Rab's Metropolitan Man Career : 3
Posted 12 Jan 2012
For those who never followed my previous thread I was attempting the Metropolitan Man challenge and was six seasons into my game with Greek side Panionios. I had transformed the club from a mid table side to a side which won three consecutive titles. Success also came of the filed with improved facilities a bank balance of £30M and a new stadium under construction. With a squad average age of 21 I was on the verge of big things.
Then my game encountered Microsoft Visual C Runtime errors making progress impossible. It seems that FM12's excessive memory demands was too much for my PC (with 4GB RAM) to handle, SI have my save so all might not be lost, but I’m not waiting around on them trying to come up with a fix and have decided to attempt this challenge again with a new save; if the unlikely happens and my old save is fixed I will probably switch back depending on how this save progresses.
Challenge:
Start at any club that is based in Istanbul, Paris, London, Moscow, St Petersburg, Berlin or Athens and win the Champion’s League. Rinse and repeat until you have seven Champion’s Leagues on your managerial CV
Leagues
In order to save memory I have cut seven leagues away from my previous set up;
-
England - Premiership & Championship -
France - Ligue 1 & Ligue 2 -
Germany - Bundesliga & 2. Bundesliga -
Greece - Superleague -
Premier League & Pervyj Division -
Turkey - Super Lig.
Honours
Greece
AEK Athens
- Greek Super League - 2012/13
- Kupello Hellas Cup - 2014

Q. Why are there two different xml files?
A. As the folder names suggest one xml file contains club specific adboards and one doesn’t. This has been done as in previous patches people have complained that they see clubs specific adboards in cup competitions. Due the way the xml file there is no way around this using code. The only solution would be the use of two files.
For example say you are Arsenal and want Arsenal specific adboards in the Premiership and the Champions league adboards in the Champions League you would follow these steps;
1. Load up FM with the Club Specific config file in use
2. Play your league game (Arsenal ads will show)
3. Before your Champions League game Save and quit FM12
4. Replace the club specific config file with the non club config file.
5. Re boot FM12
6. Play your Champions League match (Champions League ads will show) -

I'm a bit bored with FM11 right now so I'm attempting to something a bit different with a custom database I've been developing over the past few days.
Stay tuned!
