Won the UCL in my 9th season, came third in the prem. I am in the second half of season 11 right now and we are top of the league by three points and are in every single competition as it stands, could be the season I win a league double or treble not sure.
Tweaked the formation slightly on account of two world class players I have. Got a new DM who is best at anchor man, so swapped to this as it seems similar to BWM which i used originally. A striker I bought at 17 with excellent stats has also become first choice at 20 and he is a CF, so changed from F9 to CF and it seems to be working well if not better then the previous seasons, though could be on account of the whole team improving and the new 4.5 star DM I have.
NEW UPDATE -
Got promoted to Premiership in second championship season. Finished second. Has taken me five seasons in total from Conference National. Straight promotions all the way except for championship.
This tactic 100% is achieving very high levels of over performance. I am now 4 seasons in and so far these are the best results I have achieved in FM since 2016 when I started with this tactic. So far 3 straight promotions into the championship virtually without any money. I expected to be fighting relegation in the championship and actually again, with out even reserve players in certain positions down to lack of funds we are actually 9th 21 games in and have performing incredibly well for our first season.
To put things into perspective Leicester are in the championship with us and have a weekly wage budget of 1.1 million. We have the lowest in the league at 75k.
Pictures to show this promotions and current championship performance attached.
MAIN DESCRIPTION -
I have been playing football manager since Championship Manager 91-92 on floppy disk and decided to share my tactic I have used for the last 3 or 4 years to take teams from lower league to the premiership.
I have got to the premiership and champions league with teams like Wrexham and Coventry over the years, but Barnet are my goto team and I always start with them and try to achieve premier league within 5 or 6 seasons from conference.
The formations main features are full backs with the attacking wingback role who will get forward and overlap and get assists and goals. The wide attacking players are inside forwards who will cut in and facilitate the wingbacks overlapping. Which ever side the ball is on, the opposing inside forward will attack the far post and score a lot of goals from the wingbacks crosses.
In terms of results, as long as you train your team properly, have reasonably suited players in the key roles and man manage your squad well, this tactic can easily get you to the championship without having to change it. I start in the vanarama conference usually so this is my base of reference.
If you struggle to find a roaming play maker or false 9 in the lower leagues, these positions can be changed. I suggest advanced playmaker with support role and target man with support role respectively. You can be a little more flexible with the latter.
I usually always play with positive mentality, however this can be changed to attacking or v. attacking when you need to chase a goal.
The other good thing about this formation is it doesn't really seem to require many signings at all, if any. I always get a few loan players in, however the formation always gets the best out of players and you will see constant over performance on a regular basis.
I have updated the progress at the top now I am 4 seasons in.
