Thank mate! Yeah I started one (Fergie Mk. II) but screwed it up after my first season so decided it was best to start from scratch.

Not thought that far ahead. I'm potentially looking at maybe 10-14 years in the future (in-game) before I'm at the PL but maybe a Newcastle or a Blackburn Rovers will be floating about. Suppose I'll just have to wait and see what teams are in a state by that point!

Thanks for reading

http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/images/uploads/alex-ferguson-trophy.png

OK so I couldn't resist (another) a pop at this. The chance to try and win the Europa League as a non-Old Firm club and then revive a 'Sleeping Giant' in the Premier League is something I think I can really get into.

I did start a career but, if you were following, you will have seen that I made the slightly arrogant mistake of resigning from my first club (without saving first) expecting to be offered another job which never happened. So I figured (with the advice of some of my readers) it was best to start afresh.

So, emulating arguably the most feared and respected manager in footballing history is the way to go. During this career I will be following 'The Fergie way' which means:

- Starting at a Low-reputation Scottish Division One side.
- After one season, leaving them for a lower-placed but higher-reputation Division One side and guiding them to the SPL (staying for 4 seasons).
- Then moving on to a non-Old Firm SPL team and building them up until I win the Europa League.
- Finally when that has been accomplished I will move to a 'Fallen Giant' in the EPL and turning them into one of (if not THE) best sides in World football.

During my career, I will also follow these 'Fergie' style rules:

- Start with 'Professional Footballer' as my past-experience.
- I may or may not become manager of the Scotland team briefly, if the opportunity arises.
- NO player is bigger than the club. If a player wants to go, he will be sold.
- I will attempt mind-games a lot.
- No-holds-barred criticizing of officials for decisions that cost my team points.
- Build up and make best use of Youth Systems at both long-term clubs (SPL and EPL clubs).

Well, here goes...

This time round I opted for Morton. Their reputation is'nt massively bigger than that of Airdrie's but they are still expected to struggle in the league with a predicted finish in the bottom half of the table.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BsQkcNiSmVCLlkNX7iMml08ibNUxNIrXZVHB4m72.png

I've told the board that I expect to finish in the top half of the table this season. After evaluating the squad, it seems that there is almost a good enough squad in place to achieve this.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/E71X92vyuEoogBvtm3rVIcfmp09fNuuY043Q9d9L.png

However there is a few areas that I feel could be strengthened further. Particularly in central defense, on the wings and up-front.

Looks like I'm in for a busy pre-season.

I had a look at Cowdenbeath and Dumbarton but Morton seemed like the better option.

I'll need to make sure I don't go to Dundee next! Ha.

Player & Staff Transfers

Players:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/855DH8hHglKNdIFRpwO8mqRsJYfPvMnlv8NQC1ay.png

Brought in a few more players than I'd anticipated at first. I reckoned that we'd have only seen five come in with three going the other way. Was quite glad to be rid of Mark McLaughlin and Peter Weatherson though as they are getting on and have no pace so they wouldn't contribute well to the fluidity of my 4-4-2. Managed to bring in a few little gems who will benefit the squad from the off:

Chris Hegarty
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/us2TRv1MtgLdDvNtPY67pISIzWmOJQz2KSIp0IUl.png

Produce of Rangers, stepping up two divisions to join us on-loan for the season with Rangers footing the bill. Ideal scenario. Hegarty is a decent player and I had him in a previous Rangers save and he develops into a solid centre-back. He'll add a bt of pace in there to hopefully cancel out fast opposition strikers.

Maceo Rigters
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AXa72NM6ZFm6n4vC5D7Y7Sw8eSewoQosoy9JHpcp.png

Cracking signing for this level. Bags of skill & experience and should tear it up this season. Signed him primarily as a right-winger but he can easily play up-front as well so he adds a little extra dimension of versatility.

Rui Marques
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/XjcFHKPLLOr1peDX8aPAvNmhhIdVFLS4ONXqnygZ.png

Another centre-half with decent pace brought in to shore-up the back line. Marques is a decent player for his age and still adds value to the squad. Has loads of experience from playing at Leeds and Stuttgart earlier in his career.

Samuel Morrow
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/J4a6BQNdQKBreK20o32EMGhhse38Feq2wyrzPUpk.png

On-loan from Ross County with them covering his wages was a steal for this lad. Is good enough to make an impact in Division One and has good finishing ability but not great composure so we will just need to make sure we create him enough chances. He's played in Scotland, England, Ireland and Denmark in his career so it looks like he will add some experience to the squad.

Steven Robb
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Pg7amaStcjIsrfB5BLR1ZGiTX79IQM0us5uNMmwx.png

Making his return to Scottish football after two seasons spent playing football in Thailand, Steven is still a bit of a player and a real asset at this level. Strong mental attributes for as well as still possessing a decent level of skill. Will definitely do a job for us this season.

I also brought in a few younger boys just as cover incase we have any injury crisis or fixture conjestion throughout the season:

Ryan Scully
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cwV0enitwfaomlEX10ojPYXoCZCGdZ58fxCkggAF.png

Young Scottish keeper is a graduate from the Partick Thistle youth set-up and has not too bad attributes for his young age. He'll do OK when called upon to cover for number one Derek Gaston.

George Saunders
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Jxs0niIpGXqtPtAAdVLSA3MSfBeC4WuKoRrbcu1C.png

The young Englishman surprisingly originated from the Espanyol developmental squad and found himself without a club at the start of the season. He should do OK as cover for the boys in midfield.

Staff:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bzSDIn48P04ay6eGDx8jbcsYiK9oQWThyBaMbq8Q.png

Had to overhaul the backroom staff as they were are really poor. Board not giving me much leeway when it comes to hiring coaches so I'm restricted to three at the minute. Managed to bring in some decent staff and it's only to do me a season so we will manage.

Friendlies

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0IK5sVMl8LdpZCKA06R1HcwxuFJqeHliKnsVrwVw.png

Good set of friendlies here. We managed to give Newcastle a right good game which was pleasing to see. It was 1-1 for a time so I thought we may have nicked a winner or held-on for a draw but we had to settle for defeat. Still, pleasing to see us play so well against much stronger opposition.

Played well again against Ayr in our second friendly, we were only 2-1 up at half-time but the team talk managed to gee the players up and get them firing.

Dunno' what to say about the Rangers game. We HAMMERED them. Didn't give them a sniff. I was absolutely made up at the way the team performed!

Was SLIGHTLY disappointed that we didn't manage to win the game by more than a goal against Auchinleck. Had the one down as a cricket-score and a good boost to the guys morale before the first competitive game of the season. Still, a win is a win I suppose and it kept our momentum going.

All-in-all I think we have a pretty solid side for the start of the season. Not sure if I'll add to it again but if I do, it will need to be a player who can come in and improve the first team.

I'll try and get the first batch of competitive games up tonight also.

Player Transfers

Players:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/eENmK9DDuIesRhYx9OrCjrKDKT7cwNm4rsG6otlL.png

Added another few faces to the squad. Wasn't particularly looking to strengthen but we had a load of injuries to the midfield early on and I felt that I needed another option between the sticks other than Ryan Scully.

Robbie Crawford
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/eGX5oKGSO1stavYIHhBgemf6yifolphyEisrRkt7.png

Another loanee in from Rangers. Had a bit of an early injury crisis and he was available on loan for no cost so I brought him in. Will add a solid back-up option throughout the season

Mickael Dogbé
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/u8EzABlP0afZWU7YB7JuxF9hCfTGSe8OLYykHAy8.png

Mickael came up on a free for decent wages and, despite his age, he still has some pace on him. Will add extra cover for the right-wing position behind Maceo Rigters and Danny Graham. He can also play up-front should I need him to.

Rob Burch
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WCJ6r1dnTcqZTp5AVXyNk4UxHlpwqjy2H9FsUNxL.png

Another freebie and added cover in goal. Ryan Scully is pretty good but I think he's still a wee bit young for prolonged games in the first-team should Derek Gaston get injured.

Ran over August and into September so figured I'd just combine both months together. It's been a bit of a hit-and-miss start to the season. Some good wins against Livingston, Falkirk and Raith Rovers.

Disappointed to lose against Partick Thistle especially when we were denied a penalty. Also losing to Livingston on penalties in the Challenge Cup was annoying as we took the lead in Extra Time but still managed to concede an equalizer afterwards. Was disappointed at the draws against Airdrie and Dunfermline as we had been down as odds-on winners of both matches. The team haven't fully gelled with our tactics yet so I think the consistency will come with that.

My management seems to be getting some excellent performances from Martin Hardie, Samuel Morrow and Colin McMenamin over the past 2 months. If it hadn't been for these 3 guys then we would really be struggling in the league.

League Table

Well, 8 matches into the season and we are sitting 3rd. Pretty happy with that. Still keeping my eye out for any more freebies that may improve the squad as well as I have a little bit of wages left to use up.

Slated the ref for the penalty decision. It really altered the course of the game. Had we been given it we would have been in with a chance of a point at least.

Not a shabby start. Off on annual leave from work this week so I'm gonna' try and power through this season over the next couple of days and move onto my next club.

Poor start to the month when we lost to Cowdenbeath but when you look at the league table you will understand why. They are tearing it up this season! It doesn't help that we had 2 men sent off in the second half which killed our chances of gaining a point from the match!

Back to form with wins over Partick Thistle and Livingston though. Really see the side gelling a wee bit and the performances are coming. Peter MacDonald certainly seized his chance at first-team footbal when he was drafted in against Thistle and bagged himself a brace. Might just have to give him more game time after that.

11 matches and still 3rd. Not too bad at all. I'd be happy with a top 5 position this season by far. I need to watch that our form doesn't get too good and we win the league! Ha. Cowdenbeath look like they are having a stormer of a season though so it will take some doing to topple them I think.

Good month. Started off really well with a morale-boosting 7-0 win against Tynecastle in the 3rd Round of the Scottish Cup. We got Partick Thistle at home in the next round and I feel that is a winnable tie.

Slightly disappointed to draw at home to Dunfermline, especially when we created enough chances to win 2 matches! A point is better than nothing I suppose so it wasn't too bad.

Back on the winning trail with a 4-1 win away at Airdrie United. More brilliant form from Samuel Morrow has had news outlets tipping him for a call-up to the N.I squad and I support that as he's been brilliant for us.

The Falkirk draw was one that I wasn't too disappointed with. We were 3-0 down at half-time and were in real danger of singing without a trace. But three substitutes and bollocking for the side saw us claw back 3 goals in the second half and come out with a point.

Nice way to round off the month with a comfortable home win against Hamilton. This month has saw us stretch our unbeaten run in the league to 6 games which is awesome. If nothing else I have turned us into a difficult side to beat!

Nearing the half-way point of the season and we are still in the top 4. Not far from top spot and it's still pretty tight below us as well. January transfer window is coming up and I'm not sure that we'll be in a position to bring anyone else in unless we get rid of a few players.

Started off the month REALLY well. Progressing onto the 5th round of the Scottish Cup with a 1-0 win over Partick Thistle. We got drawn away to Rangers in the next round so that's gonna' be a tough one to navigate.

Followed that on with a solid 4-0 win at home to Raith Rovers with help of a rare hat-trick from Michael Tidser.

Disappointed with the away loss to Dumbarton cause we led 1-0 at half-time only to fold in the second half and concede two goals.

Bounced back well with the 4-1 home win against top-of-the-table Cowdenbeath. Exacting a little revenge from an earlier loss in the season. Rare appearance for Peter MacDonald and he delivered again thanks to injury to our form striker Samuel Morrow.

Another away loss but this time at Firhill when we went down 3-2 to Scottish Cup victims Partick Thistle. Think we did well to only lose by a single goal as Martin Hardie saw red in the second half for violent conduct. So he was slapped with a 2-week fine.

Rounded off the month strongly though with a win at home against managerless Livingston. Was hoping they would have held onto him until the end of the season and I could have applied for the job but not much can be done now. Was good again to see Peter MacDonald get in among the goals, softening the blow of losing Morrow.

Ins:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/T62lnxZ36AFDOiy74ovzliq1xbvFZtGvgNg0J0Z8.png

OK so bolstering the defense was my main aim in January. Mainly down to the fact that young Jamie Naismith's loan deal from St. Mirren expired and they were not up for giving him back to me for the rest of the season. Also my Ass Man notified me that veteran centre-back Rui Marquez was past his peak. So I moved him on and replaced him.

Aimé Lavie

I was notified by an agent of this guys avalability and after a quick scout report card i was informed that he would do a job for us so I brought him in. At 28 he still has a few years left in him and he brings with him experience of playing football in Israel, Japan and France.

Cameron MacDonald
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xtzMZy6D56uFNLmZeFAwAhU7sltsBpzWuvZn2Vpm.png

Couldn't believe my luck when he was available for nothing mid-way through the season after his contract expired. As some of you may remember I have previous experience with him from my Airdrie United days in my previous save so I know he's up to the task.

Kal Naismith
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/eVaLeSA5vWh1vPPeQr0jJc2CoZtv54zgFfNLkExk.png

Our third addition from Rangers here. Brought him in as he is versatile enough to play on both wings so he can cover the departures of Steven Robb and Mickael Dogbe.

Outs:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Q3eZjrHbAw7YZGO0gIySMOQI9TvHFU4VwZSZPVdB.png

Robb, Marques and Dogbe were getting on a bit and I was being informed that they were past their peak. Normally that wouldn't mean I'd instantly release a player but when I was giving them a chance in the first team they weren't really displaying form that would have suggested that they were still good value to the squad. So I thought it was best to let them go and free up the wages.

Young Ryan Scully was progressing at a decent rate on training alone but I felt it was better to farm him out on loan and have some other side pay his wages and help aid his development with some first-team football exposure.

A decent month I'd say. Started with a 1-1 draw at Dunfermline which took a late Kevin Rutkiewicz goal to secure. But in fairness it was the least we deserved as we were denied TWO penalties at 1-0 which lead to me slating the ref and being reprimanded by the FA.

Solid home wins against Airdrie and Falkirk followed with a rare appearance and goal from Jordan Halsman securing the win against The Diamonds and David O'Brien and Michael Tidser securing us another 3 points against The Bairns.

Next up was a scandalous FM-style loss at home to Raith. And by that I mean we had 6 shots, none on target. They had 2 shots, one on target and scored it. How annoying.

It took a great free-kick from the in-form Michael Tidser to even the score against Hamilton after we spent most of the game a goal down.

First game of the month saw us have the opportunity to go into the Quarter Finals of the Scottish Cup. Was pleased that we managed to take Rangers to a home replay of the tie where I thought the home advantage would have gone in our favour. But, in typical FM-style we took the lead in extra time only to concede an immediate equaliser. Then got put out on penalties.

Next up was a top-of-the table clash between us and Cowdenbeath. This was a real chance for us to go a long way to catching them at the top but an Archie Campbell equaliser wasn't enough as we condeded again and et them increase the gap between us.

Our next match was against bottom side Dumbarton. A game that I viewed as maybe an easy win and us to bring our season back on track. We almost got beat. We were a goal down at half-time and it took a roasting to get the guys to get themselves back into it. Got away with that one.

Rounded off the month with a somewhat disappointing draw at home to Partick Thistle. It was disappointing because we lead 2-1 at half-time so I was hoping we could hold off and take the 3 points but complacency set in again and we had to settle for 1.

Colin McMenamin and Archie Campbell have been doing really well for us as of late bagging 3 goals each last month. Which comes at a convenient time as I consider renewing the contract of the 33-year old McMenamin. I'm just not sure he has another year at this level in him.

It's approaching "Sqeaky Bum Time" as the great man himself would say. We are 4 points from top spot and level on points with Thistle below us. After that you have Falkirk a point behind and Dunfermline 3 points behind them. So it's all relatively close with 8 games remaining. We just need to sort our form out a little and hope that we don't lose too many points and a top-half place will be ours to lose.

Another dodgy decision goes against us. Another refereeing complaint. Another reprimand from the FA. Maybe of they just hired competent officials then we wouldn't have this problem!

The home cup replay against Rangers did wonders for our monthly turnover. Which was exactly what we needed. That's two months in a row we have made a profit so I'm happy with that. Although until we finish the season I don't see any other cash windfalls coming our way.

Found ourselves with a two-week break in-between fixtures so I figured I'd arrange a nice, easy home friendly to rack up a nice morale boosting score. Wrong. Petershill took the lead! I was less than amused. A brace from Robbie Crawford saved the day but the performance was not befitting what I expect from the team.

We dropped more points at home to Dunfermine in the next game. We almost lost out unbeaten streak was it not from a late equalizer from Danny Graham.

Another draw in our next match against Livingston. We had loads of chances but the strikers seem to have forgotten how to score lately. Couldn't be coming at a worse point in the season.

Another break between fixtures so I organised another friendly this time against Gretna 2008. We bossed he match this time round, created loads of chances but failed to convert most of them. Was good to see Samuel Morrow back from injury and I was glad to be able to give him 90 minutes and to see him bag himself a goal.

Finished off the month back on the title trail with a 2-0 home win over Airdrie United. Was pleased with the win but this was another game that the goals didn't come from any of our strikers. I need them to find their shooting boots, quickly.

5 games to go and it would seem that dropping the 4 points last month has caused us our 2nd place in the league. Still, things are tight at the top and we find ourselves only 3 points from the top spot.

Back to losing money this month but the fans are enjoying the signing of Cameron MacDonald which is pleasing. Board are moaning about the loss of Rui Marques but in-reality he wasn't good enough to benefit the team any longer.

The boy MacDonald proving to be a shrewd signing and in the process being rewarded for his fine form, winning himself Young Player of the Month.

Now I have a choice to make. Kilmarnock are 7-points adrift at the bottom of the SPL and look like a dead-cert to be relegated into Division One next season. I tried to ask them to delay the appointment until the end of the season but the game won't allow me because I'm apparently not yet in the final third of the season?

What to do, what to do?

id take it but ive left Morton before and regretted it...so its upto you

I'm at a crossroads here! Leaning towards yes as I've had a soft spot for Killie ever since Ally McCoist and Ian Durrant left Rangers to go there.

I would have only took the job at Killie if you were able to delay it until the end of the season, otherwise I'd stick with Morton.

See that's what I was thinking mate and I'm unsure why the game won't allow me to delay the decision until the end of the season. it MUST be because the SPL teams aren't in the last third of their season because Div 1 teams definitely are.

On the other hand there's the chance to stay on at Morton and see which teams are available at the end of the season.

Hmmm...

I took the plunge. The offer to take over at Kilmarnock was too good to turn down. I was torn between this decision and staying to finish the season at Morton. But ultimately Killie won.

As I took over with 5/6 games to go and with a real chance of saving them from relegation, I decided to holiday until the end of the season which ensured that Kilmarnock continued their poor form and finished bottom of the SPL.

So it's time to get started on chapter 2 of my career. The board are rightfully expecting an instant return to the SPL this season and I feel that is an achievable target. The clubs finances are in pretty good shape as well so if I watch what I'm doing this season we can be in a pretty good position going back into the SPL, should we win the league of course.

Some MAJOR ins and outs here. I felt that the squad needed an overhaul. Especially if I was to have players to compliment my formations. Was delighted to get £2m for Jeroen Tesselaar as well as he was already wanting to leave the club when I took over so I got well rid. Brought in some excellent players for this level too. Here are a few of my top picks...

Jed Steer

Thanks to our recent affiliate link-up with Norwich, we were sent both Jed Steer and Tom Adeyemi on loan at no cost. Fantastic piece of business as already I'd say that they are now the best goalie and midfielder in the league respectively.

Managed to bolster the defense with the signing of Hamilton starlet Stephen Hendrie as well as Belgian and Italian centre-backs Choró N'Toko and Nicola Pasini. All three of these will add to an already decent defense so we should be pretty strong in that area this season.

Dougie Imrie was an absolute steal for £20k from St. Mirren, He was unhappy there and he's still a great player for this level so I think he will terrorize defences.

Up-front we brought in another one for the future who is also good enough to make an impact straight away in Steven Ross. This boy has some decent potential so I plan on giving him a decent amount of games this season in order to help boost his development so he is ready to play a part next season.

And last but not least we have our 'Marquee' signing. David Suazo. Was delighted to bring him in on a decent wage and he is still a brilliant talent for a Division One team. Him and Cilian Sheridan up-front should wrack up an enormous amount of goals!

Squad

So this is how the completed squad looks like, unless another gem of a player becomes available:

Enough strength and cover here to win the league this season so there is no excuses. I'm expecting us to walk the league this season in all honesty but it probably wont be that easy.

Except from the matches against Celtic and Newcastle we had a good pre-season. LOVING the win against Anderlecht and the little nod towards Alex Ferguson with the East Stirling win too. Squad Harmony and formations are settling in well, just in time for the competitive games to begin.

Brought in another 2 new players to the club. Felt that we lacked a little bit of cover on the wings so I brought in Algerian U-20 International Thomas Izerghouf who has decent ability and potential to get better. Also I wasn't happy with Ashley Grimes up-front so I terminated his loan and replaced him with Michel Sanchez.

Cleared out some more dead wood. Mainly youngsters with no potential or moving youngsters with some potential out on-loan for some first team experience. Also had complaints from James Fowler and Ryan O'Leary that they felt that they needed a new challenge in their careers so we got shot of them. To be fair we are pretty well filled in the centre-back and centre-mid positions so they won't be missed and have helped me bring in a total of £2.3m in transfer fees and free up some wages.

Combined the ony competitive game in July in with the August update as it makes more sense to do that. Started off the season really well, totally obliterating Annan Athletic and Stirling Albion in the Challenge Cup and the League Cup, scoring 12 goals in the process.

Started off our First Division campaign with a comfortable home win against Raith Rovers in a match that we bossed from the start.

Really disappointed with the 1-0 loss to Queen of the South in the Challenge Cup. Had us down for winning this competition after Rangers got put out in the first round but no chance of that now.

Back to the league and we picked up 4 points from a possible 6 on the road, winning against Hamilton but conceding 2 second half goals to draw with my old club Morton away from home.

Rounded off the month with passage through to the 3rd Round of the League Cup with a 4-1 victory over Hamilton and a lucky 1-0 home win in the league against Falkirk. I say lucky because we had N'Toko sent off on 60 minutes so we did really well to still score and win the game after that.

Form-wise Cillian Sheridan and Dougie Imrie were the stand-out performers last month. Sheridan bagging himself 5 goals and Imrie chipping in with 6 assists.

4 games in, 3 wins and a draw. Not a bad start and that's put us top of the league on goal difference. Early signs would show that Morton and Falkirk are going to be our main title contenders this season. Good to see the od club doing well.

19-year-old winger Rory McKenzie wind Player of the Month for August. His form has been great but I still think that Dougie Imrie should have gotten this and that Rory should have maybe been given Young Player of the Month. Not gonna' complain though, McKenzie has also been great this month.

Woo-hoo! Scored my first 'Fergie-Points' at long last! Not before time as well

Solid month anyway. If we can keep up the good form into the coming months then we can put a bit of a margin between us and the other teams in the league.
