As I've previously said (but just realized I edited it out of the OP for the history bit) all before this was what I had already played & conveniently had a few screen shots of good bits saved. What I'm going to do from now on is follow the same kind of format as before (start-middle-end sort of thing) but expand on it a bit & throw in a few more images.

At the end of last season I said that this could be my last season with the K's if no progress can be made, so I've declared it another all or nothing season, much like 2014/2015, only real exception is this time it's going to work (hopefully!).

The summer break saw 2 players leave on free transfers, both who were involved in the senior squad last time round but not irreplaceable. 6 players joined the club... including (one of the most high-profile players to probably ever play for this club) 32-year-old Jermaine Beckford! Wage budget wise we are looking at a spend of £2,600 to a budget of £1,900... as I said before... all or nothing!

A bumper sized pre season schedule went well from a financial perspective with Middlesborough returning to Kingsmeadow along with Rangers, Derby County & Notts County. Performance wise it couldn't have gotten much better with my new signings fitting in well & being involved in a lot of the key moments. Will it be a good season or will the board have had enough of my reckless spending? Who knows... but we'll soon find out!

Moving in to my 3rd season there was good news as the wage budget was increased to £2,200 p/week but in order to even compete with the lesser teams in the Conference South I still had to overspend on player wages. At the end of pre season wage spend totaled at £2,900 & this was seriously hurting the club's finances but it was the only way to avoid relegation.

Middlesborough & Leeds United were the full time visitors to Kingsmeadow this summer, both walking away with wins. A 6:1 victory over Combined Counties side South Park was also a positive note.

As has been the case for the majority of my time at K's, the Conference South campaign started off inconstantly & the team picked up 2 wins, 2 draws & 2 defeats in the first 6 games. After beating Isthmian Division One South side Chipstead in the FA Cup, K's crashed out at home to arch rivals Sutton United in the 3rd Qualifying Round.

Unlike the previous season where K's found their form at various stages of the season, this time round the club only once managed to string 2 league wins together in what turned out to be a very disappointing season. There was some joy in the FA Trophy as Kingstonian overcame Conference National side (& landlords) AFC Wimbledon after a replay, following that with an impressive win over Conference National team Yeovil Town (also after a replay). Forest Green Rovers defeated K's in the 3rd Round to put an end to the Trophy run.

Kingstonian finished the league season as they started it & ended up in 16th place, the same finish as 2 seasons ago. I knew this was going to be a tough job from the moment I took over but I clearly underestimated the financial ability of the club. I'm going to consider my future after the end of next season if we fail to improve.

K's Break Budget For Marginal Improvement

The start of my 2nd season in charge of Kingstonian started with some bad news: the already small wage budget (that stood at £2,000 p/w) had been slashed by £200 to just £1,800 p/w. Pre season went well with the visit of Scottish giants Rangers selling out the ground & provided the club with some much needed income. The K's also managed to record a 3:0 victory over League One side Crawley Town. At the end of pre season I was well over my wage budget but this is necessary in what I considered to be a 'do or die' season.

The wage budget gamble payed off as Kingstonian raced out of the blocks at the start of the league campaign with a run of 3 wins & a draw starting with a 1:0 victory over Dartford. K's went on with fine form in the league, floating around the play off zone in the early parts of the season. Another exit in the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round at the hands of Basingstoke Town was a real financial blow to the club.

The K's sunk to poor form crashing out of the FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round & seeing only 4 victories in the 16 league games between November & the end of January. With the season all but over I tried to ease the financial burden on the club by releasing the high-wage players that didn't live up to their expectations, while leaving enough of the senior squad intact to not get involved in the relegation dog fight. The team finished in 13th place in the Conference South but in all honesty was a failure as I had vastly overspent on wages in order to at least make the play offs.

Hope you will/have go up next year, how have Woking done?

Narrowly missed out on the play offs every season since I left & are one of only a few Conference National clubs with finances better than insecure! Had to join Kingstonian though... even if I had won promotion to the Football League with Woking.

    From Aces To Kings

Having just won the FA Trophy & narrowly missing out on the Conference National play offs I was keen to progress with Woking but the promotion of Kingstonian to the Conference South meant that I could take over managerial duties at my favorite football team. I resigned from my position at Woking on 27th June 2013 & joined Kingstonian on 1st July 2013. This was more of a challenge then I originally thought as I had to build the team from scratch with very limited resources; the complete opposite from my first season on the other side of Surrey. Pre season wasn't great results wise but it was all part of the process to build a squad capable of keeping Kingstonian in the Conference South. The one summer victory being a 4:1 win over Leatherhead of the Isthmian Premier.

We got off to a wining start in the league campaign thanks to a strong team performance in a 2:0 victory at Eastbourne Borough but the early hope soon faded as the K's went 4 games without a win. After further inconsistencies & a run to the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round (2:1 away defeat to Conference National side Havant & Waterlooville) the red & white hooped team found their form & began a rise up the table sitting 10th & within touching distance of the play off zone by December.

With things looking like they were on the up it came as a shock when game after game suddenly turned to defeats. There was to be no repeat of my FA Trophy luck with Woking as Ebbsfleet United of the Conference National put us out 4:1 in the 1st Round. Kingstonian did however manage to scrape enough points together to be safe from relegation & have a relaxing final few games of the season, only playing for pride rather then their Conference South status.
