Their records are fairly similar though ain't they? Other than the couple of hundred million Van Gaal has spent.

There isn't a great deal between Moyes and LvG. The change between the two has more or less been a lateral one. In ways, LvG has probably disappointed given the massive money he's spent since joining for little to no real improvement being had.

One thing I'm actually curious to see is what happens when he goes. The side he's built is one that is quite specific for a formation he wants. I don't see a back 3 being used once he leaves, which will mean player roles and positions will change once more, possibly not suiting a few players he's brought in. Will be interesting.

From a financial point of view it's a very valid point of view.

Moyes led a title winning team and a club that hadn't finished under 3rd to 7th place.

LVG secured 4th spot in his first EPL season, a league that Moyes had loads of experience in.

Moyes was fucking useless. He tried doing it all himself, rejected help from others, he was incredibly negative, inept and alienated everybody at the club. One of the biggest mistakes Fergie made was selecting him, and the board letting Fergie pick the manager. I like to forget Moyes ever happened.

Van Gaal had a target given to him - top four. He did it, already more successful than Moyes. Because of Moyes we finished 7th, fucking 7th. Regardless of the poorness of the squad, 7th is just unacceptable.

The money LvG has spent has been a lot, but so far there's only been one big failure and that was Di Maria. Who ended up being a little shit who didn't want to be at the club, or even try. He couldn't even displace Ashley Young in the team ffs. The rest have looked pretty good. You would expect better football to be played, at times in the second half of last season we looked great i.e. against Spurs, City and Liverpool. He's rebuilding the team so it's going to take time until it's perfect.

We're only four games into the new season so it's too soon to judge, there are problems in attack of course but I remember 07-08 we only scored at most 1 goal in each of the first six matches. Our defence is looking better, once we get the attack sorted I think we'll do well - I'm confident we will. Van Gaal may be crazy at times, his decision making baffling and fucking annoying at times, but I really like him and we really needed someone like him after Moyes.

If those last comments are true then Rodgers and the board are even more cunts than I thought

Yeah caus a 4-2-3-1 is an entirely unique formation that no one else in Europe plays... I can't think of a single player he's bought in that would struggle in a different system, with the possible exception of Rojo who probably would be upgraded upon with a new manager who doesn't have a neurotic love for a left/right footed central defensive pairing.

I think we'll be fine when he goes, he's done a lot of good work. We press better than i can ever remember us doing, we pass the ball a lot better and we defend an awful lot better. In fact, the only really disappointing thing at all with Van Gaal's reign is the speed we play at around the opposition box. That's been compounded by the fact we've not had a good enough centre-forward since Van Gaal's been here though.

Starting what looks like possible 2 up top (unless Ings is on the wing) is a plus

Lovren going up against Fellaini on the other hand

Fellaini's first touch is horrific. Liverpool are all over the shop and he keeps wasting it.
