Florentino Perez Rodriguez returns to the Presidency of Real Madrid, the club which he presided over between 2000 and 2006.

He first ran for president in 1994, an election campaign won by Ramon Mendoza. He achieved his goal on 16 July 2000 by defeating incumbent President Lorenzo Sanz. Perez was overwhelmingly re-elected in 2004 and voluntarliy resigned his office on 27 February 2006. Real Madrid underwent a profound transformation in all of its social strata during his office.
When Perez arrived at the Club in 2000, the Director of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium Plan was set under way with a double objective: improving the comfort of the stadium and the quality of its services and instalations, and increasing the revenue produced by the stadium.
Florentino's presidency managed to stengthen the Club's finances, making Real Madrid one of the richest clubs in the world. According to the Deloitte Report -the most prestigious of its kind in the world of football-, Real Madrid overtook Manchester United to become the strongest team in the world financially-speaking.
Perez signed stars of the likes of Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Beckham, Owen and Ronaldo, who joined forces with signature players like Raul, Casillas and Guti to create a winning team that thrilled all Madridismo.
This magnificent team won two league titles (2001, 2003), one Champions League (2002), one Intercontinental Cup (2002), two Spanish Super Cups (2001, 2003) and one European Super Cup (2002).
Florentino Perez kickstarted a complete renewal of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, investing 127 million euros throughout five years. This eventually led to the Bernabeu achieveing UEFA's Elite Stadium distinction. It will host the 2010 Champions League final.
Florentino Perez was also the creator of Real Madrid City at Valdebebas, the most state-of-the-art sport facility in the world. The first stone was laid on 12 May 2004 and the City was inaugurated in 2006. It is the greatest sports center ever built by a football club and covers 1,200,000 square meters, ten times bigger than the old Real Madrid City. Real Madrid Castilla were promoted to the Second Division at Valdebebas.
Florentino Perez's presidency healed the Club's financial situation, recovered the intitution's international prestige, obtained great success in the sporting field and, more importantly, regained the pride and admiration of all Madridismo.

Real Madrid Sign Kaka For World Record Fee
Real Madrid have completed the signing of Brazilian playmaker Kaka from AC Milan on a six-year deal.
The fee is reported to be about £56m, which would be a new world record in pounds sterling, surpassing the £45.6m Real paid for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
Kaka, 27, revealed he has joined the Spanish club to help the Italians overcome their financial difficulties.
"I wanted to stay but the world crisis affected my decision," he said. "I knew I'd only leave Milan to play for Real."
The attacking midfielder, speaking after having a medical in Recife, where Brazil face Paraguay in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday, added: "I spoke with the Milan directors and we reached the conclusion that the best thing for everybody would be to sell."
And he revealed that the deal had been in the pipeline for some time."I've been weighing up the offer from Real Madrid a lot," he confirmed. "It's an important project for me to continue growing in my career. I'm not going to Real Madrid for money, as I had other offers.
The Brazilian enjoyed great success in his six years at the San Siro. In 2007 alone Milan picked up the Champions League as well as the Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa Club World Cup, while his Brazil side won the Confederations Cup and he was also voted the Fifa World Player Of The Year.
He has also won the Seria A title and was part of Brazil's 2002 World Cup-winning squad. Although under contract at the San Siro until 2013, in January Manchester City made an audacious £100m bid, offering a reported £500,000 a week in wages but Kaka opted to stay in Italy.
More recently he was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge following the arrival of former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge.

Kaka will now be playing alongside the likes of Raul and Casillas

Tevez Opts For Madrid
Tevez swaps rainy Manchester for sunny Madrid
Former Manchester United and Boca Juniors star Carlos Tevez has put pen to paper with Real Madrid for a fee of £15M.
The Argentinean international has signed a five year deal with Spanish giants Real Madrid. The player who spent two seasons at Manchester United scoring over twenty-five goals in the process has opted to sign for Madrid over staying in England with Chelsea and Manchester City reportedly interested in Tevez.
The Argentine left Manchester United at the end of last season when he was unhappy about playing predominantly as a substitute. He said that the arrival of Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov stopped him from receiving enough matchplay and he knew his future was elsewhere.
Tevez a two time Premiership winner and a Champions League winner with United says that although he enjoyed his time in Manchester, Madrid was where he wanted to go. ' I loved Manchester but I didn't get enough time to play on the pitch and I knew that I had to leave. United didn't want to spend the £25.5M on me so I decided even if they did offer me a contract, I would leave. Real are a great club with a fantastic history. Also they have signed Cristiano Ronaldo who is a good friend of mine from Manchester. They have great ambition for the future and the new Chairman Mr. Perez assured me that I wouldn't regret signing for Real. I hope I enjoy my time here and I look forward to the new season especially.'
Elsewhere Cristiano Ronaldo has completed his £80M record move to Real. He will join Tevez, Kaka and Raul Albiol but will Real be breaking the bank once again?
