My female companion is big into ambience. Benn Jordan, Brian Eno and Aphex Twin are probably the best bets. As well as Sigur Rós obviously. Selected Ambient Works Vol 2 by Aphex Twin is pretty immense. Rhubarb in particular. I'd also recommend looking at Pale Blue Dot by Benn Jordan. It's one of the most perfect albums I've heard.

Here's Rhubarb though.
