BIG PHIL NAMED CHELSEA BOSS

Posted Image

Chelsea fans and players can breathe a sigh of relief today as Luis Felipe Scolari was revealed as the new first team boss following almost two months of speculation over the successor to Avram Grant.

The Brazilian who guided his country to World Cup glory in 2002 was linked with the vacant post in London for almost the last two months, Scolari who was with the Portuguese national side in Austria and Switzerland competing at the UEFA European Championships remained quiet for the duration of the tournament.

It is believed that Chelsea chairmen Roman Abramovich has handed the Brazilian a one year deal worth more then £2,000,000 and if rumours are to be believed it is worth noting that Abramovich has apparently backed the former Brazil and Portugal boss with a massive £53,000,000 to go spend in the transfer market, the Russians goal of winning the Champions League final the top priority for Scolari.

BBC Sport will bring you more on this story when it happens, a press conference is set to take place tomorrow at Stamford Bridge where Scolari will speak to the press for the first time as Chelsea boss.

"I WANT RESPECT" DEMANDS SCOLARI

Posted Image

Luis Felipe Scolari or Big Phil as he is better known as in England today took charge of his first press conference as new Chelsea boss and the Brazilian had much to say, even with his basic English skills the message was simple, Chelsea must win trophies by attacking and he wants to be respected by the clubs high profile players.

"We must attack, to win you must score," Scolari responded when asked how the Chelsea side would play under his reign.

In a blatant attack however on the former Brazil coach, Sun reporter Lee Davis wondered if Scolari's lack of English would impact upon the players preparations and performances, a suggestion that Scolari laughed off.

"I do not think so, professional footballers like Terry and Lampard won't have problems. Football is football, in Portuguese, Spanish, English and Dutch."

Scolari then took the time to warn the clubs players that he will not tolerate the I'm a star attitude in on and off the pitch.

"Maybe past managers met with no respect, this time be very different, I want respect from now until end of season at least. If we win, we win as a team, if we lose, we lose as a team, nobody is better then anyone."

With the press conference coming to an end however attentions turned from Scolari's arrival to transfer rumours and recent reports linking Juventus striker David Trezeguet to Chelsea where to the shock of everyone not dismissed by Scolari himself.

"David is a very complete striker, he scores goals with feet and his head. He would do very well at Chelsea. Maybe we see what happens. The player must want a move, that is the first hurdle."

SPURS SEAL FERREIRA TRANSFER

Posted Image

After 91 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, Paulo Ferreira has made the short trip from Stamford Bridge to White Hart Lane in a deal worth £2,000,000, the Portuguese international rejecting Benfica and Manchester City for life at White Hart Lane under Juande Ramos.

Just three days after Phil Scolari took charge at Stamford Bridge, one of a few summer departures left Chelsea. Right back Paulo Ferreira who joined the London outfit back in 2004 from FC Porto for £13,000,000 today completed a medical with Tottenham Hotspur.

An official statement on Chelsea websites read,

Full Article can be found at www.chelseafc.com
"It is with deep regret that Chelsea Football Club wishes Paulo Ferreira all the best for the future. Paulo has conducted himself as a professional throughout his affiliation with the club and we wish him all the best as he embarks on the next journey of his career at Tottenham."

Ferreira who turns 30 next year arrived back in 2004 after Jose Mourinho had guided FC Porto to Champions League glory. Ferreira who linked up with Mourinho at Stamford Bridge went on to become a pivotal piece of the Mourinho jigsaw that saw the club win back to back Premier League titles under the Portuguese managers guidance.

Things turned somewhat for the right back when Mourinho was sacked by Roman Abramovich, his successor Avram Grant preferring to play Michael Essien at right back as Ferreria saw his first team opportunities limited.

Ferreira may start for Spurs in their first pre season clash in five days time, Juande Ramos men taking on Dutch side RBC Roosendaal at Rosada Stadion.

TREZEGUET SOON TO BE A BLUE

Posted Image

David Trezeguet is set to become Phil Scolari's first signing as Chelsea boss within the next 48 hours after Juventus accepted an undisclosed offer for the former French international.

What a difference a day makes. Well to be more precise what a difference five short periods of 24 make. It might be only five days since Phil Scolari took over at Stamford Bridge but already he has offloaded Paulo Ferreira from the Chelsea side and now looks set to land another world class striker.

If David Trezeguet makes the switch from Serie A side Juventus to Chelsea, it shows a few things.

Firstly that the Chelsea boss deems it nesscacary to add to the strike force at the club. With only Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba out and out strikers at the club, Scolari has given his first hint at what formation he may play, it will involve two strikers.

Secondly if reports are to be believed, a fee of just under £16,000,000 isn't bad for Trezeguet who is only 30 and will most likely hit the peak of his powers at Stamford Bridge if provided with the chances.

Lastly it shows that maybe just maybe Abramovich has got it right, the arrival of Trezeguet would signal another big name joining the club but a proven one at that. This signing seems to be the doing of Scolari and not the chairmen, can anyone remember Andriy Shevchenko?

Trezeguet who scored 130 goals in his eight seasons at the Serie A side is a proven goal scorer and if the powerful striker can link up well with either Anelka or Drogba, he may just well fire them to another Premier League title or fans may dare to dream of European glory come May in Rome.
