COOK: FERGUSON SHOULD MIND HIS OWN

Manchester City's chief executive, Gary Cook, spoke out today in defence of his club and his bosses. Cook reacted angrily to a series of insults slung at them from Sir Alex Ferguson.
Cook spoke to the BBC today and fired right back at Sir Alex. "He should think more about his own house. Ferguson tried to say our owners are not football people, Sheikh Mansour has not saddled this club with crippling debts unlike his own 'football' people.", Cook said pointing to the Glazer's who saddled the club with the loans they took out to buy United. "Sheikh Mansour has showed his commitment in signing several top class players, that's no bad thing, no matter which manager signed them.
"Shekih Mansour and Mr Mubarak are huge sporting fans, they're hugely influential in all forms of sport in the middle east. They have the best interests of Manchester City at heart, sometimes that means doing the hard things like sacking a manager.
"Roberto [Mancini] was a fantastic man, he just wasn't the right man for the job. And we won't worry about keeping the wrong man just so Sir Alex won't go moaning as usual to his own TV channel."
Cook stated the club where already close to bringing in their own man. "Mr Mubarak and myself have been working on this day and night. We've been in close contact with Sheikh Mansour throughout the process, hopefully in the next few days we will have an announcement on our man." Although the City chief exec refused to name any names. "It's something we'll be keeping close to our chest until we're sure we've got our man."
One final retaliatory shot was aimed at United. "If Sir Alex [Ferguson] wants to disregard us and our chances in the upcoming season, then that's his decision, and he should keep it to himself and mind his own business. But we will be serious contenders for silverware next season, if clubs want to underestimate us, then that just makes us a bigger threat."

FERGUSON: CITY DON'T HAVE A CLUE

In the wake of Roberto Mancini's departure, Sir Alex Ferguson put the boot into the team he described as United's 'noisy neighbours'. Ferguson derided his sides oldest rivals in an interview with United's own TV channel.
Ferguson once again reiterated his stance on the sacking of Mark Hughes. "He's a great manager, his work at Blackburn and City was fantastic. Now he's at Fulham, a club who will leave him alone to work his magic, and he'll do well for them. City should have stuck with him and backed him."
The brunt of Ferguson's attack was aimed at the owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak. "They clearly don't have a clue what they're doing. They're business people, not football people and that shows with all these stupid decisions."
When asked to clarify Ferguson did not hesitate to rattle off a list of offences. "Well they got rid of Mark [Hughes], then they hire a manager mid-season and sack him at the end of it. They let Roberto [Mancini] spend over a hundred million on players [Jerome Boateng, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Aleksandar Kolarov, Mario Balotelli and James Milner]. Where is the sense in that? These won't be the new managers players, and if the club knew what they were doing he could have brought in his own."
Ferguson continued by saying, "They can give the manager another hundred million but how is he going to keep all these players happy? They can't even keep their current squad happy. That's key to success."
The United manager praised the approach of his own club, "Success does not come overnight, it didn't for me. But I always had the backing of smart football people, they let me do a job and it worked out for us. Change your manager all the time and you'll win nothing."
When questioned on City's ability to challenge for the Premiership this season, Sir Alex laughed it off. "No chance. A new manager, with a load of new players he never signed, they won't win anything. Our main challengers will be the same, the real big clubs. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. Tottenham are more of a threat than City, because they know how to run a club and have kept faith in a great manager." -
