Manchester duo preparing bids for Walker

Tottenham Hotspurs manager Andre Villas-Boas could lose Kyle Walker before the new Premier League season begins after reports linked champions Manchester City and their rivals Manchester United with the 22 year old who signed a new 5 year deal back in May which keeps him at White Hart Lane until 2017.

Walker, 22, was an integral member of the Spurs side that narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last season, the full back making 37 league appearances last season. The North London club finished in fourth spot last season, the last Champions League qualification spot in the Premier League, but failed to qualify for the illustrious competition as a result of Chelsea's victory over Bayern Munich in the competitions final.

Now it appears that new manager Andre Villas-Boas will have a tough fight on his hands to keep a hold of the England international after reports linked Premier League champions Manchester City and their rivals Manchester United with Walker. It's believed that the Manchester clubs are willing to offer Spurs around £15 million, but it's rumoured that Walker won't be allowed to leave White Hart Lane for anything less than £20 million.

The defender who signed a new contract back in May has five years remaining on his contract at White Hart Lane.

Villas-Boas the right choice for Spurs says Adebayor

http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/Spurs/Ade.png

http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/48.png http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/ShareButton.jpg http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/FacebookButton.jpg http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/TwitterButton.jpg

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has received the backing of striker Emmanuel Adebayor, the Togolese international stating that the Portuguese manager was the right choice for the North London club.

Emmanuel Adebayor may have played for Arsenal just a few seasons ago but that hasn't stopped the player signing for Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis after he impressed whilst on loan last season from Premier League champions Manchester City. Adebayor scored an impressive 17 times in the Premier League last season and that convinced Spurs to pay £5 million to secure his services.

The striker was once unwelcome at White Hart Lane amongst Spurs supporters, Adebayor scoring 46 times in 104 league appearances under Arsene Wenger whilst at Arsenal.

Despite his past the 28 year old striker had no hesitation in signing a four year contract that will keep him at White Hart Lane until the summer of 2016 and Adebayor believes new manager Andre Villas-Boas was the right choice to replace Harry Redknapp who was sacked by chairman Daniel Levy earlier in the summer.

"I wanted to join Spurs as soon as I came to the club, I loved it and I enjoyed my football here, the supporters are fantastic. It's true that a lot of negotiations took place, but not because of me, but because Manchester City wanted a fee. Thankfully in the end a deal was agreed and I'm proud to be a Spurs player," said Adebayor.

When asked about Andre Villas-Boas the Togolese striker was adamant the new manager can keep Spurs moving forward despite enduring a disastrous spell as Chelsea manager last season.

"Andre will keep the club moving forward, I believe nothing else is possible, he's a very good manager. Despite what happened at Chelsea we know he is a good manager who has already achieved things in the game that some managers never come close to doing. He's definitely the right choice for the club, the players and staff at the club know that, we accept that," added the 28 year old.

"I'm excited to be at the club with players like Bale and Lennon in the team, it's exciting and I can't wait for the season to begin. I want to help Spurs qualify for the Champions League," stated Adebayor.

Sheringham: Spurs could win Premier League

http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/Spurs/Teddy.png

http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/48.png http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/ShareButton.jpg http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/FacebookButton.jpg http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/TwitterButton.jpg

Tottenham Hotspur could surprise everybody this season and win the Premier League for the first time since 1961 according to former striker and fans hero Teddy Sheringham.

Teddy Sheringham is well placed to talk about winning the Premier League, after all the striker who made 898 senior appearances in his professional career scoring 354 times won three when he was at Manchester United. The former England international was also a famous part of the Red Devils treble winning side, the striker netting an equalizer and setting up the winner against Bayern Munich in 1999.

Surprisingly when Sheringham decided to talk about the possible winner of next seasons Premier League title he didn't mention Manchester United or current champions Manchester City, instead the 46 year old boldly declared that former club Spurs could mount a serious challenge for their first Premier League title since 1961.

"If there is a dark horse to win the Premier League next season it's got to be Tottenham," said Sheringham.

"They've got a really good squad, one of the best on paper and there is a good mix of experience and youth in the squad. If the likes of Gareth Bale, Emmanuel Adebayor, Aaron Lennon, Scott Parker and Jermain Defoe can have a good season then anything is possible. They need to have a little bit of luck during the season and having key players stay injury free is key, but don't be surprised if Spurs do it," added the former Spurs striker.

Sheringham made 236 league appearances for Spurs scoring 98 times.

He also represented England on 51 occasions scoring 11 times and played at the European Championships in England in 1996 and played at both the 1998 and 2002 World Cups. His final appearance for the Three Lions came as a substitute as Brazil emerged victorious from their quarter final clash in Japan at the 2002 World Cup, a stunning free kick from Ronaldinho securing a 2-1 victory for the eventual winners of the 2002 World Cup.

Scott Parker will miss opening day Norwich clash

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that midfielder Scott Parker will miss the clubs entire pre season and won't be fit to face Norwich City at Carrow Road on the opening day of the new Premier League season as he struggles with an achilles injury that requires minor surgery.

Parker who started in all of England's fixtures at Euro 2012 will miss Spurs entire pre season schedule which includes a tour of America after the club decided that it was best for the hardworking midfielder to undergo minor surgery on his achilles tendon that caused him to miss the clubs final few matches of last season.

The 31 year old is expected to return to training just before Spurs face Norwich City on the opening day of the Premier League season at Carrow Road. However the midfielder probably won't feature until after the international break in September according to Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, the Portuguese boss opting to take a cautious approach in regards to Parker's return to first team action.

"Scott will have a small operation in the next few days, his achilles has been a problem so we want to get that sorted out as soon as we can, that's the priority. So unfortunately he won't feature during our pre season games, but we must make sure we do the right thing for Scott and for the club," said Villas-Boas.

"He won't be fit for the game against Norwich, we must be careful, the season is long, we don't need to rush in this moment and we won't need to because we have many options in midfield. It looks like Scott might not play again until mid September, after the international break, but we'll see how he recovers," added the Spurs boss.

Parker was a key player for the North London club last season making 29 league appearances in his first season at White Hart Lane following a £5 million move from the then relegated West Ham United. The Hammers regained their top flight status at the first attempt under Sam Allardyce and will visit White Hart Lane on Saturday 25 August and sources close to Parker say the midfielder hopes to lineup against his old side.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has warned clubs chasing full back Kyle Walker that the player isn't for sale after rejecting a £25 million bid from Manchester City for the 22 year old.

Kyle Walker is not for sale and that's that, well according to Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The Spurs boss today rejected a £25 million bid from Manchester City for the 22 year old and was adamant that Walker wouldn't be leaving White Hart Lane this summer, regardless of the transfer fee offered. A statement issued on the clubs official website quoted the new Spurs boss stating that club was no longer in a position were it needed to sell it's best players and that Walker would remain at the North London club.

"I can confirm we received a transfer offer for Kyle Walker today from Manchester City and I can also confirm that we rejected what was a substantial offer from Manchester City in relation to Kyle Walker," said Villas-Boas.

"The club don't need to sell our best players, we don't want to sell our best players and we continue looking to strengthen our squad. Kyle will not be sold this summer, regardless of the fee involved, he's an important member of this squad and we see him playing at the club beyond his current contract," added the Spurs boss.

Walker signed a new five year deal back in May which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2017.

AVB to bolster strike force with Graham signature

Swansea City striker Danny Graham could be rewarded for his fine form last season with a move to Tottenham Hotspurs after reports linked Andre Villas-Boas with a £7 million bid for the 26 year old.

If Graham does leave the Welsh club it will be the second consecutive summer that he has changed clubs after he joined Swansea City last summer, leaving Watford for a reported £4 million fee. Impressive performances by the striker has seen his stock rise and he scored 12 times last season in 36 league appearances as the Swans finished 11th in their debut Premier League campaign under Brendan Rodgers.

With a reported transfer budget of £30 million remaining following the summer arrivals of Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Clint Dempsey, Mousa Dembele, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Emmanuel Adebayor it's believed the Spurs boss will look to bolster his strike force with the signing of Graham considering Adebayor and Jermain Defoe are the only senior strikers amongst the first team squad at White Hart Lane.

Reports suggest Spurs will submit a £7 million bid in their attempt to lure Graham away from the Welsh club.

Gareth Bale on La Liga giants most wanted list

http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/Spurs/BarcelonaBale.png

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas could be facing a serious fight to keep star Gareth Bale at White Hart Lane after reports surfaced in Spain linking the winger with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Reports have surfaced in various newspapers in Spain linking Spurs star Gareth Bale with a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid, whichever club can match the £40 million valuation apparently set by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, although Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas will be eager to keep the Welsh international at White Hart Lane considering the 23 year olds undeniable talent and importance to the club.

Bale joined from Southampton back in 2007 and he has become a fan favourite at White Hart Lane in his five years at the club. After some early injury problems the winger has become an integral part of Spurs first team squad and he chipped in with nine goals last season as Spurs finished in fourth spot, narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification after Chelsea won the competition.

The 23 year old is reportedly paid £90,000 a week at White Hart Lane and could expect to almost double his wage should he move to either of the La Liga giants. The winger who has been capped 33 times by Wales has a contract at White Hart Lane that runs until 2016 and Bale has repeatedly stressed that he's happy at Spurs.

Another possible destination for the 23 year old should he leave the Premier League is Paris, although Chelsea and Manchester United have in the past been linked with big money moves for the Spurs winger.

Paris Saint Germain have plenty to spend however after wealthy Qatari owners took over and they've already spent a whooping £54 million in bringing in AC Milan duo Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer as manager Carlo Ancelotti attempts to build a squad capable of matching the best in Europe.

When contacted by BBC Sport a press officer at Spurs refused to comment on the speculation linking the Welsh international with a move away from White Hart Lane. Spurs begin their pre season campaign tomorrow when they travel to Brisbane Road to face Leyton Orient and it's expected that Bale will be included.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas labelled his sides 2-0 pre season friendly win over Leyton Orient this afternoon at Brisbane Road as the perfect start to his reign at the North London club.

Second half goals from striker Jermain Defoe and winger Gareth Bale secured a well deserved 2-0 win for Spurs at Brisbane Road today, the Premier League side controlling the contest throughout against their League One opponents Leyton Orient, Andre Villas-Boas taking charge of his first game as Spurs manager.

The visitors looked sharp throughout the contest and could have scored more goals had Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones not turned in a splendid performance during his 64 minutes on the pitch at Brisbane Road.

After the victory at Brisbane Road new Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas labelled the start perfect.

"Today we played well and we won, maybe we should have scored more goals, but their goalkeeper had a very good game and you can't do much about that when it happens. Today was a good start, the perfect start for me personally, now we'll work hard and hopefully win our games in America," said the Spurs manager.

When pressed on reports that Spurs are in negotiations with Welsh club Swansea City for striker Danny Graham the Portuguese boss gave little away, the Spurs boss refusing to directly speak about another clubs player.

"I won't talk about another clubs player, I don't do that type of thing. All I can say is we're looking at many players at the moment, assessing the many qualities of our squad and seeing what we can improve on. Maybe we need another left back and another striker, we must look into our options," said Villas-Boas.

Unfortunately my iMac required a new hard-drive, apparently mine was a part of some batch that had faulty hard-drives, so Apple replaced it free of charge. Me being an idiot I totally forgot about my FM saves, music and all that type of stuff, didn't back it up, lost it all, only got my iMac back today, so yeah started a new game with Spurs, planning on sticking with this.

Swansea City have accepted what is believed to be a £7 million bid from Tottenham Hotspur for 26 year old striker Danny Graham who scored 12 goals in 36 Premier League appearances last season.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas may have remained tight lipped yesterday in regards to speculation linking the club with a £7 million bid for Swansea City striker Danny Graham, but less then 24 hours later those reports have been proven accurate after the Welsh club released a statement stating they'd granted the North London club permission to speak with the 26 year old striker and his agent.

The North London club have strengthened heavily this summer bringing in Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Clint Dempsey, Mousa Dembele, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Emmanuel Adebayor after narrowly missing out on Champions League football as Chelsea won the competition, the Blues subsequently qualifying ahead of Spurs who occupied what is traditionally the final Champions League qualifying spot available to Premier League sides.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson says he will do everything he can to help new manager Andre Villas-Boas secure the signature of former Swansea City team-mate Danny Graham after the Welsh side accepted a £7 million bid from the North London club for the 26 year old striker.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas won't be alone in trying to secure the signature of 26 year old Swansea City striker Danny Graham. The Portuguese manager has been handed a trump card after summer signing Gylfi Sigurdsson publicly declared he was willing to do his bit to persuade the striker to swap the Liberty Stadium for White Hart Lane after the Welsh side accepted a £7 million bid from the North London club.

It was widely anticipated by many involved in football that new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas would try to add at least one more striker to his squad ahead of the clubs pre season tour of America, Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor the only senior strikers in the first team squad at White Hart Lane.

Sigurdsson, 22, joined Spurs during the summer from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for £8 million. The Icelandic international who has represented his country on six occasions was a team-mate of Graham's last season at the Liberty Stadium whilst on loan at the Welsh club. Some fine performances from the midfielder saw him linked to a permanent switch to the Welsh club and even Liverpool when former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers took over at Anfield, although Spurs eventually secured a deal for the 22 year olds services.

Now the Icelandic international is prepared to do what he can to convince Graham to join the North London club.

"I want Danny Graham to join the club, it would be fantastic, he's a really good player and I know that from playing with him last season at Swansea City," said Sigurdsson.

"If there is anything I can do I'll do it to help the boss get the deal done," added the 22 year old.

Real Madrid sign out of favour Gomes

http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/48.png http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/ShareButton.jpg http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/FacebookButton.jpg http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/TwitterButton.jpg

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has signed out of favour Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Gomes as backup on a two year deal for an undisclosed amount believed to be just £1 million.

The 31 year old was replaced as the number one goalkeeper at White Hart Lane last season by Brad Friedel and following the summer arrival of French international Hugo Lloris from Olympique Lyonnais it was obvious that the Brazilian international was out of favour at the North London club.

Gomes didn't make a single appearance in the Premier League last season for Spurs under Harry Redknapp.

The Brazilian joined Spurs back in 2008 for more than £6 million when he moved from Dutch side PSV.

http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii557/khronaldo89/Spurs/GomesGoodampBad.png
Inconsistent Gomes: The good and the bad

For the next three seasons the 31 year old was the undisputed first choice shot stopper at White Hart Lane, the goalkeeper well known for his ability to make incredible saves, but unfortunately he was also prone to making costly and at times jaw dropping errors that have contributed to his downfall at the North London club.

Gomes made 95 Premier League appearances in his three seasons at White Hart Lane and he is expected to provide backup to Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas who has been the clubs first choice goalkeeper since 1999.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed his happiness after the club signed 26 year old striker Danny Graham from Swansea City for a fee believed to be around £7 million.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has spoken about his happiness following the signing of 26 year old Swansea City striker Danny Graham, the North London club completing a deal worth a reported £7 million for the striker.

"For me this signing was important, we needed another striker and Danny is a good player who can offer a lot to the team. He works hard and he can score important goals, this signing makes me very happy," said Villas-Boas.

"We might sign one, maybe two more players, it depends if we can find the right players that we feel will improve the squad, but for now I'm very happy with this signing and the squad," added the Portuguese boss.

The striker could make his first appearance for Spurs when they take on the Portland Timbers tomorrow in the first game of their three game tour of America. Spurs will face Graham's former club at the Liberty Stadium on the 3 November and will welcome the Welsh club to White Hart Lane on 16 March next year.

Danny Graham ready for Spurs challenge

The North London club have strengthened heavily this summer bringing in Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Clint Dempsey, Mousa Dembele, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Emmanuel Adebayor after narrowly missing out on Champions League football as Chelsea won the competition, the Blues subsequently qualifying ahead of Spurs who occupied what is traditionally the final Champions League qualifying spot available to Premier League sides.

Graham scored 12 times last season in 36 league appearances as the Welsh club finished 11th in their debut Premier League campaign under Brendan Rodgers. The striker joined Swansea last season from Watford in a deal worth £4 million, the striker penning a five year deal at the Liberty Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur made it two wins from two pre season games this evening as they comfortably beat the Portland Timbers 2-1 in front of a healthy crowd of over 18,000 at the JED-WEN Field.

Goals from Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale were again the heroes for Spurs as the pair both scored for the second successive pre season game as the North London side began their American tour with a 2-1 victory over MLS side the Portland Timbers in front of a healthy crowd of over 18,000 at the JED-WEN Field.

Spurs dominated throughout the contest against their American opponents and could have scored more than the two they did. For a pre season clash this game was particularly fiery and Spurs midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson was booked after just two minutes for a cynical foul.

Just seven minutes later the visitors took the lead, a fantastic pass from Moussa Dembele opened up the hosts defence and Defoe took full advantage as he latched onto the pass before finishing with ease, the striker sliding his effort beyond Timbers captain Donovan Ricketts.

The hosts were soon level however, Joey Chidester finding himself with time and space after a deflected effort from Neal Crace fell nicely to him, Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris given no chance as the 24 year old striker calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner to restore parity.

Despite things being all square at half time it was only because of wayward finishing that the North London club weren't out of sight, Portuguese manager Andre Villas-Boas likely to have encouraged his side to continue playing the way they had in the first half whilst stressing the need to take their chances when they came.

In the end the Spurs boss made the decision to bring on Gareth Bale and the winger was heavily involved in proceedings, he was booked and scored the winner with 20 minutes remaining, the Welsh international heading home a floated cross from fellow substitute Aaron Lennon at the back post.

There was also a uncompetitive debut for new Spurs signing Danny Graham who joined the club from Welsh side Swansea City in a deal worth a reported £7 million. Spurs will now prepare for their next pre season game in a weeks time against Columbus Crew at the Columbus Crew Stadium. The North London club will wrap up their pre season preparations and their tour of America with a clash against the San Jose Earthquakes on the 4 August a week before they face Norwich City at Carrow Road on the opening day of the new Premier League season.

Dawson: We deserve Champions League football

Tottenham Hotspur captain Michael Dawson has slammed UEFA, the 28 year old upset that the North London club won't be playing Champions League football this season with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United despite finishing in the top four in the Premier League last season.

Despite finishing in the top four in the Premier League last season Spurs fans will only have Europa League football to look forward to during the week. Instead of taking on the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the North London club will find themselves taking part in the Europa League.

Traditionally the top four teams in the Premier League qualify for the Champions League, the top three qualifying automatically for the group stages whilst the fourth place side enter at the best placed playoff stage. Spurs finished in fourth, a single point behind bitter rivals Arsenal and missed out on Champions League qualification after Chelsea beat Bayern Munich in the final, the Blues subsequently taking the final Champions League spot.

Spurs captain Michael Dawson today reacted with a venomous spray directed towards UEFA when asked how he felt about missing out on the prestigious European competition.

"Every player strives to play at the top level, some never get the chance, but we deserve that. We finished in the top four last year, we did what we had to and still we won't be getting what we deserve," said Dawson.

"The holders in my opinion don't deserve to qualify for the competition, they don't for the World Cup so I can't understand why UEFA are doing that with the Champions League, does anybody?" added the Spurs skipper.

"It's a disgrace that we won't be given the chance to play in the best cup competition Europe has to offer, we deserve to, we earned that right through our Premier League performances. Obviously the governing bodies have another idea, which I think is wrong, if it's good enough for the World Cup then why is the Champions League different, it makes no sense to me and the players, the fans are the ones who get punished."

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed terms with 25 year old midfielder Tom Huddlestone on a new three year contract that will keep him at White Hart Lane until the summer of 2016.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has handed midfielder Tom Huddlestone a new three year deal, the 25 year old signing a new deal that will keep him at White Hart Lane until the summer of 2016.

Huddlestone made his professional breakthrough at Derby County in 2003 and after making 88 appearances for the Rams he made the move to Spurs in a deal worth £1.5 million back in 2005. The midfielder has made 124 Premier League appearances for the North London club in his seven years at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has signed a two year contract extension that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2015, the left backs previous contract was due to expire in less then 12 months time and Andre Villas-Boas moved quickly to secure the immediate future of the defender.

Spurs defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has committed to the North London club for an additional two years after he penned a contract extension today. The 28 year old joined Spurs back in 2006 from French side RC Lens in a deal worth £3.5 million and he made his debut on the opening day of the Premier League season against Bolton.

Ekotto has become a key player for Spurs in recent seasons, although he seemed destined to leave English football after missing the entire 2007-2008 Premier League season due to a serious knee injury.

The left back has made 140 Premier League appearances for the North London club scoring three times.

He has been capped 15 times by Cameroon and was a part of their squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa playing every minute of his countries three games that all ended in defeat.
