ENGLAND'S YOUNGEST PRO MANAGER
The Gary Redfield Story

http://news.ladbrokes.com/en-gb/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/kr1.jpg

Hi there, thanks for joining me. I'm RyanPatrick and this is my first FM story on SortitoutSI. As of right now, you're not going to know exactly which club I'll be managing. In fact, you won't know that for a few updates. I'm intentionally keeping you in the dark about this one so as to build a bit of suspense and give myself the opportunity to create a bit of a back story so that there is a plausible reason for my young manager to be taking over as manager of the club I'm choosing.

The first update will be the biography of our hero, Gary Redfield, followed by some news clippings about happenings in the English Premier League which won't directly involve Gary. Then we'll have Gary hired on and then we'll get started with the story. Just so you all know, the save is actually currently underway and the first bit will be somewhat retroactive in terms of updates, but we'll quickly catch up and then be updating as I go along.

Anyway, I look forward to your feedback and your advice and, as always, thanks for reading.

JUST WHO IS THIS GARY REDFIELD ANYWAY?
The Biography

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/72595000/jpg/_72595135_pa-16226956.jpg
He gets stuck in, that's for sure!

REDFIELD, Gary Robert was born on August 23, 1980 in Poplar, London to Jack Phillip Redfield, a professional footballer, and his wife, Mary. At the age of 16, Gary was signed onto a youth contract with Wimbledon F.C. and played his youth football at the club. At 18, he was signed onto a professional contract for Wimbledon and made his starting XI debut at the age of 19, playing at centre back against Queen's Park Rangers in an FA Cup tie. His introduction to the first team would be stop-and-start at Wimbledon, and he would feature in the starting XI regularly until he was 22. However his solid performances in the back, coupled with his leadership qualities soon had him noticed by bigger clubs. In 2004, after 2 years of impressing for Wimbledon, Redfield was transferred to another London club, Tottenham Hotspur (the club he had supported as a boy), for 1.3 million pounds. Once again, Redfield found himself coming off the bench but now in the Premier League. At 26, he began to start regularly for Spurs and earned the nickname Redfaced Redfield for his aggressive brand of tackling. At 26, he would also earn his first cap for England and he would go on to earn 35 more, and score 6 goals for the Lions.

At 29, Redfield was transfered once again, up north this time, to Manchester United, for 2.2 million, where he would find himself on the bench more often than not. In 2011, Redfield was seriously injured in training and his playing career was ended. His leadership qualities, however, attracted Sir Alex Ferguson who offered to keep Redfield on as a youth coach at the United academy. Redfield accepted the position and worked with the United youth for a year and a half before being offered a job at MK Dons to coach the first team. In February of 2013, Redfield was offered the role of Assistant Manager at MK Dons and accepted and has been working in that role for the last six months.

Arsenal fire Arsene Wenger

http://www.breakingnews.ie/media/images/a/ArseneWenger_large.jpg

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been sacked according to reports out of Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman has been in charge of the Gunners for the last 16 years, and has led the club to great glory in the late nineties and early two-thousands but has failed to win any major competitions since 2006.

The Arsenal faithful were growing more and more tired of Wenger at the helm and what they viewed as their team's consistent under-performance. Chairman Chips Kezwick, who has been a firm supporter of Wenger's, finally caved to the pressure and sacked his club's long-time manager. In a statement posted on Arsenal's club website, Kezwick said "it is with a heavy heart that I announce that Arsenal Football Club has parted ways with manager Arsene Wenger. Arsene has served this club for the better part of two decades and his service will be remembered as one of the club's best. However, the time has come for Arsenal to have a change and we believe that a new manager can be the spark needed to light a fire and bring us more trophies for years to come."

Marcello Lippi, currently at Guangzhou in China, is the early favourite to take the job, although other names, such as Blackburn's Gary Bowyer, and Juventus' Antonio Conte have been mentioned. Lippi said that "Arsenal are a fantastic club and anyone would be lucky to be the manager there."

Steve Bould, Arsenal's assistant manager, has taken over as interim manager while the club search for a replacement.

Wenger was not able to be reached for a comment.

Arsenal Hire Lippi

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/10/12/article-0-06ACD6EA000005DC-661_468x380.jpg

Former Italy boss, Marcello Lippi, is the new manager at Emirates Stadium.

Lippi leaves Chinese club, Guangzhou, after a short tenure in order to return to European football. Arsenal, who sacked long-time manager, Arsene Wenger, last week have now signed what many consider to be a top-class manager to replace him. Lippi spent two years as Italy manager after spending several years with Italy's top clubs. This move marks Lippi's first foray into English football and what many Arsenal faithful will hope is a glorious return to European football.

The 2003 Italian Serie A manager of the year said in a press conference that he was "extremely proud to be taking over such an immense club with such a history. Arsenal have always been a club that I respect and enjoy a great deal and I look forward to working with the players and staff there to realize the dreams of the supporters who have been excellent in recent years."

The club Chairman, Chip Kezwick, released a short statement where he expressed his excitement at having signed such a tremendous manager whom he hoped would make an immediate impact. "The fact of the matter is that, with Arsenal, we are never happy unless we're lifting trophies. I believe, and the Board agrees with me, that Marcello is the man to make that happen in the nearest possible time frame."

Lippi has been informed that he has the board's full backing and can make changes as he deems necessary.

Meanwhile, Guangzhou are looking for their next manager. Gary Monk of Swansea has been tipped as a favourite.

Caretaker manager of Swansea, Gary Monk, has moved to Guangzhou to manager the club on a permanent basis.

The Chinese outfit recently lost their manager, Marcello Lippi, to the Gunners. The replacement, as was widely expected, is Gary Monk who was operating as caretaker at the Welsh side, Swansea. The deal will see Monk make more than twice what he made a year at Swansea

Tim Sherwood Signs with Swansea

http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/67/590x/04147378-467769.jpg

The Spurs caretaker has signed on with Swansea after reportedly being told by Chairman Levy that he would not be given a full time contract as manager at White Hart Lane.

Swansea City, who have been in the search for a manager since firing Dutch international Michael Laudrup earlier in the year, announced the name of their new manager today at a press conference at the Liberty Stadium. Chairman Huw Jenkins said he was "absolutely elated" by the new signing and said he believes that "Tim will be able to unite our entire club behind our major goals which are to continue progressive in our development and to eventually start fighting for European places. Tim's success as both a player and a manager in the past make me very optimistic about his future with our club."

Sherwood said that while he was sad to leave Tottenham after spending ten years at the club, he believed this was a very positive step, giving him his first experience as a full-time first team manager. "I spoke to Daniel [Levy, Spurs Chairman] and he told me that the club were going to look for a new manager and wanted to keep me on as reserves manager as I had been before. After speaking with my family and some close friends, I decided that the best thing for me to do with my career was to push on and find a job as manager at another club. Swansea City are an exciting football club and I'm more than pleased to be able to take over the helm. What they've managed to do in the last few years is absolutely astounding and I know that we have a very good chance now of carrying that momentum forward and developing into a perennial Premier League club."

Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy said that while he was disappointed by Tim's decision to leave the club, he understood it and wished him only the best. "Tottenham will continue to seek a new manager and Chris Ramsey, the assistant, will take on the duties of manager until such a time as one can be found," he said. "We hope to have a new manager in place by week's end."

Tottenham Hire Redfield as Manager

http://static.givemefootball.com/gmf/files/21/21dd64ba-8398-4037-bf38-57f96bb3736d_04e45f1f-cfda-465e-b125-7c9696cce12f.jpg

Tottenham Hotspur have finally found their new manager in the form of 32-year-old former MK Dons assistant, Gary Redfield.

Refield, who played for Tottenham over three years, has been assistant manager at MK Dons for just six months but now he is in charge at White Hart Lane and the former England international is looking to inject some life into things. "Tottenham are the club I've supported since I was a boy; I thought I was in dream land when they signed me and I played for them, and now to be able to be the manager here for Spurs is like a second chance to live my dream. I'm over the moon, honestly."

Daniel Levy, the club's Chairman, was quick to dispel any concern that supporters may have about the untested nature of their club's new manager. "Gary is young, and sure he hasn't had the experience as the top boss that maybe some of the other candidates for the job might have had, but after having had extensive conversations with Gary, I am confident that he has exactly what we need at this club to push forward and really make a run at the Champions' League and, honestly, at the league title within the next five years."

President of the Club's supporters group, Ray Gordon, said that the signing was a shock, but that he had faith in the new manager. "Well, frankly, we've got to support this one because we can't go on like we have been. Ten managers in as many years is just not a good recipe for success. I know there are a lot of us supporters out there who are scratching our heads about hiring on such an unseasoned manager, but he did well for us as a player and he's done well as a coach and manager elsewhere and he's got international experience so I guess it really could be worse. Either way, he has my support."

RTottenham Victorious Against Manchester City

http://tottenhamdaily.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/45945_10151713279283505_1112694575_n.jpg

Roberto Soldado struck the only goal of the game that saw Tottenham Hotspur defeat Premier League favourites, Manchester City.

The north London side shocked the giants from the north when they popped in a goal just 17 minutes after the halftime break and then held the Citizens to a clean sheet. Spurs manager, Gary Redfield said he was "absolutely delighted" with the win and believed that this win would give the team the confidence to push on and achieve even more excellent results in all competitions.

Soldado has been talismanic so far this season, scoring four goals in six starts in all competitions. The Spanish striker said that he was "very proud" of his current form and "feel like carrying on very well."

Spurs next major challenge will be against cross-town rivals, Chelsea, next week after a Europa League tie against Greek club Atromitos.

Tottenham Defeat Chelsea Challengers

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/12/28/article-2530373-1A4BF73000000578-40_634x372.jpg

Danish attacking midfielder, Christian Eriksen, led Tottenham to a 3-1 victory, notching two goals and setting up a key pass for Togolese Striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Spurs faithful will be overjoyed at the 3-1 result against major rivals Chelsea, coming off the back of a 1-0 defeat of Manchester City the week before. Christian Eriksen, the Danish superstar midfielder, was the man of the match scoring two of Tottenham's three goals. Geriatric Chelsea striker, Samuel Eto'o scored the Blues' only goal in what will go down as a bitterly disappointing defeat for Chelsea and Manager Jose Mourinho who, before the match, engaged in a bit of a war of words with Spurs' manager Gary Redfield.

The Portuguese manager, somewhat renowned for his mind games, accused Redfield of being patronizing after the Spurs boss expressed sympathy for Mourinho given Chelsea's underperformance. After the match, Redfield said "I really do feel for Jose; he's a great manager and his squad are clearly not up to playing for him. It's a sad situation when that happens to anyone, especially someone as proud as he is."'

The victory catapulted Spurs into the top position of the Premier League and extended their all-competition unbeaten run to seven matches. Spurs' next major test will come against Liverpool on November 25.
