Spinning Swimming and Screaming through Turkey

So I'm starting a Career thread for the first time in quite a while but its something I've been itching to do. The main point of this is to have a nice long career save and my loose aim is to bring a team up to dominate their nation and then onto their continent. Obviously anything can happen in FM so many goals will come and go but I plan on giving this the long haul. Progress will be slow to begin with as I still have a bunch of assignments to finish for Uni but after May 13th I will be all over this.

So yeah I loaded up a bunch of leagues and decided to start in the lowest league in Turkey. I had a good time in there a few years ago with Ankaragucu and was happy to see they were still there, but with a 1st place prediction i decided I didn't want the pressure too early and instead settled for Korfez FK.



Nothing much to them really, founded in 1995 and have never left Turkeys lowest league. Media prediction is to finish 14th out of 18. No trophies and a bunch of awful players. Just how I like it. As you can see I lost to my own reserve team so there is much work to do with my transfer budget of £0

Also what would you guys recommend for posting in the screenshots, cause I always used to use Photobucket but now its awful.

Thanks too man, Yeah it was actually between Turkey and Sweden for me too as Sweden is notoriously a pain in the arse to get out of the lower leagues. But i've had fun managing in Turkey before so that won me over.

My signings. No money means lots of frees obviously and the club was very thin on the flanks so nabbed a new RB, LB, AML and AMR as well as cover at MC. I dont really know where the squad stands tbh as its pretty awful, some of these players may be cover, some will be first teamers. This first season will be mostly an experiment to find out which players work well and in what formations. As long as I stay away from relegation i'll be happy as I will then be able to begin to move forward. My main tactic will be a 4-5-1 with a DM. My wingers are fairly pacey so I will be playing quick, direct counter attacking football to begin with.



My hopes will mainly lie on Yilmaz. Due to playing 1 up top and utilizing the wings I wanted a Target Man type striker who could score from crosses, bully defences on his own and hold the ball up well and he was the best I could find in the free transfer system.



Also in getting rid of some of the clubs highest earners and replacing them with cheaper alternatives we are now under the wage bill. I want to keep expenditure at the club as small as possible so that in future we can hopefully start having some money with which to build a proper squad. Until then im going to have to rely on some shrewd business in the free markets and whatever youth comes through at the club, which at the moment consists of 4 players in the Reserves and 0 in the U19's

Happy with that for my first game. Yilmaz off to a flying start and another new signing with the other

Drew a team from a higher league in the first round of the cup and got beat 1-0. Not arsed about the cup but the prize money of going a few rounds would have been nice

Taking a break from Uni work today so will be able to crack on with this a bit more. Been on a horrible run of form at the beginning of the season. Hopefully its just a case of new players bedding in or players needing to adapt to the tactics i have implemented. Or maybe the squad just isn't at the level i though it was. Will see how the season goes on

Its following the same pattern unfortunately. I lose a bunch of games in a row and as soon as the press and board start getting on my back the lads pull out another huge win. I'll be very surprised if im still in a job by the end of the season.

Gonna switch to a simple attacking 4-4-2 for the rest of the season as scoring goals has been a huge problem so will go with 2 up top. Its not like i can concede more goals than I am anyway.

Halfway point. Living very dangerously. Performances (if not results) have improved since I switched to 4-4-2 so that gives me some optimism. Also the amount of goals scored by Yilmaz is a positive. Hung all my hopes on him and he's done about as well as can be expected. My bunch of wingers have also done pretty well. The defence however is laughably bad, some of the goals I've been conceding have been ridiculous. Ironic to think this was the part of the squad i thought was strongest at the beginning of the season.

I'll stick with 4-4-2 for the rest of the season and if Yilmaz stays injury free im sure we will be fine and then I can see how/if i can re-shape the squad in the summer. I said I wanted a long haul save and god is this gonna be one.

Yeah its been horrendously inconsistent. We're awful against the teams around us and usually half decent against teams from the top half.

I find that with a load of my saves, always much better against better sides

The board have hauled me in for a meeting threatening to sack me, I begged for another month and they obliged. Hopefully the players wont fail me now

This was our first win in 7. Thought we have blown it but massive MASSIVE goal, If i could afford it that bastard would get a pay rise. A couple more of these and I might still be in a job
