Welcome to what will hopefully be my mainstay of a career on FM17. I've tried this career once before although I did lose interest after a while but I hope to keep it up this year! I'm following in the footsteps of @Dan and @Shedender who are both attempting this career.

The aim is simple, to win every trophy available on the game, which I understand is no mean feat and means a lot of game time. This probably won't be completed but I will do my very best to pick up a decent amount of trophies along the way. I don't really know how I'll choose my path around the globe but the following setup is where I'll start.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/twoOOatgwe5hS0OebZ58NActH6EY3CSXGHjWzjkb.png

I've decide to load up the Scandinavian leagues: Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. A difficult place to start but somewhere different than in the British Isles and also somewhere I've hardly managed before so a complete and utter challenge to start of with. So it's time to jump on a plane and see where I end up...

Meet the Manager

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/a1fHPCWd0tHPcFUXUrb4GtuAs5TyUDFFGz0MnbYk.png

Here he is, Mark Tonge, born in Northwich in the North West of England in the rural county of Cheshire. A young manager with no experience apart from Sunday League and a substitute at that. No coaching qualifications to his name but with a huge pass
on for the game the will surely change quickly. His favourite team 'Northwich Victoria' are a club with a lot of history and he will be modelling his game on that of the mighty Trickies. As you can see, my stats aren't the best but these can easily change and hopefully will very quickly as I gain a bit of momentum.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/NwSzclD6QaqDQ00xWCqB71zpIUI4ks2StViKGRSE.png

At the start of my game, only two jobs are available. Both in Norway, and both at the bottom tier of the country. I've applied for both so hopefully I can find my new home in one of them. I best buy a plane ticket to Norway.

Welcome to Norway

I landed in Norway after sending my CVs off to the two available teams and as soon as I had a working sim card, two emails came through. I had been offered two interviews. Not a bad start to the career. Now to try and impress them with the very little Norwegian I know.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/87CTlBmVfSOklv0sAI8lUxw116N7YRBZ4SoyIMZl.png

Both interviews completed, I went back to my hotel and proceeded to explore Norway and all it had to offer whilst the boards of the respective clubs pondered over their decision.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xFhnQE73HbmobfXYhPVbMliIiMQXxxPXKoZkUQHM.png

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8DGfKpmAu5oWITJDw2mh40zcZDtw7ZgHb3giljNd.png

I had managed to charm someone, and it's time to pack my bags. Fana is my first destination and I couldn't be more excited to start my managerial career. The money isn't good but its a start. (Tønsberg offered a contract to another manager, a poor decision from their board in my personal opinion)

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cr2bNIcGefTX4UBLnTVSrMtldvK5RxzhzKTtDyP0.png

The board want me to battle against relegation but that clearly isn't the aim for me. The league is what I want, and hopefully with a few additions this is what I can deliver (wishful thinking eh?)

Welcome to Fana, a little football club in Norway. I don't expect to be here long, but just long enough to challenge for a few trophies at least. So lets take a look at what I have to work with. A decent sized quad with obvious talent in there. I quite clearly need a CB or two to add some depth as we only have one on board with us. Up top we have a few great players who I hope can score a lot of goals between them. Lets see...

http://i.imgur.com/a5Uj1uo.png

Heggland seems to be my best player and is on loan from Brann who are in the Norwegian Premier League so hopefully his quality can lead the way at the back. My best player up top is Flo, who is only loan from Sogndal who are also in the Premier League. I'm hoping these two can be the catalyst to my trophy aims here at Fana.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/uqYfEwSj8eO0yXCQ6y5xjnKdwleyITr7Z5U7tbDW.png

Staff wise, there isn't a lot to talk you through. Alongside the chairman and myself, we have my Assistant who can hopefully get my message across to the players whilst I learn the language, and 3 coaches who will take the majority of training sessions for me whilst I will look to do the tactical side of the job.

Mid Season Update

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DZCVblzIH9ztM9zNPx5fMDprvyHexSX52dK2JhhO.png

So my life has begun in Fana, that small and isolated town in Norway with an equally small footballing culture. It was a struggle to get players to come and play for me because of the small budget I had with little to no movement in the wage bill and also no transfer money but I made a few signings that I thought could strengthen the team. I've decide on playing the classic 4-2-3-1 formation that is everywhere in modern football, as my best striker loves to feed off long direct balls and is best suited as a Target Man so I'm building my squad around him.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/MTkPYJT2CgTtr713m6RU8U1xaOXXNPyCuevkj1Vv.png

So, we sit exactly half way through the season and I've had a very mixed bag of results. Defensively we don't look too strong having conceded 17 in the 13 games we've played in the league. Fredrik Flo, our esteemed striker has hit the ground running and has a fair few goals, although we need more if we are to challenge for any silverware in the next few years. Consistency seems to be the main problem, and we seem to go on a run of good form quickly followed by a run of bad form so I need to sort that out. The 4-2 victory against Florø stands out to me as our best performance.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/B6iTlGIji2FFUngdvvG2Dny6ZP910wzcsLszgUi2.png

We sit in 7th which isn't to bad considering our results. It is probably a fair position but not where I wanted to be. Egersunds really are running away with the league having only lost the one solitary game so the title doesn't seem likely this season. The league rules state that the bottom 7 clubs will get relegated to the league below so I sit on the cusp of relegation although being mid table (confusing). Hopefully I can get a bit of good form and finish in the top 3. That's my aim anyway.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/O0i4y8sgycCMcLmoB6Nm7S0JobUxaWexLtS8O7O5.png

The Norwegian cup was one as quickly as it started for us. A great 3-0 victory in the first round following quickly by a 4-1 defeat to a team way up the leagues so I wasn't too disappointed. Success was never on the cards in that cup with this team.

END OF SEASON UPDATE: FANA FOOTBALL

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DZCVblzIH9ztM9zNPx5fMDprvyHexSX52dK2JhhO.png

So my first season in Norway and in my career has come to an end, and it's one that has been trophy less for me. A poor start to my trophy hunting career but I've enjoyed my time here and I think I may extend my stay and see how I can do next year. Unless a really good opportunity comes up Fana Football will be where I manage next season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JmcJud00vM4JdZ4EOD6SN2reAYGBTWldfvSJh8DR.png

As you can see we ended the season having done pretty well. A run of wins helped us climb the league and Fredrik Flo scored a few important goals for us. I found a few loan deals which also helped strengthen the squad, something that I think will help the team press on next season and could be the way to win my first trophy. The 4-1 victory against Vidar stands out as the best victory in the 2nd half of the season. Lets hope we get a few more like that next year.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/kRd9RflHnKLW9TX0Ih9KeYi466sM2ZJSGydCpxZC.png

We managed to climb a few places from the mid season mark and finished in 5th position. The final day defeat meant that we dropped from 4th to 5th although a win cold have taken us 2nd. Egersunds managed to complete their dominance and wrapped up the league with a few games to go. Im glad they've gone as they totally ran away with it and I hope its me in their position soon.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/s11mGuSsv89XAvTXjJKXNutAYz7MzfGkGVLTKDvU.png

Flo won the best player of the year and the young player of the year and he thoroughly deserved those awards. I've managed to extend his loan for another season which I'm delighted with. The signing of the season confused me as I never played him. Weird decision.

MID SEASON ROUND UP 2017

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DZCVblzIH9ztM9zNPx5fMDprvyHexSX52dK2JhhO.png

So the second season in charge of Fana Football and the fixtures came out. A load of teams I hadn't heard of and didn't play last season. Confused? I was, I hadn't got promoted and I hadn't got relegated. I had been moved into a new league. I'm guessing its like a north/south divide and I was on the border between the two. Anyway, a new league isn't always bad and I hoped this one was weaker than the old one.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aJyiZMIJpbxjfKFiaB2v81S1GJc7pGlrcJcQBrlq.png

League wise we fared fairly well. A mixture of bad games and good games which basically summed up our first season as well. Form is our worst nightmare and something I'm struggling with. If we can find a run of good form we can easily challenge for the title this season. Unlike last season we don't have a team running away with the league but we are still a fair way behind. A good second half to the season and we will be fighting for that top spot.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/noiapKOWdwMhJwTCnKcPBIB6kFAj80gg4JJk240S.png

Stromsgodset lead the way at the halfway point and we are currently 8 points adrift, a gap that isn't to bad but is still further than I would like to be. Unlike the other league, if I finish in second we enter the playoffs which probably is my best bet at promotion (which I will count as the trophy) so lets hope for 2nd or above.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8yDlp4HMiVyK0FX5d8Rg6vDziu4cgr9W75qX0TaF.png

Cup wise we did a bit better than last season and got to the third round. We beat a top tier team as well in Haugesund on penalties which set us up with Lillestrom who totally outplayed us and deserved their win. Progress is being made though, albeit too slow for my liking!

End of Season Update 2017

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DZCVblzIH9ztM9zNPx5fMDprvyHexSX52dK2JhhO.png

My second season in charge of Fana Football and my second season in my management career has come to an end! We sat mid table after the first half go the season and we were struggling with consistency and form. I'm pleased to say the following happened.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/qXlS9sFRsHHeMyPi1Eb5breGl7Sl3OXLe2xuqBVp.png

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ZrgVfyZIPPSSDVuvjPBx18FYyH5OTzcj6DkqHZP7.png

We managed to gain promotion to the Norwegian First Divison after finishing 2nd in the league! A remarkable second half of the season meant that it all came down to the last day where I could either finish in the playoff position or win the league! The rules of my challenge means that I'm counting promotions and playoff wins as that league trophy so I'm happy to say that my first trophy is in the cabinet.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/NlrpXOlQmUb2b7mXpF7QIhPlUPJcSStZtdbkrZIc.png

A ridiculous run of 11 games without losing meant that we rocketed up the table and were challenging for the league. At one point I thought we were going to win it but a vital loss on the penultimate game meant that the title wasn't in our hands. A draw on the last day and a win for the eventual winners meant that we finished 2nd and we had claimed an automatic promotion spot.

I also managed to gain my 1st coaching badge and I'm currently working for my 2nd one so hopefully I can gain a new job as I have decided to leave Fana Football club after a lovely 2 seasons in charge. Trophies not Loyalty.

A NEW COUNTRY BECKONS

Well it's been a few months since I resigned as manager of Fana, and I was starting to regret my decision, as the team that I had built there could have challenged in that league in my opinion but I didn't want to get stuck at one club so it was time to move on. I decided to follow the route set by @Dan, and @Shedender and head to the British Isles: Ireland to be precise. It wasn't long till I had found my new club. After my interview was successful, my bags were packed, I left my Norwegian apartment and I flew to the emerald isle.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/a4TayNfNsAXuqLlo1X0NVc073cy2eHTpZf3pqD5d.png

Shamrock Rovers from the Irish Premier Divison had given me my first chance to managed in the home countries. A great opportunity to gain some silverware as well as they are the reigning Irish champions and I fully expect us to challenge for the title again this season. The squad was a bit thin to start with and had no striker in the ranks but I've already made a few signings that I hope will propel the club forward this season. I also had no staff at all which was a bit weird but I've added in the key positions and hope they can help improve the ability within the squad.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PE92tP1ys8CgQN6BepuoVRHLbophqgCLSWrVy8Hm.png

This is the squad that will hopefully be lifting a few trophies high this season. I may add a few more into the ranks to help with squad depth but I feel like I've got a few decent players in the key positions such as GK and CB.

MID SEASON UPDATE 2018

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/a4TayNfNsAXuqLlo1X0NVc073cy2eHTpZf3pqD5d.png

It's half way through the season here in Ireland and I'm enjoying a very positive start to my career here. It was an opportunity that I couldn't turn down as it's definitely a chance to try and win some silverware quickly and add it to my trophy cabinet. Since the last update a few players signed and since I still have the Scandinavian leagues loaded there was an influx of these players into the Irish league which is quite funny to see.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5OLy39nuknBrGT3outU4kPX33k2iQv8ka6ljhHn7.png

I couldn't have wished for a better start, after winning my 2 pre season friendlies, there was an instant chance for silverware and we took it without hesitation. A cracking 4-2 win against St Pats Athletic after extra time. The new players settled in well and I couldn't have scripted it better. 1 trophy ticked off my list here in Ireland.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/OMYtLxogWhLfBsy5K9hw0rFG2HZtjrXKKgl8PTOi.png

Premier League form has been amazing and we have won 10 out of the 16 league games so far this season. We had a dodgy start with 2 draws where we really should have won but form picked up from then and we went on a great run. Emil Aberg and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts have been crucial to this and have notched up 15 goals in the league between them and I hope this form continues throughout the second half. The run of form was cruelly halted by Drogheda where we lost 2-1 but the performance was pleasing and all good things have to come to an end at some point eh?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Y0lnMqNe1O6rYN12WHR6VYTBGexF00ONxQoahqFD.png

This form has led me to be sitting in 2nd position whilst Dundalk sit top of the tree on goal difference. I still feel confident that I can topple them from the top spot and take the title for myself.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nv9c5Ukv7ZUowKJD1ouobmFo1KSaGvuhfMwXtL1r.png

Meanwhile things in the League Cup looked the same as our league form. All in all a good run to the semi finals and who knows, all the way to the final hopefully. 8 goals scored and only 2 conceded mean that we are confident of progressing to the final in the near future.

End of Season Update 2018[/b]

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/a4TayNfNsAXuqLlo1X0NVc073cy2eHTpZf3pqD5d.png

So last time I checked in, I was sat in 2nd in the league at the halfway point, and progressing nicely in the cup competitions. Things were looking rosy. Since then not much has changed. Scoring goals for fun, infant my front two got me 60+ goals between them and one of them got their dream move to Nottingham Forest for £1million. (Not to shabby) I also got my third coaching badge which can only be a help in future job applications.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bkJbUlM6lq4zMYPvDo8wbybQDhOC8Ag4OrGFrspm.png

The final half of the season included 11 victories and 6 of those came in a row through some fantastic finishing from Isaac Buckley Ricketts and Emil Aberg. Following those 6 victories we had a blip in form and I thought we were in for a disappointing season. A 1-1 draw against Dundalk near the end of the season nearly blew it for us. We had to get 2 victories from the last 2 games to ensure we won the league...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cT8A5MPhCYrloUUPUXQFrs0tYiMhU7FVh2OVpZPJ.png

WE DID IT! CHAMPIONS OF IRELAND! ANOTHER TROPHY TICKED OFF!

Champions League

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/hXFrBLVmPh15wJyYZSvZDe6g1PDnYTWpnX4bzS0y.png

We got to try and qualify for the champions league since we won the league last season and although I didn't expect us to get anywhere near the group stages, I still left feeling a bit disappointed after the game against Apoel Nicosia where we could have won the tie but threw it away with a red card in each of the games. A great 2 legged victory against our Welsh rivals TNS was a great way to start however.

Cup Competitions

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4VCaggGNHhXvW5d65YAWWEHn89Acp7S7sKd8HhfQ.png

We lifted the league cup after demolishing Sligo Rovers in extra time. We were level at the end of 90 minutes after Rovers had scraped a draw somehow after we dominated them throughout the game. This ultimately told in extra time where we scored another 3 goals to clinch my third trophy at Shamrock.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/U2Pg04DVh4reXRhMiU7Mzz0P2c9nLduI2CXGyqh3.png

The Senior Challenge cup was up next on my list of trophies to capture. Another one in the cabinet. An epic battle against Galway United in the final where neither team could pull away form each other. Goals were fast and furious but in the end we grabbed a late winner and I would say we fully deserved it on the basis of the game. I would say that Galway could feel unlucky however.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gZECmIC4qj041jSlCXJfBbDD8cfoGksyMAviJoAH.png

My first manager of the year award was an added bonus. Always good to put on the CV.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Kfk1zK4MqvaYo1wRsHyEaXh92YEJQ8QveWFlRWlM.png

My front two gained deserved recognition after bagging a huge amount of goals throughout the season in all competitions. Berg was a class above the rest but Buckley Ricketts wasn't too far off. I'd love to take them to my next club if possible (Aberg the more likely).

I make that 4 trophies for me at Shamrock and I feel that my time is up here. The only trophy that I can win with them now is the Irish Leinster Senior Cup but that doesn't start for a while, so I will attempt to win that on my return to Ireland.

I've accounted a problem in my save :/ would love a fix if possible. I've noticed that all the teams in the new leagues I've added are available to manage which obviously isn't right! I've also seen that none of the real players are at the teams there either which is annoying.

I really don't want to start again, is there a fix?

Well done on adding more trophies to the 'cabinet'. I'm hoping you can sort out the problem you've come across and I hope it's one @Dan, @Parker26 or myself don't end up coming across.
