That was clearly a leg breaking challenge, look at his trailing leg ffs

You mean when his knee knocks into Valencia's leg?
if his leg was planted it could potentially have done a lot of damage. I think Valencia's reaction was more down to the fact its completely idiotic to go in like that in a friendly a week before a world cup. Even more so when there was little reason to make the challenge, add to that hes already had his leg snapped by a similar challenge in a similar position. Was a stupid reaction from Valencia but completely understandable.

How can it be a stupid reaction yet understandable?
Why can't it be?
Sterling is a flowerman. Ridiculous tackle to do in a friendly.

Jack can't help but pipe up can he, looks like he's always ready for a scrap.

Must be the generous lines he was doing a couple of years back.
Because reacting like that in general is obviously daft and asking for a red card, but I can also understand from his point of view why he might of reacted like that. Empathy is not a complicated concept

Because you cant say something is stupid and then understandable, its either one or the other. If its understandable then quite clearly you don't think its a stupid reaction.
Are you serious?

It was a stupid reaction, but you can understand why, in the heat of the moment, he reacted like that.

I'm genuinely confused if you don't think that's logically possible.
Well just cut out sliding tackles all together cause they all could be a leg breaker then
The overreaction to this is ridiculous and because its a 'friendly' makes absolutely no difference, in fact it isn't just a friendly its an opportunity for players to get into the starting 11 for the World Cup. So i completely expect them to be 100% committed to any challenge they make, regardless of the opposition or even the importance of the match for that matter. Guess it depends on how you play/view the game, but for me there was never any such thing as a friendly, you play every game to win, not worry about injuring the opposition ffs.

People are calling it reckless and leg breaker but bollocks to that. The way Valencia was standing, any sort of sliding tackle could have broke his leg had he not lifted it, so I dont see the point. Sterling was a little late, but it wasnt even that bad tackle

Except not all slide tackles are lunges with both feet in the air, are they?

It's reckless, he's got both feet off the ground and brings his trailing leg in after getting something on the ball. Had Valencia not moved he'd probably have a broken leg. Ryan Shawcross was a little late once as was Martin Taylor, look what happened there.
Hardly a lunge, and I dont see what his trailing leg has to do with all this

Sterling brings his trailing right leg right through and that's the one that makes most of the contact with Valencia.

45 seconds into the video.

In fairness to him all the screen grabs going about that have been saying it was a horrible challenge are focused on his front foot rather than the trailing leg.

Those screengrabs are shite, that's the foot he gets the ball with. The video makes it much clearer that the trailing leg is swept in to make it a 2 footed (sort of) challenge

The speed of the lunge is enough to properly hurt.

I'll see you
It's shin vs shin ffs and someone tried to compare it to the Eduardo challenge lol

Yeah the Eduardo challenge was late and so was this one the only difference being the ending wasn't as bad.
You are mental if you think the Eduardo foul and this were in anyway similar

Similar in the fact that they're both late.

EDIT: Not exactly sure what's so hard to understand about that.

Go and re watch the Eduardo one, the two are nothing alike
The Eduardo tackle was a result of a shit player with an extremely shit tackle with the mentality to rough 'em up a bit. This is no way similar, Sterling's intentions weren't to injure, it was just reckless and an inexperienced thing to do. You can't even compare it to dumbfuck Shawcross's tackle on Ramsey, this is fairly innocuous compared to that.

Still cracks me up when Stoke fans tried claiming Ramsey broke his own leg.
Sterling's tackle was a yellow card.

He never has both feet off the ground.
