Did Corbyn do anything? He seems to have done absolutely nothing to stopping the North leaving

You could say the same about his entire leadership tbf.

I don't think I have felt as poisonous, venomous or angry about anything political in years. And my social media is full of people telling me to calm down, to develop perspective, to accept the result... frankly, these clueless cunts can and should fuck off.

C'mon mate that was bad - are you really suggesting that the UK isn't a democracy?

Are you suggesting that it is?

...
This referendum will become a textbook example of why referendums are a terrible idea in the future.

Yeah. Scotland's was a bit of a shitshow all round but this is next level.

I've heard Sinn Fein suggesting that they might push for a referendum on leaving the UK and rejoining the Republic of Ireland. Bet that will only go well.

I have absolutely no idea whose winning. I'm also not bold enough to predict, given I genuinely thought Scotland would vote to leave in 2014, and that we'd get a Labour-lead coalition after last year's election, and never expected Trump to go far, so predicting seems like a fallacy. Also doesn't help the opinion polls are utterly incoherent - and I used to work for one of them, so I really feel like they're bollocks - and both campaigns have been utterly hateworthy.

I'm voting Remain - Leave lost me weeks ago.

I agree its a bit repetitive at times but I do find the stories interesting, the main protagonist likeable and enjoy enough of it to keep me going. I think The Last of Us is the best Naughty Dog game, but they're still very good.

I'm aware there's a few things different for Uncharted 4 - it looks like a different world entirely, and there appear to be a few things removed from it. But we'll see how it is when and if I can be arsed to get it.

Doesn't seem like something that will abate any time soon - there's a fair few articles online mentioning that the Croatian FA and fans currently hate one another, and a rumour has been circulating their fans were planning something like this to get them fined.

I swear it was mentioned somewhere Liverpool might have to swap venues for their game with Burnley to it being a Burnley home game, as Liverpool's new stand won't be finished in time.
It's days like today you realise you're not a Premier League club for at least a season.

Yeah.

Whose idea was it to put the FL fixtures out next week?

Thinking about it, a lot of the attacking players for England are through the middle, and only Sterling - whose form has fallen off a cliff - is a natural wideman. So someone has to be shoehorned into that role. I thought Lallana was the obvious option, and he wasn't terrible, but his finishing was. Milner is too defensive now, Rooney, Vardy, Sturridge and Alli all look more comfortable in the middle, and Henderson and Wilshere feels like an experiment too far.

I don't know what the obvious fix is, really. Ordinarily I'd say its changing the formation, but the players look better suited to something like a 4-3-3.

Also, this goes without saying, but Kane on corners? Really?
Not underwhelmed, but I guess being older and having more 'responsibility' as an adult I've maybe not got caught up in the buzz surrounding a big tournament. I've also just started a new job on Tuesday, so I won't be able to watch as many games as I could have before.

Ireland to win it though

I kinda get that, but not out of being older as I was pretty excited for the World Cup, even despite all the bollocks before it.

Certainly, England v Wales at 2pm... fuck's sake. That's the game I was hoping to see, if only as I have been saying for months I think someone shit like Simon Church will score a winner for Wales in that game.

Its not been helped by how bizarrely violent its been. Hopefully UEFA will do more than fine the Russians for last night's behaviour.
Also the English commentary that was on the feed I watched was so full of entitlement it was beyond a joke.

If that was ITV then that's par for the course. They have such appalling commentators.

Welsh game was really good between two teams who looked promising. England really should've won, and looked promising, then fucked it up again.

Makes Thursday even more interesting. Despite the fact everyone's gonna be at work.

Yeah... its a fucking shame.

We've been away on our first game for years IIRC. June 17th is when the official fixtures come out I think.

That's what I thought but apparently that was the date last season's came out. Oddly, the Football League's come out a week after the Premier League's, which are due out June 15th.

Saw the two main X-Men trilogies in the last week. X-Men was good, X2 was excellent, The Last Stand was crap, First Class was very good, Days of Future Past was good, if flawed, and Apocalypse was entertaining but messy and made very little sense.

I still prefer Newcastle kits with more black than white though. Dunno why, just do.

We're dragging this Rafa thing out a bit aren't we?

We dragged out appointing him, sacking McClaren, appointing the Yarm Donald Trump, sacking Carver, confirming Carver as Pardew's replacement, and confirming JFK in the DoF role. I'm used to it by now.

1-0 Hull is my prediction.

Would probably rather Sheff Weds get promoted though, only because it's somebody different in the PL.

Both, tbh - would rather SWFC went up, but think Hull probably will.

I think the whole thing with 2009 was less the unfortunate health issues JFK suffered - although his loss was a bow as he would've kept us up that year IMO - and more the fact that an inexperienced Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood were left to struggle solo for 2 months while the suggestion that Kinnear may or may not return was not really solved. Don't know if they received a prognosis or not, but there was an unwillingness to commit.

Maybe it was a case of dithering then, but this season was a worse example of dithering. It might have been better for Benitez to be appointed during La Manga, as that would've given him around 2 weeks to get familiar with the team on neutral territory, plus a friendly with some Norway-based team and games against Stoke and Bournemouth would've been an easier baptism/interlude to find a system and players that worked then games with the eventual champions and a pair of six-pointers.

8 games may well have not been enough in 2009, but I'd say the position was more favourable then. That year, we went down by one point despite being ahead with two games to go, given a pair of winnable fixtures, and with a better GD. In comparison, we always had an inferior GD, and Sunderland only lost two of their last 13 (that being to West Ham and Leicester). I agree we should've got more than 2 points than we got from the Sunderland/Norwich/Villa trio, but it feels as much like those 2 wasted games at the Britannia and against the Cherries while McClaren was in a full dead rubber place cost us badly.

Although then again, you could say the same about Bobby Madley giving Sunderland a cheap penalty that Adam Johnson scored and handing Coloccini an incorrect red. And yes I know its the domain of the sore fucking loser to lament that incident from 7 months ago, but damn it why the fuck not?

I'd say the worst case of too little time was Norwich in 2013/14, given they sacked Hughton months after it became apparent they couldn't score for shit, and gave Neil Adams five games to keep them up (a six pointer with a Fulham team they never seem able to beat, then Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal)

As for Benitez staying, I still remain thinking he won't, but we'll see. Early signs are good at least.

OOHH, Jimmy Carr's coming to Singapore, not sure if it's worth playing >$100 to shout at him about his taxes though...

Saw him in 2013. The entire first 15 minutes were about taxes. So its not as if it isn't anything he's done before.

Probably sums up Brighton's luck that they had 27 shots but could only score one, and Wednesday duly levelled with a fluke.

Still, although I thought the Seagulls would do it, I've felt for a while that Wednesday would be dark horses for promotion this season or the next one. Clearly, we're a step closer to seeing if such a thought held water. Even despite the fact they inexplicably lost games to MK Dons, Bristol City, Rotherham and Charlton in the regular season.

I think the second tweet makes it clearer that they don't want to guess at motivations. Whether it was a hoax or whether it was a genuine attempt to kill people its a relief to know that it would not have worked.

This is true. I guess all we can do await to see what the official investigation into this reveals, and what the motivations of the person who left it there were.

Maybe that'll stop the bizarre quantity of jokes into all this, which were going on live during the initial evacuation of the ground. Or not.
