Prologue: From Riches to Rags

The Sidua family is a prestigious lineage, yet one that has fallen on hard times. The story of the Siduas begins during the early medieval era with the famous, red-haired, self-named Ben Sidua. Known by historians for his influence in Europe through his leadership of a German mercenary band based in the city-state of Oldenburg, his effectiveness in battle came to a climax during a siege of the city of Hannover, when Ben's employer refused to meet his requested pay.

Much to the dismay of both the lord of Hannover and the prince of Lüneburg, Ben decided that the best course of action was to take the city and defeat the army of Lüneburg. As his mercenary band outnumbered both the garrison of Hannover and the besieging soldiers of Lüneburg at the time, Ben found this somewhat radical solution to his paycheck woes far easier than it should have been. Under Ben's rule, Hannover became the center of a powerful principality within the Holy Roman Empire, which stretched its borders across many of the neighboring cities, founding new industries and tilling new soil for agriculture.

History was kind to his descendants. Ben Sidua II, the grandson of Ben, won Hannover the status of electorate in the Holy Roman Empire through his pedigree as a patron of the arts. The status of aristocracy was something the Siduas held on to until the dissolution of the German Empire. Despite this loss, the oddly-named former Herzog of Hannover Jim Sidua decided to leave the city he once ruled and stake his claim in America. Jim found that, in the Roaring 20's, the age of American Colonialism was over in all but a few remote territories, and chose to try and rebuild his family's wealthy heritage through the music industry. With moderate success through the 20's and early 30's, Jim decided to take his chance on a spunky kid with eyes of blue. Frank Sinatra became Jim's star musician, that is until those shmucks called The 3 Flashes signed him on for his car. This short spell, however, offered Jim just enough money for his son to build a good life in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Jim's son, Jack, decided that gambling was his passion, and blew almost all of Jim's money immediately upon inheritance. In 1996, Jack's hedonistic and bottom-of-the-barrel lifestyle lead to the... Let's say "unplanned" impregnation of his most closely-kept lover. On the 16th of July, 1997, Finn Sidua was born.

He was never that photogenic.

His life was rather non-descript in the United States. Growing up in Pawtucket, Finn attended Charles E Shea High School. As a loyal and proud Raider, he played soccer for the school's B team. Through he was more often than not merely in the reserves or on the bench, Finn grew a deep passion for the game, though not one he could express by playing on the pitch. His passion brought him to put a lot of research into the MLS, as well as the Bundesliga and the English Leagues. Though his studies, Finn became a fan and supporter of Leeds United and dreamed of one day being a head coach. He believed that he had a great talent for such a position, after all, how hard could it be?

Assigned less than 10 arbitrary skill points by the universe in nearly every coaching skill (working with youngsters stands at an impressive 11), Finn might be overselling himself.

Going to an arts college, he only became more and more interested in such a career, bored to death with the monotony of institutionalized art. And so, in the summer of 2018, Finn Sidua put out his first job application to a club. FC Nürnberg has a vacancy, and Finn is certain that they'll just be ecstatic at a chance to hire him!

Oh.

... This might be harder than he thought.
