No one else care about this increasingly troubling David Miranda story?

To sum up events.

Guardian published reports on the PRISM programme in America, with allusions to the fact that GCHQ was involved. Since then its transpired that the British government is really pissed off, and is destroying hard-drives of Guardian computers, detaining of the partner of the Guardian journalist that broke the stories partner under 'anti-terror' laws and general stuff that you can hardly believe.

The most chilling quote about it, I think, is this:

"You've had your debate. There's no need to write any more."

They took his phone, iPod and games consoles and all that shit before his flight to Brazil, that's just pure cruel

They also went into Guardian offices and wiped all hard drives.

But I have a feeling Greenwald will have an 'accident' soon, especially after this quote:

I will be far more aggressive in my reporting from now. I am going to publish many more documents. I am going to publish things on England too. I have many documents on England's spy system. I think they will be sorry for what they did.

I don't think they'd quite be stupid to kill off Greenwald but who knows?

Nothing would surprise me anymore, it's truely shocking how far its been allowed to come.

Conspiracy going around that the Michael Hastings death was not an accident. I know it's a conspiracy but it wouldn't be surprising any more

I remember on the same night I think Hastings called Wikileaks lawyers saying the FBI were watching him.

Who was the MI5/GCHQ who committed 'suicide' by locking himself in a bag from the outside?

That one was always seriously fishy.

The whole treatment of Miranda is horrible. I want to see what other information Greenwald has, none of what he does have would surprise me tbh. Especially after what Snowden revealed and the unlawful treatment of Bradley Manning, who faces life in prison for revealing the crimes of others, and those people are allowed to be free.

May as well keep it in this topic: Bradley Manning is about to be sentenced anytime now.

A reminder of why he's there.

How people are able to laugh and say 'nice' when looking at the bodies of innocent people they just massacred. These people are allowed to walk free, yet the man who exposed these crimes is being sentenced today.

It just isn't right.

Who cares if it is not as bad. He should not have been jailed full stop. The same as Assange and Snowdon should be free men.

How Manning was tortured.

35 years for exposing the crimes of others.

It is just unbelievable and disgraceful that the war criminals are allowed to walk free.

Part of me cant help but think if he'd just released the video of the attack on reporters then he'd not have been jailed, think the sheer amount of stuff he leaked did him no favours. Not saying its right one way or the other just my two cents.

Apparently Manning could be eligible for release in 4.4 years. I can't see the US ever releasing him tbf and I can see him being killed.

No I mean just in prison in general. Even though he will likely end up in the federal pen there is still a lot of massively patriotic wankers who would love to see someone like him

Id imagine he'll be in his own cell and wont be mixing with the general prison population

This is the federal system not the prison population. There will be segregation but they can't be kept in there for that long.

Well no, he'll be allowed out of his cell but i doubt he'd be outside with all the other prisoners just because of how sensitive a inmate he will be

Good. I thought you meant that the state would kill Manning. Evidently, the state isn't perfect, especially the current administrations, but they wouldn't kill anyone as public as Manning/Snowden etc.

So Manning gets a bigger sentance than anyone incriminated through his leaks, good work America.

They are trying to push Manning massively as a transsexual now. The American public are serious going to hate him with this

What?

No, Manning has come out and said that from now on its Chelsea Manning, not Bradley. That's not a smear campaign or the US 'pushing' anything, thats just the facts of the situations. It's convenient for the US because of attitudes towards trans people, but its long been speculated that the treatment of LGBT people in the army was the reason Manning felt compelled to leak that data in the first place.

It really shouldn't change anything and it will only be fucktards that should be ignored, anyway, that think that it does.
