As you may know, the FIFA Investigatory Committee came with its report today and said that Qatar and Russia did nothing wrong, but England and Australia did wrong, and England apparently "damaged FIFA's image". As if it had an image to tarnish.

Just now, Michael Garcia, who helmed the investigation, said he does not agree with this version of events and is appealing it.

This is going to rumble on and on. And at this rate, Qatar is still probably going to host it despite being a baking hot city built on the backs of thousands of slaves. Terrific.

Hahaha, FIFA are a joke.

Their own investigator has said they've misrepresented his investigation. Farcical. You couldn't make it up.
This headline should just read "FIFA declare FIFA innocent." It's essentially a criminal denying guilt as you'd expect, the fact that Garcia is refuting it proves the farce that they've become
Fifa report giving Qatar World Cup 2022 go ahead stinks and allows sordid show to go on, but FA are not blameless

Fifa’s report published on Thursday admits certain unethical “occurrences” by bidders but says that “the effect of these occurrences on the bidding process as a whole were far from reaching any threshold that would require returning to the bidding process, let alone re-opening it”. Threshold? How can there be a threshold on corruption? There should be zero-tolerance on corruption, not some grey area where corruption is acceptable before the “threshold” is reached. The word “threshold” damns Fifa.
I hate seeing how corrupt some sports governing bodies are. Football and Cricket my main sports are so corrupt at the top. If you think FIFA is bad, the ICC (cricket) are even more frustrating.
It's pretty inevitable in fairness when 80% of countries don't really see corruption as a problem.

And the alternative of having football governed exclusively by England/France/Germany/USA etc. isn't too appealing either.

You mean the BCCI are more frustrating lol, they practically control the ICC because they know if they pull India out of any tours the loss of money for the host nation and the ICC would kill the sport.
Yeah pretty much all the bids had levels of corruption involved, just came down to who was better at it. We personally hired some dude who was so dodgy even FIFA had previously wiped there hands of him.

Still absolutely ridiculous and saddening that QATAR are getting away with driving thousands of pretty much slave workers to their deaths though.

Yeah the BCCI is essentially ICC, which is ridiculous. Makes me hate the IPL and the Indian national team.

Well yeah, because it has the most money in the game and the largest interested following. Its not surprising really, and probably better than the days when the ICC was called the Imperial Cricket Board and run as the name implies.

My main annoyance is the way the money is distributed. The 'big 3' of India, Aus and England all get massive amount of money compared to the smaller nations. If it continues like so, will completely ruin cricket.

I guess time will tell in regards to that. The big 3 changes were made on the provision of more money being given to the smaller test playing nations and associates (and India, who have felt that they don't get enough cash compared to what they bring in to the game) whether that will come to fruition is hard to know.

What really irks me is the ICCs longstanding stance on Associates which is stagnating the development of the game and lack of support for it in emerging markets such as America. As well as the lack of action against what is clearly becoming a ridiculous situation in regards to boundary and bat sizes and the no policy on DRS, at least chucking is getting sorted now; its 15 years too late, but at least its happened.
Reading this thread just makes me appreciate the fine work of the IIHF even more.

But again with regards to the chucking bans, how are no Indians getting called for it? Its clear that just before the world cup they are trying to weaken their opposition. No way should some of the Indian bowlers be getting away with it if you are clamping down on those from other nations. I agree the balance of bat v ball has gone too far in favour of batsmen. So maybe allowing extra margin of degree when bowling would benefit ball v bat, rather than just banning all the best spin bowlers. Fully agree with the Associates part aswell. Its all greed and selfishness, much like FIFA.
This popped up on my twitter feed:

FIFA deregulates football agent rules, ends licensing system.

They just keep making things worse and worse.
Coulda sworn they did that at least a year ago.
