Discussion
Just subscribed to get hassle free downloads and its showing me as 2 hours to download 7gb.

That is woeful and certainly not worth the £10.
Piss off. 2 hours to download 7GB is perfectly reasonable.
It depends on alot of factors both at our end at your end. It can also be the case that browsers are not accurate with their initial estimation.

With 7gb taking 2 hours would mean an average speed of about 8Mbps. Realistically 2 hours is too round a figure (and is just an estimate) and we may be talking about 1 hour 45 which would be in line with 10Mbps speed which is common in Britain.

Without more info it's difficult to say more, but I would expect 7GB to take a little over an hour for most people. Yes that's a long time, but it's a big file, hence why it costs so much for us to offer it.
I am on 152mb fibre and I easily get that full download speed 24/7, I download HD 3D movies at 25gb in far less time.

2 hours for 7gb is terrible and a rip off. I could do it quicker using the multiple parts from the other services.,

You sell your subscription on being able to download fast, 10mbs is not fast. £10 to take 2 hours to download a file is extortionate.

Honestly i've done the research and i'm afraid I have no idea what else to tell you. There are of course faster alternatives, when we tried Amazon AWS the speed was incredible, but it cost £700 in 3 days. I think you'll agree £230 a day to run this fansite would be ridiculous. In order to break even we provide the best performance and resources we can.

If you can do the research and find a better, faster and more cost effective host then by all means point me in their direction, we would do anything to improve the service. But from the research i've done, we offer the best service possible.

Also the point about 25gb HD movies, that means nothing without context, is that torrent, itunes, what?
If you run ethernet cables, then you will get the full speed. I'm on the 152 MB package from Virgin, on wireless I get around 50 MB, on ethernet I was always getting around 160/170 MB, so my downloads were done in quick time. Wireless downloads will take a lot longer, and also if there is a lot of traffic around you when downloading that can affect the download speed.
I have a weird issue with all your downloads. A few seconds after the download starts i get a "network error" message. i have down 26mbps and up 10mbps. this is the case for ALL downloads.
any solution?
to be more precise, i tried to download the latest data updates but the problem occurs also with skins and packs

Yeah you gotta go fibre optic if you can guys,those old copper wires aint gonna give you the speeds. I'm on Virgin too and it flies !!
I spent 7 hours trying to download the cutout facepack and it eventually timed out. I paid for the premium as well and feel like i tossed that money away. I'm trying again and it says 22hours to download. For the record i'm on 50mbs service and have no issues with anything else. While i appreciate all the effort all the megapack makers do to provide them, it sucks that you have to pay for a crappy download.
Unfortunately, the site owner and administrator has just left on holiday till the week after next, so he cannot answer you directly. I'm sorry you had the issue, but it's possible that the issue is your end or with your ISP. For all I know, it could also be a problem with our servers. Without having access to behind the scenes, it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what the issue is.

May I suggest that you retry downloading the file again at some point in the near future, perhaps the issue'll have sorted itself out by then.

Can you give more information? A screenshot of your download page would be helpful and leaving it for 5 minutes to see if the speed picks up compared to the very first speed mentioned.
Ive never had any issues whatsoever with downloads,and i dont even have virgin media either!!! Sometimes u have to leave it for a few minutes to gather pace.

1) What browser are you using?
2) What server was used (it will be listed as server1, server2, or premium on your browsers downloads page)
2) What internet provider are you with?
3) How long did it actually take, if you left it for half an hour how much was completed?
Speeds ok for me.
