Really impressed with Demarai Gray - looks very mature and good for a young player signed for not a lot.

Confusing why clubs seemed not fussed in the slightest in him Nathan Redmond and Dele Alli.

Redmond is a player I would've liked at NUFC before Norwich bought him in 2013. Can't remember how many were in for him though, but surprised nobody bought him when Norwich got demoted last time, although I would imagine this time, he'll have a suitor. Alli was courted by a load of clubs - Chelsea apparently turned him down as too similar to Loftus-Cheek, while Liverpool walked away and a Newcastle bid fell through. There was also talk of a European club buying him at one point, although given what happened to Dale Jennings (good games at Tranmere, signed by Bayern, never played, last seen being kicked out of MK Dons for being too fat), probably just as well that didn't happen.

Not sure about Gray, but yeah, young player, signed real cheap, and Leicester have got a great option long-term in him.

Maybe we should know better than to rely on Arsenal for favours. Which means Norwich are going to win at the Emirates next week.

I feel like everyone forgets the lad is 22 years old I know he was a big transfer and everything but his goalscoring record is impressive no matter how many "sitters" he's missed

Don't get me wrong - in all competitions he's scored 45 goals in just under 2 seasons for a side that looks set to finish in midtable in both. That's really impressive. But at the same time, this perception still sits I guess.

not getting the service? he had loads of chances today, if everton are struggling to create chances in the league he is partly responsible for his inability to hold the ball up due to his poor touch...

I swear whenever I watch Everton Lukaku scores one after missing 3/4 sitters.

Well, a draw is what I was hoping for and what I got. Means nothing if we can't beat Palace & Villa though.

Not sure what to make of today - our historically poor record at Anfield and the more immediate issue of our fucking woeful away form means I'd take a draw, but we need a win, we've shown improvements this week, Steve McClaren somehow beat them in December and hopefully Jurgen will be playing the kids with one eye on Villarreal.

So... dunno.

Two North West teams playing a Semi Final at Wembley on a Saturday, the same day as Network Rail is doing maintenance work and the same weekend as the London Marathon.

Nice job FA.

Not very well thought out, that one, no?

So, Ched Evans' case will now have a second trial after the appeal process ruled as such.

If there's sufficient grounds for a re-trial, fine, but its a fucking ugly state of affairs that people are already using it to spout misogyny, victim blaming and presumptively declaring him innocent in their thousands.

Its of great dissatisfaction that McClaren treated Everton like Barcelona. Twice.

How is John Stones a £50M-rated CB?

There's been more than a few Everton fans calling for Martnez's head - more performances like this and surely they'll reciprocate.
That is true and I believe you've won something like 3 in a row at WHL now, but we've also won 4-0 and 3-1 on our last couple of visits to SJP

Touche.

I'm still hopeful Leicester win it in advance but Spurs have 2nd secured so they have less incentive to beat us on the final day and it increases our fighting chance of a win to stay up. Though saying that, we beat them at WHL in December with Steve McClaren in charge and Gouffran on the pitch. So...

Not a bad result but ideally needed all three. Nevertheless, decent point. Hopefully we can continue this at Anfield on Saturday.

Dunno how to feel tonight - if we play a more confident game, we could give MCFC some problems and maybe even get that first win over them at SJP in a decade plus. If we play like we normally do, we're getting creamed.

Our last game is at Newcastle, its all set up for Townsend to score the winner to save them from relegation any deny us the title.

Seeing as Dele Alli turned us down to move to WHL, I'd say its all set for him to score a hat-trick and send us down.

How on Earth did Steve McClaren lead Newcastle to a win at White Hart Lane?

Indeed. But generous of Stoke to play without defenders and let Spurs have another free crack.

Saw one Villa fan on Twitter saying "Change Rotherham to Rochdale on that banner for this time next year".

Doubt they'll have that bad a year next season, but they don't strike me as likely to come straight back up.
Does anybody actually like Jamie Vardy?

Leicester fans and his wife?

Beyond that... eh. Do we reckon an extra game ban is likely now this FA charge is official?

Is that true?

Fuck me.

Surprisingly. Newcastle have scored 25 home goals this season - more than Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, and only 3 less than Leicester.

Away from home, on the other hand... just 10 goals. Worse than every other club in the top 4 tiers, according to soccerstats. I mean, I know we're shit away, but blimey that's a whole new level.

Horrendous refereeing. For both teams.

Essentially.
Liverpool grab a 2-1 win, 2-0 up and coasting and still trying to blow it late on.

Be interesting to see how Leicester are without Vardy the next game or two.

Just the one'r, which is Swansea next Sunday.

Kouyate header hitting both posts and not going in pretty much sums the luck the Foxes be having, nevermind Leicester now leading through a very good quality counter-attack.
Lescott describing relegation as a "weight off the shoulders", what a twat. Then goes on to say "we can give these fans what they deserve, some performances". He obviously isn't very intelligent is he? That's like saying we've achieved relegation, now its time to try and win.

Boyhood Villa fan, my arse. There's been some overpaid, clueless morons in that team this season, and with words like that, he's establishing himself as pretty high up that chain. If I was a Villa fan, I'd be demanding should be dropped and never seen wearing an AVFC top again.

Still, he's got a new car.

With any luck Man City will go back to their usual pattern for Tuesday night.
Benitez got his tactics spot on today - Tiote was very good - Colback was excellent back in his best position - Wijnaldum and Sissoko were much improved - and thankfully Shelveywas fucked off.

Luckily survived Shelvey coming on and being absolutely shite. - hopefully he'll get a tree match ban.

To be fair, I guess it was easy pre-match to read the teamsheet think "WTF is this?". But it sounds like the selection worked enough to get the points over the line, and at least we got Sissoko playing like a professional footballer for once. So can't say fairer than that.

I think you might disappointed on Shelvey though - he'll start at least 2 more games before the end of the season.

So, keeps things alive.

Norwich getting hammered does give Newcastle hope.

A teamsheet today with Anita at right-back, a Tiote/Colback deep-lying midfield, Sissoko captain and Cisse over both Mitrovic & Perez (even if both were crap at Southampton last week), by contrast... less so.

Interesting that the jury has rejected parts of Pardew, Charnley and Carver's evidence as lacking credibility. Charnley reluctant to acknowledge Gutierrez played in the World Cup and that he was a regular for the Argentina team before his diagnosis is particularly groan inducing.

I think it is interesting the Sports Direct thing may well kick in if we get demoted, and thus help us slightly cheat FFP regulations in the Championship. Not that I'm going to dispute that its way overdue regardless of tier.

Half-right - HBA was out of contract that summer anyway, so whether or not he completed that Hull loan, he still would've left.

Maybe its easy to over-romanticise Ben Arfa, and all the frustrations that come with the injuries, arguments and hasty exit, but he looked more often like he wanted to play than some of the other feckless cretins currently wearing black and white tops.

Meanwhile, Steven Taylor is apparently going to be banished following his appalling display at Southampton and contract allowed to expire. Always tempting to think what might've been, but he often appears in our lowest ebbs.
