The only ones that seem to rate him are Man United managers and the England team, because he's routinely up for selection despite being quite awful.

Well, the alternative today was a 40-year-old or Anderson.

Rooney:

Just watched game back. I agree mine was bad tackle and ref dealt with it. And Martin Tyler didn't shut up about it all game.

Then someone slaps someone in face and he doesn't speak a word about it. I like Martin but that's poor from him

Don't think he's very highly rated here.

Only plays because he's an academy graduate and we've got fuck all else.

Never would have signed a player like him.

Tbf, when Tyler decides that he doesn't agree with an incident he does mention it as often and as frequently as humanely possible.

He's turned in to a right cunt recently, and the fact he loves Arsenal is pretty obvious as well. Barely has the enthusiasm for anyone else that he used to.

Tyler's a professional and clearly isn't going to be biased. Rooney is so often praised for his workrate, his passing ability and for some of the goals he scores - commentators love him over here, as you'd expect.

What annoys me is that rather than manning up and admitting he should have seen red, he feels the need to have a go at a commentator who hardly said anything bad about him and Medel, who did something as equally as reckless as him.

I just despise Rooney though so I'm probably just biased. He's a cunt for kicking out like he did and he's in no position to start criticizing others when he should really be looking at his own act of petulance.

Tyler hardly said anything about it?

I'm not exaggerating, he literally didn't stop talking about it.

Whether or not Rooney is wrong to deflect (although he does at least admit it was a 'bad tackle' ) he's not wrong that Tyler is annoying.

You probably don't notice it because he's a gooner and so are you but he's just a boring, old, pernickety pain in the arse on 90% of games.

Probably only really gets away with it because he's normally alongside Neville (whose an appalling co-commentator) or someone like Quinn who is just a cunt.

A defence of him not being biased because he's a "professional" is bollocks. Have you ever heard Niall Quinn commentate?

I think the Liverpool physio inadvertently saves Mirallas from a red card, As he comes on instead of going straight to Suarez he's right in the Refs ear and you can imagine he'd be waffling on about it being a red, but then you see all of the Everton players reacting really bad to whatever was said. Maybe the ref took so long to make a decision on the yellow card because he didn't want it to seem like he was influenced to give a red and having the Everton players hear what was said by the physio?

I think if he was going to give a red he would have came out with it straight away, before the physio got involved tbh.

I don't think Martin Tyler is anywhere near as biased as Quinn. Quinn is awful.

I'm not saying he is, but the idea that someone can't possibly be biased because they're a professional commentator is ridiculous.

He had a lot of potential coming through, as lots of players do before proving to be average. Hasn't lived up to it mind.

Even so, I genuinely don't know anyone who thought he was "the dogs bollocks," at any time.

We were excited to have a "homegrown" English player coming through, I don't think anyone ever thought he'd be world class or anything.

..Um, yeah - I never said he didn't talk about it a lot. What I did say was that he wasn't slagging Rooney off or criticizing his nature in particular, but rather focused on the decision that should have been given. He probably did ramble on too much but that happens when a big name player does something controversial and is heavily involved in the game. It was the biggest talking point in the game.

I'm not saying he is, but the idea that someone can't possibly be biased because they're a professional commentator is ridiculous.

That's not why I said though, is it? Stop getting your panties in a bunch. There's a difference between describing someone as a true professional and their job simply being a professional commentator. As Ninja said, perhaps I don't notice it as much because I'm an Arsenal fan, but I don't think he holds any bias against United. Well, if he does, I don't think it's particularly obvious. He did go on for a bit yesterday but at the same time it was a huge moment in the match and Rooney was heavily involved in United's play.

If Rooney has a problem with that, then fine, but I just think it's a bit rich for him to come out and criticize Tyler and Medel when really he should be apologetic for acting like a cunt. If I was a United fan I'd be annoyed at him as he could well have seen red and cost them the game. I was angered to see Wilshere throw an elbow against United a couple of weeks ago as it's cuntish behavior and risks our side's success, and if he came out and started criticizing other people it'd really bug me.

Rooney just comes across as a dick who would rather point fingers at others rather than accepting the criticism he fully well deserved. I know he said it was a "bad tackle" - which is funny because the world tackle implies he was actually trying to win the ball - but he never admitted he should have been sent off, and by saying that the referee "dealt with it" it makes out that he felt justice was done somehow. Sure, Medel should have seen red as well, but it's just ridiculous for him to start criticizing others for violent behaviour when he shouldn't have even been on the pitch.

Somehow I feel that if United had won 2-1 he would have kept his mouth shut.

It's actually exactly what you said.

To make this a little easier for you, I'll use another example.

If someone described someone like Paul Scholes as "professional", would you take it that he's being described as someone who is very accomplished and good at his job, or simply as someone with a job?

As Slashman said, it was clear what I meant.

Alright, fair enough.

Although I don't understand why you directed three paragraphs about Rooney at my post when I didn't actually mention/defend him once.
