This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.

Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file

STEP 1.
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2020\data\database\db\2000
DELETE the dbc , edt and lnc folders

Notes:
\Program Files (x86)\
could be
\Program Files\
depending on your set up.

Mac
OPEN

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down

For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Slightly more detail in this post

STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the downloaded pack

STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

These are what the respective folder structures should look like in the 2040 folder:

dbc: https://i.imgur.com/je40Ajx.png
dbc/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/1FH8ABp.png
edt/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/aat5BqX.png
lnc: https://i.imgur.com/a87Z77C.png

STEP 4:
COPY the 8 files located in the EDITOR DATA FILES folder in the downloaded pack

STEP 5
PASTE to
\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\editor data

\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\\GAMEPASS\editor data

Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:

Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2020’

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.

Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Don't work for me on epic platform. I do with the instruction and pick addons when i start new game but clubs from Bundesliga, Juventus, BPL, La liga, Cup's don't work.
Other clubs for example Ligue 1 or clubs from Serie A work fine, face addons work, logos and license too in this league.
I download this mod, kits, logos and faces.

I play it on Steam so I can't really tell what the folder structure for Epic Games is or would be.

Can you post screenshots of where you're placing the files from this download? Perhaps I can suggest alternatives.

You should be able to replicate steps 1-3 of the installation process, using the respective folder instead of the Steam ones. Can I have screenshots of the folders on your PC as displayed in step 3?

Where did you put the editor data files, though?

I had the same problem as @derkrzychu. I've applied these fix many times in previous versions, so I guess I got cocky and didn't read the instructions properly. On Epic install, there's an "editor data" folder in the "database\db\20xx" folders too, so I copied the files there. If I'd read the instructions, I would've noticed they're supposed to go in the user data folder.

It's really annoying since I'm playing in Spain and now there's Hispalis and Atletico Pamplona etc. but maybe I'll manage. I already played like a month in-game and hired all the staff, so I ain't starting again, hahah. So for future reference, for whoever's having the problem particularly in an Epic Games installation:
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS even if you've done this before and know what you're doing.

I'm about to install this myself. The "Editor Data" folder's path is "[Wherever it's located in your drive(s)] > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2020 > editor data".

What exactly doesn't work? Screenshots please.

I haven't even downloaded it yet, but I can't see anything in the list of fixes which could stop this file from working when installed correctly.

It's just you, I'm afraid. If you've downloaded and applied these files correctly before starting a new game, then you shouldn't have any issues...

Downloaded this game from Epic Games and applied your fixes from here.

The club and cup names are correct.

The problem is the emblems of the clubs, cup logos and squad pictures are still not the correct ones.

Have done all the steps from here multiple times and still cannot get them to work.

Any idea where I could be going wrong?

Thank you.

Hi there!
This Fix only takes care of the real names. You would have to download and install the logos and other such graphics that you need separately. Check the Graphics section on the upper banner of this site, you can navigate through various graphical downloads contributed by the community through there.
Good luck!

Trying it on Epic version and I get a weird issue where if I start a new career Juventus is Juventus, but if I choose to create my own club Juventus is Zebra... Any ideas why this would be happening?

When starting a career, you use the editor data files installed as part of this download. Where choosing create-a-club, you don't. One of the quirks of FM, which unfortunately there is no fix for...

Since FM21 hasn't been released yet, I can't really answer this question, can I??

Where did you see this? I can't see how anybody can definitely be aware of this, short of SI confirming it officially, and, given they've allowed these files for the last 15 years, I don't see why they would.

As always, we'll do our best to offer the most comprehensive licensing fix permitted once FM21 comes out
