Sorry for the lack of recent updates, been a bit busy after returning back to college and playing cricket both Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully should get an update in sometime this week, but this will definitely continue all the way through the summer holidays and beyond.

Cheers,
Trev.

Three goals in the first 45 minutes handed Feyenoord a comfortable victory over Portuguese side Vit. Setúbal in Rotterdam this evening. Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Roy Makaay and Ron Vlaar all powered in goals to leave the Dutch side with little to worry about in their second leg tie two weeks from now.

Finishing the key difference between the two sides

Despite a large gulf in class Vit. Setúbal put up a reasonable fight, creating a few chances of their own. The difference lay in the shooting, with Setúbal only landing one of their nine shots on target to Feyenoord's 8 from 15.

Super van Bronckhorst stole the show

Giovanni van Bronckhorst put in a Man of the Match performance scoring a superb free kick on 17 minutes before becoming creator to set up Vlaar from a flighted free kick. van Bronckhorst will be looking for more of the same throughout the tournament, the defensive midfielder a key player in Feyenoord's plans of lifting the trophy.

2008/09 UEFA Cup First Round, First Leg
Feyenoord 3-0 Vit. Setúbal
van Bronckhorst 17', Makaay 28', Vlaar 43'
