Your cut wasn't bad at all, you just needed to darken some areas. Anyway, I cut it again and here's my final result (I didn't overdo with the brightness, otherwise his left cheek would have been "burned" ).

@mons Feel free to replace the existing version with this one, if you think that's the case.
I agree with @Ernesttico, there wasn't much wrong with your original cut @Cizzu, but I think the newer cut is slightly better
