Thanks BajaHater

Do you reckon I could do requests etc if they're done to that standard?
If you ask me,you're ready, but at first you should take easier requests from improvement and missing thread. After some "experience",you can take team requests... Welcome mate

I think they are generally very good cuts although the background needs to be cleaned up. That's a very easy thing to fix though and the overall quality seems very good to me. Check the spoiler to see what I mean.

Yeah I'll continue to work on my technique BajaHater. But thanks for pointing that out Jubez, I did a little inspection of the cut-out at the end but obviously not close enough, hopefully I can iron out these little errors and become a pro like you guys The only thing I'm not quite sure on is adjusting a cut-outs face if the head is at an angle like the image below, any advice/ tips you could give me? Also how would I go about cleaning the background up Jubez so I don't get that fuzz? When I check against a black background I can't see anything.

I made an attempt at adjusting the image above so that it's not at an angle... I think I did alright?

It's tilted to the right a little. Not much but a little. It's also not centered, but those are easy things to fix. The background is clean now though and overall it looks excellent. Welcome to the board!

Right I think I've sorted the problems you mentioned...

Edit: Image Removed

Hopefully I got it right this time. Once again thanks Jubez and it's good to be of help (soon)

It's still not centered though. The left ear should be as far from the left edge as the right ear is from the right edge. In some cases with a big hair or something similar it might be better to center it based on something else, but that's a good general rule.

Ah I see, I was just using "align with horizontal centre" in Photoshop.

Better?

That looks good to me. Something I would personally do would be rotating his right shoulder a little as it looks a bit odd to my eyes. So something like this:
http://s25.postimg.org/s7f4c7vp7/61069538_1.png

What I did was that I just cut the shoulder off, rotated it a little and then put it a pixel or two under the main layer. I also improved the contrast a little and changed the color of his shoulders to match the neck since it looked weird after relocating his shoulder.

That's not really necessary though, but something I would personally do since it looks better to me.

Yeah that certainly is an improvement on mine, you can tell who the pro is I'll be finishing the rest of the Dundee United teampack requested by tv_capper so hopefully you'll check out my progress once I've released it. I really appreciate all the help Jubez

These are my first actual cut outs , any thoughts? I know the first one is not that good, I could not find a better image.

Found a better picture of Kevin, plus many other pictures of other youngsters (The only problem with these pictures is that they were taken 4 years ago)

Apologies with the delay in replying. There's not much wrong with any of those cuts, however it would be preferable (wherever possible, obviously) to chose a forward-facing recent image. On a purely cutting-technique level, they're perfectly fine, though

Thanks mons , I've been trying to find better pictures but it seems like teams in Ecuador don't take pictures of their players .
I know the feeling; finding decent cuttable sources for players not at top clubs is always difficult...
Someone could check if these faces are ok for the MP?

Hi there, thanks for that. There's some good cuts in there which will definitely make it into the MP.

There's some images, however, who have a fair amount of snow. Do take the time to view the cut in full-screen mode and on a black or transparent background - this will display the snow much better. Jubez's post is a very simple and visual description of what I mean. It's really quite simple to fix, as indicated in my post, a matter of seconds mostly.

Another thing to keep in mind in cases where there is an MP image already is to chose sources which are really improvements. Some of the images in the improvement folder may be more recent, but they are not looking straight-on at the camera and the lighting is really poor. In cases like this, no matter how good the cut, then it won't replace the existing MP images.

Finally, do try to make sure you include a bit of collar, to avoid the chicken-neck effect.

That being said, I look forward to seeing you improve your technique in the future with a few more packs Don't give up, it's really easy to get the hang of it
Thanks for the response mons.

Yeah, I noticed the snow when I opened the game ... I'll check that video tutorial. About the 'chicken-neck'. Well, I added a small part of shirt to some of them, but I'm lazy, and I didn't do that with all.

And yes, some of them aren't good pics, but I uploaded them just in case.

Thanks again for your time and definitely I'll try to improve to help.
First cut out using Adobe Photoshop rafine edge

Not bad, but try to look at the cut on a dark background, it will throw up any snow. Have a look at this post to see how you can fix that.

Have you tried to use Vertus? There's a very practical tutorial here.

If you prefer to refine your Refine Edge technique, have a look at pacouk's pictorial tutorial from here onwards.

Hope this helps

I fixed the snow
Vertus me a lot harder...

That is very good indeed. Just one issue, there's a bit too much space between the top of the head/hair and the edge of the cutout. Ideally, there's no more than 1-2 pixels...
any1 know how to flip only 1 layer at a time in gimp. its flipping both layers when im trying to fix a shirt. i cant get the hang of this gimp thing so I can get back to cutting facepacks. took me 2hours to do 1 image! I really miss photoshop
You could always find a torrent for photoshop, I use a portable version of CS6 no install required just sits on the desktop.

Its abit rough around the edges and some snow on it.

Lock the image using the Lock Alpha Layer button in Layers panel. then use clone stamp to colour the bits of hair you missed. Set the opacity to 38% hold CTRL as you select a bit to copy.

use the select tool to crop out any white and view it against black and white backgrounds by creating new layers. one with foreground colour and the other with background. then put that layer behind the main image. i sometimes lock the layer and use smudge tool to drag colours at the edge of the face to the edge if i have snow there but I dont do that with hair.

Try to centre the image by putting the crosshairs between his eyes and check the box width pixels are the same size. try to get a big head and face by leaving a pixel at the top and a few below his chin when you crop it. and also if the shoulders rise above the corners of the box after you crop it then use the rubber so it finishes at the edge.

hope this helps
