Custom Start Date with Data Updates

Good morning all
Am I right in thinking that we are unable to apply both a "Custom Start Date" with the latest "Transfer Data Update"???

It is possible, however the 17/18 season is simulated with the newly promoted/relegated teams, thus meaning that when you start your first season (18/19) some teams will have already played the 17/18 season with this years players resulting in promotions and relegation. I do not know of a way how to start the 18/19 season without simming the 17/18 season. If any of this makes sense.
