough to flick it into the net to give the visitors hope, that’s the bit of safety the manager from the players.

A short cross from Stanford found Alexander who saw his shot tipped over from the on-loan Newcastle goalkeeper as Oldham really wanted the three points this afternoon to condone Nottingham Forest to another failure.
Once again Alexander was causing problems in the Forest defence and he again should have added a third goal but again Tim Krul brought a great save out to deny him a good goal.

It’s the p*ss doesn’t it in football? When Oldham didn’t take their chances, three minutes into added time at the end of the match Kris Commons stepped up to take a free kick and he curled it into the net past Carson and Forest had got an unlikely point.

The full time whistle was blown and Nottingham Forest where leaving Oldham Athletic with an unlikely point, downfall is that they’ve slipped to twentieth in league one.

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Chesterfield

Coca-Cola league one – match day twenty-two

Posted Image V Posted Image

Nottingham Forest’s poor form continued as Vegard Heggem was expecting the boot any minute now as his side stayed in twentieth position following a disgusting defeat to Chesterfield at home.

The only goal arrived on three minutes when a Kiss free kick was touched into the net by Allott as he put the ball past Krul and Chesterfield where leading at the City Ground early.

It could have been two when I think it was Niven who drove it from outside the area but Tim Krul punched it over the crossbar and it was a corner to the away side and the home fans where starting to jeer already.

Ashley Grimes’ free kick went straight into the side netting, which was never going to trouble anyone, but that’s all Forest have managed so far in this disgraceful first half, which the fans are right to get annoyed.

On twenty-seven minutes the Forest fans almost had something to shout about when Nathan Tyson’s shot skimmed the top of the crossbar and went away, he should have lowered the drive and it was in.

An Allott cross was easily caught by Tim Krul and it had to be because there were one or two Chesterfield players lurking behind to get to the ball in case he had missed it coming to half time.

An Ashley Grimes free kick on fifty-two minutes was played to Wes Morgan whose drive ended up with the travelling support; terrible, terrible chance maybe he could have done better.

No one will know how Forest didn’t equalise here when Grant Holt had seem his shot parried by the goalkeeper and it fell to Ian Moore who had also seen his shot parried by the Chesterfield goalkeeper and then Kevin James blazed it away high and wide, how did it not go in?

In the seventy-seventh minute it got worse for Forest when they where reduced to ten men when Kevin James had done a wee push on Niven and the referee thought it was a second booking and sent him off.

Russell then came close to adding a second goal from a free kick with about two minutes from the end but Russell’s free kick went off target and Krul was never troubled.

It was full time here and Heggem now was expecting to be sacked within the next couple of days to games because there is no way this poor form should continue, well unfortunally for Forest, Heggem can’t get the players to perform no matter what he says.

A rare moment of a season happened today, yes Nottingham Forest picked up three points in what was a ‘dull’ affair but Vegard Heggem blew a huge sigh of relief when the full time whistle was blown, Forest move up one in the league standings.

It took seven minutes for chance number one when Nathan Tyson slammed the ball across the box and Jake Cole managed to get fingers to it and it had put Grant Holt off who surely was going to slot the ball home.

Grant Holt should have punished a poor clearance from goalkeeper, Cole but the only downfall was that it was a poor chance from Grant Holt and Cole just had to pick it up.

Gillingham had their first chance of the encounter in the tenth minute when Ndumbu-Nsungu saw his shot tipped over bar from the goalkeeper who is spending the season on-loan.

Another good chance fell to the hosts when Grant Holt maybe shouldn’t have stuttered before taking the chance because it made the save easier from the Gills goalkeeper and it was a corner.

The deadlock was broken from the corner kick when it failed to get cleared properly and some Forest player passed it to Garry who unleashed the shot straight past Cole in the goal and Forest where leading.

After being played in, Grant Holt surely should have added a second goal but he blazed over the crossbar, oh that’s going to kill his confidence, which is probably fragile enough.

Morais had a chance to draw level on the stroke of half time but his shot was beat around the post from Tim Krul in the home goal and the Gills had a late first half corner.

Ndumbu-Nsungu saw his cross somehow get touch round the post from Jackman who couldn’t believe he had drawn Gillingham level with the first chance of the second period.

Spiller met a Jackman free kick on sixty-three minutes but even he couldn’t slip the equaliser in as he was stopped by an impressive Tim Krul who was probably going to win man of the match or your money back.

When the whistle blew for full time all you could hear was a huge cheer from the Nottingham Forest supporters who had actually seen their side pick up maximum points for the first time since nine games ago (14 October 2006 – 3-0 v Port Vale at home)

Coca-Cola league one – match day twenty-four

Posted Image V Posted Image

It was a great boxing day for Nottingham Forest supporters as they won a five-goal thriller against Huddersfield, which saw Forest move up to sixteenth in league one.

The first worthwhile chance fell to the away side, Huddersfield when Schofield was picked up and he lashed his drive over the crossbar on eight minutes.

On twenty-two minutes the head of Ashley Grimes whose header went past the post, as it was still goalless, met a corner from Nicky Southall.

On thirty-eight minutes, John Curtis came close to breaking the deadlock when he smacked the ball against the crossbar with the Huddersfield goalkeeper beaten all ends up.

The away team broke the deadlock on forty-one minutes when he unleashed a shot from the edge of the area from Liam Beckett and Town where in the lead as Tim Krul couldn’t get to the effort.

A free kick from Padula played across to John Curtis saw the right back smack the home side level on the stroke of half time and it was one-one at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest had a chance to go ahead for the first time at the City Ground but Kris Commons slammed his shot over the crossbar on seventy-two minutes.

Nottingham Forest where to take the lead in the eighty-first minute when a poor clearance was humped back forward from Kris Commons and Grant Holt was there and he tapped the ball home and Forest where leading two-one.

On eighty-four minutes, I don’t know who it was but Huddersfield Town slammed the post from inside the area and from the rebound saw the ball beat the post and it got cleared.

With four minutes remaining, Huddersfield where level when the ball played into the area found Brandon in space and he tapped the equaliser home and it was two-two.

In added time at the end of the second half an Ashley Grimes corner was headed into the back of the net from Wes Morgan and Nottingham Forest had surely scored a dramatic winning goal.

It should have been four in the ninety-fourth minute when Nathan Tyson bounced in behind but he couldn’t get his effort on target but it looked like they where going to win anyway.

The full time whistle was blown at the City Ground and Nottingham Forest had picked up a sensational three points in a five-goal thriller against Huddersfield Town at the City Ground.

Coca-Cola league one – match day twenty-five

Nottingham Forest’s run of two straight wins has come to an end when they lost two-one at Bloomfield Road to Blackpool, which saw them slip to eighteenth in the league table.

Blackpool had the first chance when Murphy struck the ball over the crossbar after being picked out and it was the first real chance of the afternoon at Bloomfield Road.

A ball played to Murphy saw him flick the ball across to Keigan Parker and he tapped the ball into the back of the net to send the home fans into raptures and Blackpool led on twenty-four minutes.

When a poor clearance found Parker he couldn’t believe he didn’t add a second goal when Tim Krul denied him the second goal of the afternoon and Blackpool’s second too.

Nathan Tyson had a chance, which went well off target and it didn’t trouble Evans in the Blackpool goal one bit as he could watch it go well wide off the target with two minutes gone in added time at the end of the first half.

Murphy was again causing problems in the Nottingham Forest defence and it brought a great save out of the on-loan Newcastle United goalkeeper, Tim Krul with Blackpool still leading.

On fifty-five minutes, Ashley Grimes slammed the ball over the crossbar from just outside the penalty area as it caused no problems to the goalkeeper again.

After being played in, Bean couldn’t find the target as it went past the goalkeeper in the Nottingham Forest goal with sixty-four minutes on the clock.

On seventy-seven minutes, Nottingham Forest where level at Bloomfield Road when Ashley Grimes’ shot was parried by the goalkeeper and so was Nathan Tyson’s but it went to Grant Holt who put it in from about an inch out and it was one all.

A short cross found Wiles who slammed the ball into the net and Blackpool where back in the advantage in the Coca-Cola league one encounter with nine minutes remaining.

In the ninetieth minute, Parker could of added a third goal but Tim Krul wasn’t having any of it and he tipped it over the crossbar and it was an added time corner kick to Blackpool.

Arnau then had a chance to make it three late, late on but he couldn’t direct the chance on target with probably the last chance of the game with Blackpool leading two-one at Bloomfield Road.

The full time whistle was blown and Nottingham Forest had lost to Blackpool in the twentieth-fifth league one encounter under, under-pressure Vegard Heggem.

December round-up
Monday, January 1 2007

It was a bit better of a month for Nottingham Forest supporters who actually saw their side win two matches in the league one this month and advancement to the third round of the FA Cup.

Recently manager, Vegard Heggem has given an ultimatum because he applied for the Manchester City post, which is currently vacant but he got no word on the Southampton job, which has been vacant for a couple of months now.

Kyle Lafferty has won the December player of the month award after he had put in a couple of impressive performances throughout the month, Peter Thorne of Leyton Orient came in second and third was Richie Wellins of Oldham Athletic.

Drew Surman of Leyton Orient won the young player of the month award for December because he wanted to win it, second was Martin Woods of Rotherham United and Billy Clarke of Leyton Orient was third.

Rotherham United’s Alan Knill won the December manager of the month award after guiding Rotherham to five wins out of his six league games during December, drawing the other one. In second position went to Leyton Orient’s Martin Ling and Joe Royle of Oldham Athletic came third.

Justin Cochrane of Rotherham United won the goal of the month for December after his goal against Sflowerhorpe United back on December fifth, second was Drew Surman’s goal against Bradford for Leyton Orient and third was Darren Byfield for Millwall against Bristol City.

A couple of good results in there. Just looking for consistency though, although it's probably not helping your squad to settle if you keep applying for every job going :D

Vegard Heggem resigns
Monday, January 1 2007

Due to overwhelming supporter and bored pressure, Vegard Heggem was resigned as manager of Nottingham Forest with immediate effect; the news came just before the side’s nil-nil draw with Bradford City much to the fans delight.

Vegard Heggem who had applied for the vacant Southampton and Man City jobs but yet to get a response thought it was time to try and get a fresh start in his management career after a horrible time at Forest.

Whether he stays and looks for another job remains to be seen, it would rather look good if someone will give him a fresh chance, maybe Man City but it’ll probably be a lower league team at the turn of two thousand and seven, Heggem leaves Forest and the fans are happy but at least the board can’t bitch and moan at him.

Heggem will begin looking for a new job, but whether that remains to be seen is a different story and if he doesn’t get one by the end of the season then he might retire from this career and see if he can get a fresh start somewhere else.

The former player who used to play at Liverpool and Rosenborg came to Nottingham Forest as “the next big thing” in management but his career didn’t take off at Forest and didn’t help that the players didn’t play to your tactics and you had fans who probably couldn’t do a better job and having critics on you.

So, I wonder what now for Mr. Heggem as he will now begin looking for a new job after leaving Nottingham Forest nineteenth in league one and he stated to the media – “I tried to get them out of the mess, I had accidentally put them in but it didn’t help when you had the board and fans wanting you out after every defeat, well f*** them supporters”

Vegard Heggem has today resigned as Forest manager but hopes to stay in football.
