I usually loose to man united 2-1 arsenal 2-1 chelsea 2-1, mancity 1-0

But I beat Liverpool, totenham and everton twice, Im in my First season, with aston villa 8th in the leaugue, 3 games in hand so can get too 3rd. But my main problem is loosing to teams such as fulham, bolton, westham, especially due too last minute goals, or them coming back from 2 nothing and equalizing in the second half. Any advice on what I can do?

And also, I dont use training for any of my players, is it really important for their future growth? and if so can you give me any tips.

My squad is
Gk: Khameni
Lb: srna cb: yobo cb:mexes rb:von bronchorst
Dplaymaker:khedira DM:annan

DW:Milner W:young

AP:arda

Poacher:balletoli/agbonlahor/lorriente

Any advice on how to train them/ not conceding late.

Thanks before hand.

What is your starting strategy? Once you go a goal or two up it is worth going down to Standard. In the last 10 minutes if the opposition are really attacking switch to Counter and you could grab a goal to seal the win. You can also try lots of time wasting but this could back fire. Use your subs wisely too, don't use all three at once, bring them on at different points, so later on in the game you can bring off tired players for fresh players.

With your formation it all depends on what the opposition do. If they go 4-2-4 it might be worth you dropping Arda back to CM. Or dropping a DM back into the defence. If you keep trying different things eventually you will find out what ways work best for your team to hang onto leads.

Training isn't essential to player growth, players will still improve but they may not reach their full potential. There are lots of factors that determine a player reaching his full potential, these include mental stats, training, match time, staying injury free and you'll need a bit of luck along the way too.

I play

4 at the back

2 defensive midfielders one on support other on defense

Right and left backs on attack, change to defense when we go ahead in the second half, if im playing big team start with them on defense.

Milner as a defensive winger(support duty), bring him back to almost my half sometimes, other times leave him on par with young.
Young as a winger(attack)

Arda as a advanced play maker(attack)

And striker as a poacher on attack.

My starting stragety is attacking

Fluid, creativity lots, passing short

I put 5 at the back by bringing on boateng or rodwell and taking off milner when I am in the lead, then I play counter and direct passing, I put arda on support as cm mid, and leave young and striker up top, I put everyone else on defense.

Time wasting usually leads to me being attack really hard, even by a team such as burnley they control the ball in the last 10 minutes and give it their all by crossing constently, I concede most of my goals through crosses in the last 10-15 minutes.

Thanks for replying mate.

It might be due to you playing too Attacking too early, your players might not be good enough for that system as they will be getting forward a lot but also tracking back a lot. This will lead to them getting very tired.

With the crosses what happens? Does the winger beat your FB cross the ball? Does your FB stand off too much allowing the opposing winger to get the ball in easily? Are your CBs always being beat in the air? Are your players being dragged out of position while closing down?

You don't want to go too defensive either, as the opposition will just come at you with wave after wave. It actually might be worth only playing one DMC and moving the other DMC into MC. It's just all about playing on with different things and finding out what clicks.

Annan is a disaster waiting to happen sometimes, he gets a yellow card in almost every game and has already been sent off twice, usually in the first half for consistent fouling.

We have scored 26 goals and conceded 13 I believe.

Vanbronchorst is world class, 34 years old expirienced, not one mistake and plays almost every game as captian AND he takes my penalties, had 3 scored 3, so I plan on leaving him there. The problem comes from Srna's wing, players like Eagles of sunderland skin him, or cross the ball in early whilst my centre back is out of posistion.

What usually happens there CM passes to their Left wing, whilst that happens my players are running back, mexes ends up running towards the left wing whilst srna stands around or runs into the box, that LW then crosses early, which leads to a header far post or tap in near.

I will try playing with Khedira cm and see if that works.

Ps, my aim is getting into the champions leauge this season, and maybe a title mount next when my players know eachother better and speak the language.
I have bought youth and expirience in appiah srna vanbronchorst mexes yobo etc.

Also my players have latly been complaining and unhappy because we are underachieving, every game I play they warn me "this is his last chance in this game, loose and he might get fired" its pretty iritating.
We are 8th but have 3 games in hand so we can get to 3rd or 4th, only problem is I said "winner" in expectations at the beggining of the season.
We are also in the carling cup semi final vs chelsea and fa cup
And europe leauge first round vs valencia.

I am considering to go on the attack at home and away play counter with 5 at the back.

Players like Annan are always disasters waiting to happen, but if you can reign them in a bit they can be stars. You don't want him closing down too much or tackling too hard as he will get reckless, as a box to box MC players like him have always done me well.

Try lowering Mexes' closing down and making Srna more defensive or have him man marking the opposing winger, it may solve your problems but it may also create new ones. Just keep experimenting.

Probably a mistake to go Winner, I think you should always pick the lowest targets that the board will give you. Players are always there to be bought if you use your scouts effectively and money can always be raised through selling players, so there isn't really a need to heap the pressure on yourself and your players.

I wouldn't alter your formations too much either from home to away games, if you are winning games but you can identify the problems with your tactics then you only need slight changes to eradicate these problems, but as I said, once you solve one problem another may surface. You'll never make a perfect tactic but you can make a tactic that cuts out weaknesses you identify.

How do I make individuals man mark?
And how do I get them to make runs which I want them to make?

I will post screen shots in a little bit.

I will do as you say with mexes.

Annan does all the dirty work for the team, he hardly ever leaves his own half and if he does its to the semi circle, he has 19 tackeling and I tell my team to tackle hard.

I dont change my formation except for milner who I bring lower down or higher up.

And if I dont win the leauge what will happen????????

On the tactics screen click the little arrow next to your players' name(to the left of the screen) Then click on Advanced(next to Instructions and Tactics) Tick Marking and select Man, on the match day change this to the player you want him to mark, last year man marking wingers worked very well, but I haven't really tried it this year, so that could be worth a shot.

You can't dictate a players run massively, you can change players mentalities but you can't force them to make runs.

You might get sacked or you might not. You'll probably get sacked unless you get yourself in and around first place.

when im in my last 5 mins and the opponents up the tempo and attack i would change to contain tactics and start subbing players 1 by 1 to waste more time.

Im playing chelsea next in the FA cup semi final second leg.

Lost 3-1 at home, not sure what to do now, my heart tells me go all out attack, but my head tells me be sensible and try and control the game.

If any of you have tips you can lend me then thanks, and thanks for all the comments realy appreciated.

AND Chelsea 1-4 at their stadium, we where leading 0-3 through balletoli arda and goucruff, when anelka got one back, but we finished them off in style through arda turan 81st minute winner.

What I do is:

Have four at the back, stick the full backs to defend.
Play a defensive midfield and set up to defend
Two central midfielders both box to box
Play a winger wide attack right and left
Stick a player in the middle

Go counter on strategy, stick width at maximum, tick counter attack and bang on the break you'll probably score again.
