I've dug out the line up for England in that game @kingrobbo - check this out...

Seaman
Sterland
Pearce
Michael Thomas
Adams
Pallister
Robson
Rocastle
Beardsley
Lineker
Waddle

Used subs:
Alan Smith (as in the Arsenal striker) - for Beardsley
Gascoigne - for Waddle
Marwood - for Thomas

Manager: Sir Bobby Robson, or Bobby Robson as he was known as then.

I think I did on at my pal's house a few times...

I have just thought of a couple more football games of yesterday. Microprose Soccer on the Commodore 64, and of course playing FIFA '98 (Road to the World Cup) on the PS. The latter used to be called the woo-hoo game by a friend's younger brother: well to be honest Gareth was about 7 or 8 at the time it came out haha....

Loving this thread - for me Late nights and early mornings round mates house playing SS and SWOS on the Amiga. And breaking endless joysticks playing that game. Nothing has come close to that experience.

Smokey London nights playing CM till the sunrise in the 90s came close.

Swos has been the game I enjoyed more, playing against friends. Other classics have been Emlyn Hughes International Soccer, Mexico 86, Kick Off, Player Manager, Microprose Soccer...
I started with FM series quite late, with CM4 (here in Italy Scudetto 4).

Why are you advertising ID fraud?

Check the profile: 0 posts, 0 data submissions etc. and their first ever comment. It could be a bot. I remember the same kind of messages appearing during the quietesest night time, offers ranging from steroids, escorts, dating and medicine to false ID's. I think this is the first I've seen since the site got updated to the current, new, version. I suppose some spam will always trickle through.
The admins will take care of it soon, if it indeed turns out to be an advertising/spamming bot.

SWOS on the Amiga1200 was superb, have you seen the 2020 version?

Excellent on PC, updated with current squads, Xbox controller compatible too.

Football Manager 2011 for me. Hands down. Actually started playing it again and it's so nostalgic.

Sensi!  My favourite game as a teenager.  Had it on the Atari ST and my mate had it on the Megadrive, back when games on CD were the new thing.  I never knew about this version until now - pity it's not on Mac.  The banana shots were great and the ridiculous sliding tackles too.  Many an hour spent playing tournaments with my mates.

With all the fine work that folks do on here, FM21 is my current favourite game (921 hours on Steam, unbelievable.)  So much better with FlutSkin and rab's adboard patch, not to mention the kits, databases, etc.

Loved CM 93-94.  4 players in the team called Tadeusz Kruzynski and player values of max around 5 million - you knew you had a player on your hands if the money reached that level.  Changed days!!

I remember that!  Goalkeeper: 3, Defence: 1, Midfield: 2, Attack: 2!  Haha!  Also Kevin Toms' Football Manager on the Spectrum.  There used to be a Dutch game called Voetbal 3D which I loved.  You could bounce the ball on the player's head from one end of the pitch to the other and not get tackled before scoring.

Oh yes, Kevin Toms' Football Manager got me addicted to Football Management games as soon as it was released. Never looked back since.

Just recently installed a C64 emulator to the laptop and gotten hold of FD as well as KTFM. Just need to work out how it save games on it and I'll be sorted. Here's another one you might recall: The Double made by a company called Johnson Scanatron.

Never played that Dutch game though...sounds like a decent retro title mind!

The guys at Champman0102.net have updated the game to run at 1980 x 1200  resolution, with current players, staff, leagues / promotions etc for the 21-22 season even with VAR in the commentary

back to basics retro gaming when you could do a season in a day

Happy days!  I've owned every version of the game since Champ Manager 93 and 01-02 was fantastic.

Premier Manager anyone?

Yes, had that and enjoyed it.  Found it difficult to get into with Champ Manager hours!  Remember Graham Taylor's Soccer Challenge and Dino Dini's Kick Off Player Manager?

The Dutch game was known as International Soccer in English - a title from 1983 apparently!!!
