yep you have to extract the fmf file and then you will find plenty of extra players

what SI does is they cut out all images for the licensed teams, but then any of those players that are out on loan at another unlicensed club or those that are being loaned from a unlicensed club don't have their IDs included in the config file and hence don't show in the game

definitely worth going through the fmf file because there are probably an extra 100+ cutouts that SI 'hide' by not including them in the config

just use the resource archiver to browse to the archive ....graphics/pictures/players and then extract the whole players folder

Ah, i see. So the FMF extractor is in Program files/sports interactive...................... and so on. Cos last year you had to download but this year they have it built in.
Is that right???

Correct, although my fmf extractor doesn't work which is very annoying as I was intending on "Improving" some of the poorly cut-out work SI have done.

I'm in contact with someone at SI on how to fix my problem, obviously crookes' version works fine, let me know if you get yours up and running.

the players folders total about 220mb (roughly 5500 pics) i think from memory so if you don't get a solution to your problem i could upload the whole folder...

otherwise if there were certain teams you were after or even certain leagues such as the Championship etc just let me know and I'll upload them for you

Hi,

Great work. I have a problem and a question i hope you can help me with.

I have created my own team on FM2009
They are in Blue Square Premier

I am trying to create and upload my own facepacks for the players. I have high quality images which i have cut out myself (deleted the backgrounds using adobe elements 6.0)

The images have been sized 180x180 pixels (at 72 dpi) and the file has been named to the Unique player ID (found on Data Editor) as .png files.

I am saving them as follows:
documents/sports interactive/football manager 2009/graphics/pictures/players/my own team/1394631335.png

The Use Skin Cache has been unticked & Always reload skin on confirm has been ticked.

Unfortunately after pulling most of my hair out, the facepacks are still not showing. Please tell me what i am doing wrong.

Look forward to hearing from you soon :thup:

I would just rename those pngs to the player name, and then create a config.xml file in the same folder as the images (which can be whatever folder you want within graphics/players) to tell the game where to put the images.

Open notepad, and copy and paste this in, then save it as config.xml :

<record>
	<!-- resource manager options -->

	<!-- dont preload anything in this folder -->
	<boolean id="preload" value="false"/>

	<!-- turn off auto mapping -->
	<boolean id="amap" value="false"/>

	<!-- logo mappings -->
	<list id="maps">
		<!-- Auto generated by fmXML -->
		<record from="YOUR PLAYER NAME" to="graphics/pictures/person/1394631335/portrait"/>
		<record from="YOUR PLAYER NAME" to="graphics/pictures/person/YOUR ID HERE/portrait"/>
	</list>
</record>

Change YOUR PLAYER NAME to whatever you called the .png file, and the 1394631335 for the player's ID.

For each player, add a new "<record from=.." line below the last.

That's good advice mate, but for beginners I'd suggest the XML generator, It's a lot easier! See my reply to the original question HERE
