Breaking news: Due to the impossibility for me to get a job in Austria, my attempt to conquer Europe won't be happening on this version I'm afraid. However, I have returned with what will be a Journeyman career as I've loaded up nations from around the world and it's already been tested and proved that I can get a job so this shouldn't be ending anytime soon.

Just like the previous time I done this, I've gone with very few rules. I must start unemployed, I must start with a Sunday League Footballer reputation, I'm going to try and not cause problems with harmony (seemed to be a problem of mine on FM13) and I'm going to try and remain within the wage budgets at all times.

Setup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RrOZolJOGNt5IlqTZ7qBOQ8YSSVv5zL4KfQrexf9.jpg

This is the setup I've gone with that will hopefully see me have an epic Football Manager 2014 career. Twelve nations have been loaded up in Turkey, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Finland, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden and Uruguay. They're all playable straight down to the last playable nation (without d/l league expansions) and I'm hoping I can find a job as soon as possible.

As of the end of the season the following leagues will no longer be playable for the forseeable future - Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, South Africa and Sweden and they're going to be replaced by Norway, Russia, Scotland and Ukraine.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VQ8cLTHrMioQL8EnW76YosOn1cHB2iBkOjn0qCXx.jpg

As per usual I will be playing as Shedender, a young twenty-six-year-old manager who was born in Dundonald and is from Northern Ireland but partly Scottish. I'm going to try and apply my favorite 4231 formation when possible as I look to play a lovely smooth brand of attacking football throughout my career. I'm a Bangor fan and my goal in this career is to manage them in the future.

Click the seasons tap at the top to see how well I've done throughout my seasons in this career.

Just days after I had qualified to become an official football manager I decided it was time to test myself in the world of management. As I looked at the current vacancies I didn't care where I had to head, all I wanted to do was become a proper football manager and test myself.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/o40lXFiyQDjbicS9Cgqj9KwX2LJfFtOQ2dhk6QSn.jpg

Applying for an international job would have made me a laughing stock before I had even begun so that ruled out the Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland, DR Congo, Gabon and Zambia jobs.

I didn't really want to start with a semi-professional club so that saw me wipe Bohemians, AC Oulu and Larne off the list so it left me applying for the Kirklarelispor and Cankinspor jobs in Turkey, English side Stockport County as well as a job in South Africa that for some reason isn't on the list and now I just need to wait to see if I can get an interview.

Cheers Charlie, I've applied for several clubs and had two interviews. They've both approached me and this update will prove who I've went and managed.

Thanks Dan, compared to what I've went through in Austria, I've received a job pretty sharpish.

Decision time: Where do I head two, Stockport or Jomo Cosmos?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/mt9GEMhwlgULNOsulZrRxnrtRomlknktUh2kRwdh.png https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1TBZqZEuEQsYExgvmm59ImBrfzIYI1XEDL8GUH2L.png

After applying at several clubs I was only offered two interviews, one was at English side Stockport County while the other one was at South African First Division side Jomo Cosmos and as I headed to the interviews, I was only interested in one thing at the time and that was passing them before I could even consider the future.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/uDK6FbjsyYTYfSNnsxCOh6IpWLExJqFNHMUx6DRP.jpg
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ac9tyxvgAUEuRO3eea0LBVFAvRoMI35x9iHaD8Wu.jpg

They both approached me with one-year contract deals and I had both promised them that I'd try and play attacking football. Stockport, who play in the Skrill North offered me £240 per week but no transfer budget while Jomo Cosmos also offered me a one-year deal (I managed to extend it to two) but a £140k transfer budget. It was a no brainier really.

http://i.imgur.com/apOEFj7.jpg

Decision has been made and I will be starting my managerial reign at South African side Jomo Cosmos as they've decided to take a punt on an unknown Northern Irish manager with no managerial background.

I was introduced to fans at the Makhulong Stadium this morning and I bet most of them were wondering... "who the hell is this bum and why has he turned up at our club?"

They look a good team Dan, so I feel it's a good starting point for me instead of Stockport County (no disrespect to them), I don't know what to expect from the team this season bar a hopeful promotion charge.

The last time I managed in South Africa was with African Warriors and they're crap so I didn't enjoy the game Robbie, really hoping this will be different.

Cheers George, seems everyone has been Jomo that I feel I should have started with Stockport instead, I joke of course.

Season 2013/14: Pre season round-up

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/MIk6V23zlphBD3EYFvh4i09bbsCyFhtOdp645j6w.png

As soon as I arrived at Jomo Cosmos I had a long and hard look at the current squad and realised that changes had to be kept to a minimum as the squad I had looked good enough to mount a promotion bar and all that was needed was a few central midfielders and strikers as we lacked in those two departments.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0I1NJJ5LKYaAC5VMnhLf9CidUwAfy09IodQtI71y.jpg

The first summer signing I had made was to see Diangudlangu arrive at the club following his release from top flight club Ajax Cape Town, the lad doesn't look great but will only be used for back-up this summer while twenty-seven-year-old right back Ntloana arrived on a free as we only had one right back in the first team, the South African will be used in a rotation option this season as our other right back is quality too.

Our third summer signing of the season saw Rambo arrive at the club, our second signing that can play in central midfield and he looks a decent prospect at twenty-one while our last summer signing Mbongo is a quality striker who I will make sure sees game time this season, only twenty-four and he arrived following his release from fellow NFD side African Warriors.

The three players who departed the club this summer were all poor reserve team players who didn't have the "it factor" to make it or was just poor. Defensive midfielder Samb who is twenty-six, twenty-six-year-old right winger Mthembu and twenty-five-year-old shot stopper Khoza all had their contracts terminated early.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/52tEya6EdmZgmn5OibPS26BLHUdlVgelkw9EEZuN.jpg

Preseason was a mixed bag with two wins, two draws and a defeat from our five game, things didn't start well when we crashed to a 5-3 defeat to non-league Dynamos and then surrendered a two goal lead against Premiership side Swallows as Sono and Motha looked to have us in control but they fought back to draw but we played very well.

We then travelled to Polokwane City and drew a blank before winning our first game 3-1 at home to City Sharks as Motha, Khali and Mokoena struck and preseason concluded with a six-two win over Trabzon. Despite losing 2-0 at one stage goals from Nwadike 2, Thango, Monare, Mbongo and Chikila saw a stunning come back result to at least give us some sort of confidence for the league starting.

Two games in, a promising start made
August 2013

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nXYftargjEb2VOgWoWeL3lC2RK1qiXeOC0sgZ63g.png

On the back of a mixed preseason it was important we attempted to make a steady start to our league campaign as I started out at home to FC Cape Town before travelling to league favorites Chippa on transfer deadline day.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/deW7NzJv3GNVUyDDXAtbKdY4DcMnMyJqdJP2RiD7.jpg

The league season kicked off with a home game against Cape Town and despite falling behind to a fourteenth minute Richardson goal we managed to turn the game around thanks to two second half goals. We equalized on sixty-six minutes through Nwadike before substitute Aka fired in a dramatic winner in the second minute of stoppage time.

On transfer deadline day we headed to league favorites Chippa United and despite playing extremely well could only manage a draw, Badenhorst broke the deadlock in first half stoppage time to give us the league but Chippa levelled the scores on sixty-seven minutes through Gilbert.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CkAqXbwmLWc39w0hu1hMr19E9P2FxnYEEegUGGkV.jpg

After two league fixtures we are currently occupying sixth place with four points from our two games.

Black Leopards, Blackburn, Vasco and Santos currently occupy 100% records while Cape Town, African Warriors, Roses and Maluti haven't picked up a point in the first month.

Three games, three wins as our solid start continues
September 2013

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rTZn91CPA1qqHSQBAVBhewN4nCimu0KAGvDbQ6qW.png

With four points picked up from our opening two games, the side entered September looking to continue their fine start to life in the NFD, we had one home game against Milano United before back to back away games versus United and African Warriors, would we continue our fine start to the season?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VVAhpzLlJd3jeEeprp3FfVWuWQHrJgKh3tvbrbeb.jpg

Our opening fixture of the month was our only home game in September when Milano United visited the Makhulong Stadium as I managed to pick up an excellent three one victory with all goals arriving in the second half. Goals from Nwadike and Sono had us two up but Philander pulled one back for the visitors before Shitolo sealed an impressive victory with a third goal eight minutes from time.

We then headed to Rustenburg to face United who we defeated two one. Jomo Cosmos took a thirty-sixth minute lead through Mokoena before Sono converted a penalty five minutes into the second half to make it two, once again we failed to keep a clean sheet as Khune halved the deficit but we held on.

The month concluded with a trip to win-less African Warriors and we defeated them three two to maintain our unbeaten start to the season, Kaimbi and a double from substitute Mbongo sealed the win - Masilela and Dlamini scored for the Warriors.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/jcjxbJAbXfAejryipbq69Nd3XiVdDgIm5lvr7AAY.jpg

I'm satisfied with the start we've made to the league season as we're in third place and still unbeaten after our opening five games and only two points behind early pacesetters Blackburn who have the only 100% record. African Warriors and Maluti FET have yet to pick up a point.

Continuing our unbeaten start to the season
October 2013

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0EShkItDx7F5nC9gAqCEN0epCkYc3U76SdiP1yqp.png

We have had an excellent start to the league season as we hadn't lost a game in our opening two games, three games awaited us in October including a tough fixture at home to Black Leopards along with a home clash against Roses and a trip to Vasco Cape Town as we looked to remain unbeaten.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/toXsvnwUgOULaNgUy7wNpwgwg4BGJS4dAREJPWXu.jpg

Things started this month with a home game against Roses and we defeated them two one despite the visitors playing with ten men since the seventh minute as Twala was dismissed. We took the lead on the quarter hour through Sono but Helder levelled for Roses four minutes later before Sibanda struck what turned out to be the winner on twenty-six minutes.

Fourteen days later we had the daunting task of hosting fellow unbeaten side Black Leopards and an excellent display saw us pick up a single goal victory as Kaimbi fired home the winner on twenty-five minutes.

A trip to Vasco would complete the month and despite playing poorly we managed to pick up an excellent three nil victory as Mokoena opened the scoring on eleven minutes, Sono doubled the lead on seventy minutes before Badenhorst completed the scoring with a third goal seven minutes from time.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KkmksW7EJkAXg4I0KOaZ4BSCMKQzLGflcsLrmCG7.jpg

Our remarkable start to the league season continues as we have now found ourselves top of the league and the only unbeaten side in the NFD and we're a point ahead of second place Blackburn while at the bottom African Warriors are now the only team who hasn't tasted victory this season to date.

Four games played, our first slip ups of the new season
November 2013

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RIsSxx7PpKGNWq6pDbITOHu4spoyX56xiOcAM8HD.png

As we entered the penultimate month of the calendar year we looked to continue or fantastic start to the season but it wasn't to be as we would suffer our first and second defeats of the NFD season much to my displeasure.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7BihaGvXqO8Xl5dgVCabzB6lldo7vZDNjtGu4lqJ.jpg

November kicked off with a home game against Santos as we would suffer our first defeat of the season as the visitors powered to victory. Santos took an eighth minute lead from the penalty spot when Mabotsa converted before a second half Wana double sealed the big victory.

Seven days later though the side traveled to Thanda Royal Zulu and despite falling behind to a twenty-fourth minute Morris goal we bounced back with three second half goals as Ntloana equalized on fifty-four minutes, central midfielder Badenhorst turned the game around with seventeen minutes left before Sibanda added a third with twelve minutes left.

We returned home to entertain Sibutsa Stars and eased to a three nil victory, first half goals from Mokoena on 37 and Kaimbi on 41 had us two up at half time before Kaimbi added a third goal on seventy-three minutes to seal the win.

The month would finish with a trip to Witbank Spurs and we would suffer a disappointing three two defeat despite being two up inside the opening fifteen minutes when both Mbongo and Badenhorst struck but two goals inside four minutes from Ngobe and Chivaviro made it two all after only twenty-six minutes and then Chivaviro's second goal six minutes into the second half sealed the win. Annoying.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QUuKzQRe8wwCtVdV3YC6rk6W7gEVIJqZYZfgJpPZ.jpg

Those two defeats have seen us fall down to third place but only on goal difference so it's not as bad as first feared, Santos are currently in second and Blackburn are the leaders of the NFD. Cape Town are currently propping up the league table with just one win from their opening twelve games.

Bouncing back in the league but already out of Nedbank Cup
December 2013

http://i.imgur.com/aXXRrfF.png

With my side suffering two league defeats last month it was important we attempted to bounce back in the final calendar month as we faced Blackburn and Maluti in the league along with a Nedbank Cup preliminary round trip to Thanda Royal Zulu. Would we bounce back or the poor form continues?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/uv00j0o3TFsDZ5axmTwlRBw4ymOOK1Tb1XH9NVvr.jpg

We started the final month of twenty thirteen on the road to Blackburn (RSA) and a solid performance saw us run out 5-3 winners as Sono broke the deadlock after only four minutes to give us the lead, Badenhorst made it two before Simandla pulled one back but Kaimbi made it three one after twenty-five minutes and then attacking midfielder Mokoena fired home a fourth goal on the stroke of half time. A second Badenhorst goal made it five one but we let Blackburn back into the game when Zwane and Gumede both scored late on.

Seven days later we hosted struggling Maluti high on confidence and we defeated them five one with Mokoena firing twice to put us two up inside the opening five minutes and then Mbongo made it three a minute before half time, Maluti pulled a goal back in first half stoppage time but second half goals from Sono and Sibanda sealed an impressive win.

My side then headed to fellow NFD side Thanda and crashed out of the cup at the first hurdle, Bergman scoring a wonderful goal in first half stoppage time.

Starting 2014 in scintillating form with four wins on the trot
January 2014

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gTuFBsrEEVYIbIbMGRHEUZzjYohHEp4m93OQmkm2.png

We have had a stunning first half of the season here at Jomo Cosmos as we find ourselves top of the table and three points clear heading into the New Year. January would see us play four games with three of them being on the road against Baroka, Cape Town and Milano while we only played the one home game this month versus Chippa United.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7qTIMYf82fxKZSCqsO6nm54mFAVdYDgfG2wHKuB7.jpg

Our first game of the New Year was a trip to Baroka and we picked up a three two victory on our travels as first half goals from Kaimbi who struck twice and Sono had us three up at half time but we let the hosts back into it with two goals in the final ten minutes but the side managed to hold on.

Our only home game of the month was next against Chippa and a stunning performance saw us run out deserved three one victors as Sono broke the deadlock from the spot after only five minutes, on fifty-nine minutes Chippa equalized through Makgothi but late goals from Mbongo and Mokoena within the final six minutes sealed the win.

We then headed to bottom of the table Cape Town and produced a decent away performance, winning six three despite being 5-1 up at half time as Monare (16 + 32), Sono (28), Kaimbi (39) and Sibanda (42) scored while Ngabeni scored for the hosts in the first period. We only added one more goal in the second half as Kaimbi scored his second but Cape Town added two late goals for themselves as Makauta (83) and Erasums (85) made the score a little more respectable for the bottom side.

January would come to an end with our third trip this month as we visited Milano and edged a nine goal thriller, winning five four in a frustrating game. It took only ten minutes for us to open the scoring as Mbongo scored and then an own goal seven minutes later made it two but the home side pulled a goal back through Nazier on thirty-one minutes. Sono fired home a penalty on fifty-two minutes to make it three one before the same guy made it four against the ten men, two more Nazier goals to complete his hat trick and Philander made it four all much to my disgust but Sono completed struck a treble on ninety-two minutes to sell victory but I wasn't amused with the poor defending.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/vgghrvaiAbVB1pF5C9biCeuU7XTWknq6TyfrcDII.jpg

The gap at the top of the table is getting bigger as we now find ourselves nine points clear of second place Santos after eighteen games, which I'm pleased with but I'm not pleased with the twenty-eight goals we've conceded to date in those games. Cape Town are still propping up the table and look certain for the drop unless they sort out the form.

Continuing to entertain - twelve scored and seven conceded this month
February 2014

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/OinrNi3M8muU7nbdW3GSMmQgFfRnWB0zP0tLrIHy.png

As we closed into the "business end" of the season and a promotion push looking good, we looked to continue our unbeaten start in twenty fourteen as February brought four games including a tough trip to Black Leopards.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DjiZ0t1lNnnCh25BtAVk477R2D2RTL6Ig33GTS6K.jpg

Our month started with a home game against United and a solid performance saw us run out three nil winners as all the goals arrived in the first half. It took eleven minutes for the deadlock to be broken when Shitolo headed home and then Kaimbi doubled the lead three minutes later, Monare added a third in first half stoppage time to seal the win.

A week later the side traveled to face Roses and won a seven goal thrller four three as goals from Badenhorst and Monare had us two goals up before Roses halved the deficit through Helder two minutes before the break, Sibanda headed home a third goal but Twala and Nkambule both scored to make it three all before Sono struck a dramatic winner in stoppage time.

Next up was a trip to Black Leopards and the points were shared following a two all draw. The home side took the lead from the spot on three minutes through Maake before Sibanda equalized on twenty-seven minutes, Black Leopards looked like they had won the game when Maraka struck a second with just three minutes to go however left back Zulu made it two all with the game entering stoppage time.

We completed the month with a home game against African Warriors and won three two despite taking a three goal half time lead when Kaimbi, Mbongo and Mokoena all struck but Warriors did pull a goal back ten minutes into the second half through Serubarube before Makume added a late second but we held on.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/h8odvYRmIBH1Mzl4GXpWPAiFzu25Rhvf8a6UZ6lj.jpg

Following another unbeaten month we remain top of the table and now fourteen points clear at the top of the table but I still refuse to get carried away as we're still shipping goals.
