Tactics Question

This may sound a bit of a stupid question, but does the computer change it's tactics to suit playing against your tactic? Because I have been using this 4-4-2 tactic, and won the treble with Sporting CP in my first season, but I have just started my second season, and it seems all the teams are playing defensive counter attacking football, which sounds like the obvious thing for them to do, however, they're all doing it, and it's working, as I have just been smashed 5-1 by Benfica, despite having more clear cut chances and shots etc. I don't know whether to change the tactic that served me so well last season, or change it again, and risk not being as good..

It may not be a new addition to the game, but I haven't noticed it as much as I do in this version
