I've seen a lot of 3D kits here on the forum and I thought why don't we have something that can convert those into 2D kits? Well, you can find the answer below. In 2020 I started with the 3D to 2D standard kit conversion template for Photoshop, whereby you copy and paste elements from the kit into smart objects that are warped into the right place. For FM22, I've made more improvements to the standard kit and also added support for 3D to SS kit style conversion!

We also use a script that uses your config.xml and transforms that into an output directory with the kits of your choice! @DokteurHaisse did an amazing job creating a Photoshop JSX script, that automatically generates the 2D minikits from an input file (config.xml) of your 3D kits directory. Together, we made it a bit more user friendly (also for macOS users).

There are two tutorials included in the zip, both for the script as for adding the kit manually to the template.

Running into any issues with the download or do you want to perfect this project? Let me know!

Drop you creations below, I'm curious to see what you all made!

@wfm18 you need help with the FM 21/22 kits? I have a week off work next week. DM me if you do.

I don't have anything planned but a couple of new 3D kits that can be converted is always a great job 🙂

Everyone has their own taste. I think it's good people focus on other kit styles.

However, if we all make a shared effort it would be so much easier to do a lot more kits. Regarding the amount of research that went into FC'12 kits for example it is a shame that we do not have the 3D kits as well. Gathering logos, positioning them, coloring the kit is often the most time-consuming part. When I want to create a kit that has already been made in FC'12 style, I'm not able to reuse that effort. 3D kits are - in my opinion - the foundation of every kit style.

Recently, I've been working on 3D to SS style kits. Still far from finished, but it definitely shows the potential of 3D to X conversion. Example of an export from 3D to SS below, still needs a lot of work.

Note: Please do not use the kit above.

You are right, but SS kits and fc12 kits do not look as realistic as standard kits. In my opinion, the 3d kit is the patch that gives the game the most pleasure. It is very nice with 3d kits in the match engine in the game.

and you have found a solution to create standard kits with these 3d kits. This is what I want to tell. If some of the people focus on these 3d kits and make them, let's make standard kits with these 3d kits. There would be no extra time wasted for SS kits and fc12 kits.

because these standard kits look really nice and most importantly they are the same as the original kits of the game. Therefore, there would be no loss of time for the standard kits and 3d kits of the German league, the French league, the Italian league and some similar licensed leagues in the original state of the game.

Of course, ss kits and fc12 kits are the first choice of many friends. But I think it's just because it's a habit. Because many people do not know about the standard kits and do not know how they look because they do not use them. In fact, if you had a meeting with friends who made ss kits and fc12 kits and talked about this issue, it would be much better for everyone if they concentrated on 3d kits and standard kits.

there will be less waste of time, and since many friends will focus on this work, more leagues and more jerseys will be made.

I just wanted to give an idea. But as I said SS kits and fc12 kits people are just used out of habit. The standard kits are the same as the kits in the original version of the game, and look much more realistic and beautiful.

It is necessary to familiarize and endear people to these standard kits. It is difficult but it is necessary to draw people's attention to standard kits and 3d kits. 🙂 🙂

I'm sorry for my bad english. I hope I was able to convey what I wanted to say. 🙂

Yeah agree. The only issue that I see is that 3D and standard kits do change from what SI decides for their player modals. I hope SI will once release a 3D to Standard converter themselves or the model that they use for creating them. We know they have them, since they create those 2D ones based on the 3D kit as well. They know the community creates mods (they even allow Steam workshop, so they encourage it), so I think they should provide modders the tools to create 3D/2D kits. Racing games provide those tools as well, or for example Flight Simulator has a whole SDK for people to edit airports but also to make simple thumbnails of their airplane liveries.

I couldn't find an English version, but I also know that for Pro Cycling Manager there is a community batch program that uses the 3D model (provided by the game developer) and creates the mini maillot. Included a timestamp at 23:49. I don't know if we as community have the knowledge to create this. Of course my Photoshop PSD works similar, but not optimal and I'll never be able to make it optimal. That mini maillot tool can be found here if you are interested: https://goo.gl/rmSc4f. @DokteurHaisse do you have any experience with creating these kind of files/programs?

Yes I agree with this 100%.  If I had to only use one graphic mod in FM it would be the 3d kits.  I never used to bother with any 2d kits until this fantastic converter came along and now any 3d kit I make can quickly have a 2d equivalent.  There does seem to be a lack of people who use them though, I'm thinking about people I sometimes see streaming FM on twitch and youtube.  Very few seem to use 3d kits, I don't know if it's because they don't know about them or they just don't really care.  Whereas pretty much everyone uses logos and ss kits.  I don't know maybe 3d kits are just the best kept secret in FM.

No, unfortunately, I know how to use photoshop at a very low level, but he is also very novice, I made the 3d kits and 2d SS kits of the Turkish super league and 2nd leagues during the fm20 period, but it took me almost 1 month.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/xuo3uh9rzy2gc3q/T%25C3%25BCrkiye_Ligleri_Kits_%25282D-3D%2529_Mega_Pack.rar/file If you want to take a look, you can check it out here.

I wanted to share it on this site at that time, but my work was not accepted because another friend made the Turkish league. Also, I was able to make 3d kits thanks to a friend who shared a lot of templates and materials. because i'm really new to photoshop.

3d kits are not well known in Turkey. Very few people used 3d kits. I struggled a lot to make people in Turkey love 3d kits. Now people slowly started to like it and people started to like it.

People generally prefer ss kits and fc12 kits as 2d kits. Now these people need to get used to the Standard kits. Because, for example, the more beautiful the 3d kits add pleasure and detail to the game, the more beautiful and original the standard kits are.

Of course, this is just my opinion, that is, if many patchers, friends who create these ss kits and fc12 kits, focus on 3d kits and standard kits, much more 3d kits, much more standard kits can be created. For example, I am looking at the SS kits of the German league, the SS kits of the Italian league, the kits of the French or other licensed leagues, and I think this is a waste of time. But of course that's just my opinion.

I hope 3d kits will become widespread in the future, players like standard kits more and get used to standard kits. 🙂

I agree with you one hundred percent. Most of the people don't know about 3d jerseys. I live in turkey. and nobody in Turkey knew until 2-3 years ago. But in fm20, I made the 3d jerseys of the Turkish league, so at least I tried to do it. And I made a nice introduction and people slowly got used to it and started to like it. Because in my opinion, the best patch 3d kits are the best in the game. I tried too and I can use photoshop a little bit. Also, a friend on this site shared some of the ready-made 3d kits with ready-made templates, ready-made drawings, and I made the 3d jerseys of the Turkish league with them.

for example, ss kits have a ready-made template and ready-made model archive and they add new ones every day. A friend who is not a patch maker comes and downloads them, and they can create their own kits by struggling and learn how to make patches like this and how to make SS kits. It would be great if something like this could be done in 3d kits. because that's how I learned it, a friend shared the 3d kits himself, but it's like a little model or a template, so I downloaded that file somehow, but it's not up to date. Unfortunately, many 3d kit makers do not share their own models. If he shared, maybe more people will learn and try.

Have you looked at the 3d kits template thread? Bolid has made available many templates.  There is still a bit of a learning curve and it may not allow you to make every kit design, but it's a massive help.

Also what is the password for your 3d Turkish kits? I'd like to scrutinize them.

There are indeed a lot of templates made by @bolid74, which you can also reuse and adapt for other brands. For example the collars and so on are usable for other brands most of the times. A very handy tool is https://alexmichelet.github.io/3dkits-viewer/ in which you can preview how the 3D kit will look ingame. Logo positioning is key, especially for conversion to 2D  - whatever kit style being converted to. That is one of the rookie mistakes I'd say, which we hope to solve with this tool.

On the other hand, a very good way of creating kits is by using original FM kits as baselines. They have a lot of licensed brands in there and a lot of them we can use of logo positioning or kit design in general. I hope for FM22 the template does not change, so we can easily adapt new stuff in there. Otherwise we (I think my friend @DokteurHaisse can help with that) need to export UV maps again and start from scratch with templates, which we could all take a part in to share the workload.

yes, I already made the ready-made templates shared by your bolid friend using ready-made models. I was on FM20 and I learned a lot. What I want to tell is, for example, there is a subject in SS kits, such as archives, everyone immediately shares the templates they made, they constantly share new models, and we can download them and add them to the archive. We can make SS kits immediately. The 3d kits shared by Bolid are very beautiful and very useful, but there are very few models and templates. In other words, I think it would be much more useful if it updates it every week or if other 3d kit makers share their own templates and models.

The SS kits site I mentioned is on this page, for example, many friends share models and designs here and are constantly updated. Wouldn't it be possible to do it for 3d kits like this?

For some reason many 3D kit makers are very jealous of their creations and are unwilling to share their work. My personal opinion is that if I share my files, those will be used to make other leagues that I wouldn't do, so I also profit at the end. Unfortunately not all share my opinion.

Thank you so much for writing and sharing. Thanks to you, I made the 3d kits package of the Turkish leagues in fm20. And I know very little how to use photoshop. I tried to love and get used to the 3d jersey patch to people in Turkey. It was liked a little bit and people got used to the 3d kit patch.

The 3d kit patch, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful patches in the game. It was not known at all in Turkey 2-3 years ago and was not used. Now people have gotten used to it, mostly as a result of your efforts and my efforts.  because I made the Turkish leagues thanks to the ready-made templates you shared. So also thank you.

What I want to say here is that, as you know, there are very few people who deal with these patches and know about this subject. So if the makers of this kit, 3d kit or 2d kit, helped and shared with many friends, and other friends would have learned as well. So maybe you are making 500-1000 kits and you get tired. If many other friends learned, maybe you would make 100-200 and you would be less tired.

In this way, both the 3d jerseys of more leagues and the workload would be divided. Everyone would enjoy the game more.

You are generous in this regard. I would recommend these articles to other friends. They are not jealous and if shared, both sides win. because the more people learn, the less their workload will be.

I'm sorry for my bad english. I hope I conveyed what I wanted to say. 🙂

What is ‘gamepass’? Is it a thing like steam?

Yes I have a folder called 'kits' with the kits in them and folder called ‘logos’ with the logos in.  Both of these are in the ‘graphics’ folder.

You don't have to, but it is the best way to organize things indeed. Glad that everything is working for you right now 🙂 If you're going to buy FM22 (I just ordered mine haha) you can cut/paste all files and folders inside graphics into the graphics folder of FM22 to get them working, useful for logos and facepacks. For kits it is a bit different, since the template might change and so on.

That is your good right 🙂 Funny because the SS kits do not have the right proportions in my opinion. But it's all just a matter of taste. I also like things being authentic and ‘default’ if you'd like. So I always mod like it was officially licensed by the game.

Anyway, I think it still would be good to take 3D as a base and convert to whatever 2D style you prefer. See the exported image above.

Posted by Miles today, the 2D kit will be unchanged! An update to this template will be done in a couple of weeks, around FM22's release.
