Mario Mandzukic has gone to Atletico Madrid. Good signing to replace Costa

Could possibly mean Lukaku is signing for us?
Sport in Spain have given some context around the Sanchez transfer and how Wenger convinced him to sign for us. Nice to see that Arsene still has his magic ways.

Alexis Sánchez's future took a decisive turn just a few days ago. For the Chilean, it was more than clear that his cycle with Barça was over after the events of last season, his preferences were always set on Italy. However, in Brasil, right in the middle of the World Cup he received an astonishing visitor. Coach Arsène Wenger asked to have a meeting with the player to show him his desire to incorporate him to the Arsenal ranks this very season.

Wenger convinced Alexis. He explained the benefits of a club like Arsenal and the premiership. He also assured him we would have no trouble adapting to a city like London or English football. Arsène also committed to put forward the necessary money to make Alexis' exit from Barça as smooth as possible. No need for any useless lowballing, like Juventus' laughable offer for the player.

Arsène knew to show the right appreciation to persuade an indecisive Alexis. The coach also let him know that his interest for the Chilean dated back to his youth days, when Udinese came into scene and then loaned him to River Plate in Argentina. There was no doubt back then, that the player had the necessary characteristics to be successful in a club like Arsenal.

After the meeting in Brasil, Alexis asked for a couple of days to reflect about everything discussed in the meeting.
Later, it took a couple of hours for the player let his agent (Fernando Felicevich) know that he had decided to sign for Arsenal, leaving behind any verbal agreements with Juventus. After a last conversation with coach Luis Enrique, the premiership had taken the player from the chaotic Calcio. Then it was just a matter of waiting for Chile's world cup campaign to come to an end and let the player visit Santiago for a couple of days.

Arsenal has not joked around in this operation. As soon as the 'wonderkid' let Arsenal open negotiations with Barça for the player's future, Richard Law came into play. Within a week, the executive had set all the bases for the transfer to go through without any delays or last minute negotiations. Arsène Wenger's wish, once again will become a reality. The Frenchman's ability to seduce players is everlasting.
So apparently Roma are after Shaqiri, but aren't to keen on paying Bayern's €20m asking price.
Dick Law is a great name

Alvaro Morata is set to sign for Juve for €22m on a 4 year deal, with a option of a fifth. Apparently Real will have a buy-back option of around €30m-€33m.

Juve have also sold Vucinic to Al Jazira for around €6m.

Didn't that turn out to be bullshit started by Eurosport and there was no mention of it in any Spanish media?

(The Utd move, not him leaving Real)

Yes and no.

It started off that way but AS were tweeting on their English account saying we were interested, the other stuff were all from other Spanish journos direct rather than the Eurosport round up.

Mitten's reasonably reliable and reckons our targets for the rest of the window are Di Maria, Vidal and Hummels.
Honestly can't see where United are getting this money to spend. Let alone spending it basically on all attacking players when their defence is horrible, more so now that they've also lost Evra, Rio and Vidic. Big risk if they don't produce and miss out on the Champions League again (which they shouldn't).

At this rate with the players purchased and being linked with, you'd have to be looking at around £150m being spent.

Sponsorship deals.

I explained this on here the other day, but we've got shit tonnes, iirc our FFP outlook suggests we could spend £300m this summer and still be in compliance when/if we come back into the Champions League.

But yeah, we're not really spending on attacking players at all. We've signed a midfielder and a defender, and are being most seriously linked to a midfielder, a centre-back and a winger. I'd argue we need a winger with genuine pace more than anything else, our options there are horrid.

What, you're surprised that United have money? Really?
Sponsorship deals.

It would't be all put into a transfer fund, at least you wouldn't imagine it to be. Some of that would be set aside of wages, signing on bonuses and other similar things too.

Well duh.

There's just a lot of it to go around.

That might be the case, but you wouldn't think they'd risk spending it all in one window and leave it all resting on getting it right. If they don't and for wherever reason Man Utd don't make the CL again (which I personally doubt) then it would cause a bit of an issue.

Morata is shit though

I've never seen him play outside of a few CL cameos. Don't really follow La Liga.

What, you're surprised that United have money? Really?

No. Just the amount they're seemingly willing to spend given their situation.
It's precisely because of the situation we're willing to spend so big.
It's precisely because of the situation we're willing to spend so big.

Exactly. The club is undergoing a generation change, can't risk missing out on the CL again and the conditions that allowed United to secure players at favourable fees in the past don't exist any more.
It's precisely because of the situation we're willing to spend so big.

No shit. But you'd think those running the club wouldn't be stupid enough to put all their eggs into one basket though. Just incase everything doesn't go accord to plan.

£60m has effectively been spent already without really strengthening the squad in an overall capacity. You look at the defence and it's definitely going to require more than just one more signing to really stack up.
Well they're not. Even if we spent all the cash in the club, which we aren't, but even if we did, with the new shirt sponsorship deal (-CL football prize money) we'd still have around £110m in cash generated between this season and next transfer window.

The club is in an incredibly healthy financial situation these days, the dark days of the Glazers early reign are over.
What, you're surprised that United have money? Really?

He probably thinks all money comes from oil.

[/cheapdig]
Man Utd are the biggest club in England by some distance, of course they have money ffs
Apparently we've told Arsenal we want 10m instead of 8m for Debuchy which has meant negotiations have stalled.
I'm expecting both to be announced tomorrow to coincide with the kit launch tbh. Ornstein said that Alexis deal is nearly done anyway (even his barber said he's leaving Barca and said goodbye!)

Source?

I'm sure we'll reach an agreement either way.

Sanchez won't be announced until Barcelona confirm the signing of Suarez.
tbf ive been hearing 10m all along then it went to 8 yesterday.

I've heard now from various sources (shields gazette, chronicle, twitter, sky sports) that it will be 10m rising to 12m if you qualify for the Champions League.

FUCKING YES - New deal for Hugo

Hugo Lloris signed a new 5 year deal. That should mean he's going nowhere this summer.

Just means that whoever does want him (PSG) will have to pay more to buy him this summer. Contracts dont mean shit in football now.

Alexis fucking Sanchez.
I do hope he drops by the kit launch as a surprise.

Will be waking up for that too, can't be worse than the semi considering there isn't actually any football to be played
