Goodbye Martin Jol
Sky Sports can reveal that Martin Jol has been sacked from the rest of his contract by Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy. It is no surprise that this has happened as Levy had publicly announced his dissapointment at the fact Tottenham had not qualified for the Champions League last season via fourth place in the Premier League finishing in fifth just behind arch rivals Arsenal.
Even thou most expected Jol's tenure at White Hart Lane to end in the near future they at least thought he would get the first half of the new season to prove wheter or not he was the right man for the job but patience is not a known strength of Levy's. The fifty one year old Dutchman is now unemployed and Spurs go on the search for a new manager yet again.
Former Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce, Spurs fan favourites Jurgen Klinsmann and Frenchman David Ginola are all names that have been thrown out there as possible candidates for the vacant managerial post at White Hart Lane but it is former England manager Sven Goran Erikkson that the bookies have labelled as favourite should he choose not to take the job at Manchester City.

Hancock to manage Spurs
In a move that will shock Spurs fans worldwide, Daniel Levy has continued his crazy decision making by appointing unknown Kevin Hancock as manager of Tottenham on a two year contract worth a nice 9,500 a week which means the Irishman is set to make 955,000 pounds. Hancock who is twenty seven years old is unknown in the world of football but it is believed that the now Spurs manager is dating Hayden Panettiere whose father is a business associate with Director of football Damien Comoli and therefore it seems like Hancock has just been put in charge as a puppet for Levy and Comoli to do as they please.
Spurs are yet to release any details about a future press conference to introduce the manager and Spurs fans will be no doubt really worried about this season in the league and the clubs long term future which seems almost like the Leeds United horror show that led to Uniteds rapid demise as far down as the Coca Cola League One.

You also need to explain what Hayden Panettiere has to do with the story.
No point mentioning it then forgetting about it.

Hancock signs another
Tottenham manager Kevin Hancock has signed his second player, with Stephen Quinn moving from Sheffield United to White Hart Lane in a move worth just under two million pounds. Quinn who grew up just five minutes away from Hancock and went to the same primary school is said to be delighted to be moving to Spurs to link up with fellow Irishmen Robbie Keane, Kevin Hancock and new signing Darron Gibson.
Quinn who had just recently broke into the United first team is the brother of Alan Quinn who is also on the books at Bramall Lane.

Pre Season Friendly
Enzo Ricci
Sassuolo 0 - 4 Tottenham
Spurs started their pre-season campaign in emphatic style against Itallian side Sassuolo at the Enzo Ricci stadium, demolishing the Itallian side by four goals to nil. Spurs started with Paul Robinson in goal, Gareth Bale, Pascal Chimbonda, Ricardo Rocha and Younes Kaboul making up the back four. Tom Huddlestone was deployed in a defensive midfield role just behind Jermaine Jenas, Steed Malbranque and Kevin Prince Boateng. Darrent Bent and Dimitar Berbatov started up front with the Bulgarian donning the captains armband for the night in the absence of injured Ledley King.
Spurs took the lead in the twelveth minute thanks to a fantastic header by Berbatov. Robinson took a goal kick after Sassuolo had put the ball out after Chimbonda could receive treatment after he had sustained a knock and it was the frenchman who turned provider. Robinsons long goal kick was knocked away by centre back Stefano Menciassi into the path of Jenas who played the ball out wide for Chimbonda. The frenchman thought about taking on his man but looked up and spotted Berbatov in the box, he whipped in a dangerous cross which Menciassi could not reach and Berbatov climbed highest to power home a goal from nine yards out which left the home crowd stunned. Berbatov then doubled his tally for the night five minutes later when Kevin Prince Boateng won a corner after forcing Salvatore Gagliardi to tip over his shot from twenty yards out. From the resulting corner Steed Malbranque whipped in a delightful cross towards the back post where Berbatov was lurking and once again beat his marker to the ball and powered home his header to double Spurs lead.
Spurs started to run the game after that second goal and they made it three just one minute from half time. A delightful ball by Huddlestone released Boateng into space down the left and the German under twenty one international did not dissapoint with his final ball as he put a goal on a platter for Darrent Bent who gladfully tapped home from just four yards out to send Tottenham into the break three goals to the good.
When second half play resumed it was much of the same as Tottenham dictated play for large parts of the opening fifteen minutes and they made Sassuolo pay just after the hour mark. Jenas was starting to cause the Sassuolo defence major problems with his fine passing from both left and right foot and it was his clever pass which eventually led to Tottenhams fourth. Jenas released Bent down the wing and the Englishman was able to win a corner. Once again Steed Malbranque delivered the ball into the mix resulting in the same outcome only this time a different name would appear on the scoresheet, Younes Kaboul raising highest in the area to glance home a header and rub salt into the wounds.
Berbatov grabbed two

Martina 0 - 4 Tottenham
Goals from Stephen Quinn, Robbie Keane, Adel Taarabt and Jermain Defoe have helped Tottenham cruise to another four nil win this time over Itallian Martina. It took Spurs just five minutes to show their class with new signing Stephen Quinn smashing home from just outside the box after Robbie Keane had raced down the wing released by Phil Ifils long ball and squared it back for his fellow countryman to make it one nil.
Keane then turned scorer although it took him four shots in bizarre fashion. Keane was released by Berbatov through the middle, with one man to beat Keane hit the gas and beat the defender for pace, now one on one with the keeper Keane looked up and placed his shot towards the top corner, but he hit the bar. The ball bounced back to Keane who rolled the ball towards the net but the defender he had beaten cleared it off the line right back into Keanes path who now struck a low hard shot in which the keeper stuck a boot out and stopped, once again thou the ball came back to Keane who this time made no mistake and slotted home Tottenhams second of the afternoon.
Half time came and went with Tottenham making one change, Adel Taarabt coming on for the impressive Wayne Routledge. Within four minutes Taarabt showed why he is touted for a bright future with a fantastic shot. After controlling a long ball on his chest, Taarabt turned and hit the ball on the volley, the ball dipped and swerved in the air before making its bed in the top left corner, it was pure brilliance from the eighteen year old Frenchman. Jermain Defoe made it four nil two mintues from time when he rounded Marco Murriero and slid the ball into the empty net. Kevin Hancock walked onto the pitch to congratulate his players and is sure to be delighted by the form his team has shown in their first two hit outs of the season. Hancocks girlfriend Hayden Panettiere was also spotted in the stands, reported to be taking advantage of the chance to holiday in Italy with her man while Spurs are on their pre season tour.

Keane was fantastic

Cesena 1 - 4 Tottenham
On a warm dry day in Cesena Tottenham showed class and swagger as they dismantled Serie B side Cesena in a four one drubbing. A brace for Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent gave Tottenham their third straight win in pre season and their third straight game in which they have scored four goals.
Tottenham got the ball rolling in the ninth minute when Darren Bent rose highest to head home from a Gareth Bale cross and just six minutes later Bents strike partner Defoe scored a fortuitous goal as he deflected home a Jermaine Jenas free kick without any knowledge. Defoe then grabbed his second just past the half hour mark this time with a cool and calm finish as he raced away from Dario Biasi before slotting the ball past Cesena keeper Gianluca Berti to make it Tottenham three Cesena nil.
Tottenham conceded their first goal of the pre season in the sixty first minute when Itallian Davide Moscardelli pounced on a loose backpass from Rocha and made no mistake as he buried Robinson to give the seven thousand Cesena fans something to cheer about. However their happiness was short lived as a defensive brain snap allowed Bent to break the offside trap and go one on one with Berti and the former Charlton man made no mistake as he smashed the ball past Berti to make sure Tottenham keeped their one hundred percent record in their pre season tour.

Bent and Defoe celebrate

You might say Keane was fantastic but this story is fantastic, I know I've used that word a lot in stories but it's true. The standard of stories on this forum is great and you are no exception Irish
