@terriersmad Don't Bolton have about 6 players in their squad though, half of which are goalies! As a Blackpool fan it is hard to sympathise with two of our rivals, especially when there was a staunch section of Bury fans wishing our demise! However, no club deserves to be so poorly mismanaged. I think the EFL should bring in the German models of ownership where the fans play a more integral role. Of course the Premiership clubs would never agree to it but from League 1 downwards I don't see why not. As you say, I can see a few clubs falling in the next few seasons - may be even a cluster of them together. It's sad to say it is probably what it will take before those useless parasites on the EFL board do something. They were of no help to us.

Hope for Bolton, not so much for Bury. Which is strange given Bolton have debts of around £40mill whereas Bury is more in the £8mill region

https://www.efl.com/news/2019/july/efl-statement-bolton-wanderers-and-bury-fc2 ;

BOLTON WANDERERS

At its meeting today, the EFL Board was appraised of the position in regard to the outstanding information requested in respect of ongoing matters at Bolton Wanderers.

The Board has fully considered the Club’s further submissions and is satisfied that they are sufficient to meet the requirements of the League subject to the completion of formal documentation.

As a result the EFL Board has opted not to suspend their opening day fixture with Wycombe Wanderers and it will remain as originally scheduled on Saturday 3 August 2019 at 3pm.

BURY

Following continued and comprehensive discussions with the ownership at Bury and other interested parties throughout Monday, the EFL Board is not satisfied it has received the necessary evidence in regard to the outstanding information it requires that demonstrates how the Club will be funded moving forwards.

As a result of not meeting Monday’s 5pm deadline, which had been extended on two previous occasions, the EFL Board feels it has been placed in an unenviable position and, regrettably, has opted to take the reluctant decision to suspend Saturday’s opening day fixture with MK Dons under the provision of EFL Regulation 28.2.

In addition, the EFL Board, if not in possession of the necessary evidence by 12pm on Friday 2 August 2019, will make a determination as to whether to suspend Bury’s away fixture at Accrington Stanley on Saturday 10 August 2019.

As has been the case throughout this entire process, the EFL will continue to offer its full assistance to the ownership at Bury, but remains clear that while the League is here to support the Club through some extremely complex and complicated issues, the outstanding matters can only be resolved with the cooperation from the Club itself.

As I thought, FA regulations clearly state a playing kit is only permitted to have "one single area not exceeding 250 square centimetres on the front of the shirt".

Confirmed to be a spoof now anyway,

Well, as @davysrfc probably watched, Dundalk took their game against Riga all the way to penalties and won 5-4! Linfield dropped down to the Europa League qualifiers as they succumbed to Rosenborg. Scotland and Wales both celebrated their teams going through, Celtic and TNS respectively.

TNS v FC Copenhagen
Celtic v Nomme Kalju (Estonian team)
Dundalk v FC Qarabag (everyone's favourite Azerbaijan team)

So, as above, couldn't watch any of the games last night. Which is a shame as there were a couple of crackers!

The biggest shock was Connah's Quay Nomads beating Kilmarnock 2-0 away from home to progress into the next round, couple of red cards in that game too! Their reward, a fixture against much tougher opposition in the guise of Partizan Belgrade. Aberdeen replicated their first leg 2-1 victory to advance and, keeping in Scotland, Ranges thrashed their Gibraltan opponents. Crusaders won a hard fought tie to take them deeper into the Europa League along with Shamrock Rovers.

Cork City won their game on the night, but lost on aggregate overall. Cliftonville crumbled on the night, and Ballymena couldn't perform the miracle they needed. St Pat's Athletic repeated their first leg game, unfortunately that was a 2-1 loss.

So, the next round of fixtures for the British and Irish teams:

HB Tórshavn v Linfield (new entrants and they play on the Tuesday, not Thursday)
Aberdeen v Chikhura Sachkhere (a Georgian team)
Connah's Quay Nomads v Partizan Belgrade
Rangers v Progrès Niederkorn (who knocked out Cork City)
Shamrock Rovers v Apollon Limassol (based in Cyprus)
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Crusaders (this one surely has to be on tv?!)

I just see Newcastle as being in a similar situation to what we were. Success will only come from have a manager like Holloway, who would win the hearts and minds of the players and the fans and enable them to play above their level (with a lot of luck thrown in too). It would be at a detriment to getting rid of Ashley though. We would have been Oyston free long before now if we hadn't been promoted to the Prem. I don't see Bruce as a manager who wins over fans or players though.

And yet oddly I didn't think of it as hideous as Stevenage's new Burger King kits.

Can someone explain to me how Steve Bruce gets so many jobs in football as his performance have steadily declined over the years yet he still somehow manages to get some very good jobs (though usually under performs).

How the fuck is he even anywhere near the Newcastle job, they're a massive club and can surely attract some very good managers. For me they have to be one of the favourites to go down now and well worth putting a fiver on them to do so.

Most of the good managers want a relationship where the chairman says yes to them, Mike Ashley wants that relationship reversed. I'm almost expecting him to start suing fans and the like...

The Irish National Broadcaster. Usually have live games available on their player.

https://www.rte.ie/player/ Can be a bit temperamental though.

Thought that they played really well and created a few chances. Pity neither team could score.

Just tried to watch some of the U19s on there, says it cannot be streamed due to rights restrictions. I guess it will be the same for these games

Yeah, just seen Aberdeen's game is on Premier Sports and of course that needs a separate subscription, I pay enough for all of these other sports channels so not gonna shell out another just for some qualifiers!

Dundalk were rather disappointing in the home leg last week. Riga stuck to their plan really well and looked a good team considering the last Latvian team I seen were Skonto playing an awful Pats team in one of the worst games I've ever had the displeasure to go to. Should be a good game now on Wednesday. Live on RTE as far as I know for those who can get it.

Back when Val invested in our club we would have preseason in Latvia, their teams are not too bad tbh!

What is RTE?

Rangers' game in Gibraltar was shown on Premier Sports 1 but I'm not sure about the second leg this Thursday, Aberdeen's trip to RoPS this Thursday is on Premier Sports.

I have Sky Sports, BT sport and the full Virgin Media packages - yet I bet I need another subscription to watch that channel?

Because it was part of a pack rather than an individual request, which is what the search function looks in.

When you do a pack you list all the IDs though, right?

Can the search be expanded to include these?

In what most thought was probably a random friendly, Rangers kicked off their European campaign last night against minnows St Joseph's away in Gibraltar. They waited until the second half to score, bagging four to make the return trip ironically nothing more than a glorified friendly for the semi-professional team.

There is a massive list of fixtures to take place on Thursday, and Rangers fans will no doubt be keeping an eye on the result in Cork City as the winner in their game against Progres Niederkorn will now undoubtedly play them. Staying in Ireland, St Pat's face off against IFK Norrkoping, Cliftonville play FK Haugesund, Crusaders welcome B36 Torshavn to their loveshack whilst Shamrock Rovers have an away day at Brann and Ballymena have a hard away fixture against Malmo FF.

Back to Scotland though, where Aberdeen have some visitors in the form of RoPS Rovaniemi whilst Kilmarnock fans get a (relatively) short trip to Wales as their team takes on Connah's Quay Nomads.

I don't know if any of these early rounds are televised though?!

Another year, another set of qualifiers that half sneak under the radar.

Celtic managed to get a first leg aggregate win over FK Sarajevo, 1-3, which should be enough to see them through the second leg and into the next round. You can never be too sure though!

TNS managed to self destruct in their game against Feronikeli, conceding in the 89th and 93rd minutes after leading the game with two goals of their own. A tricky trip to Kosovo awaits.

Riga FC and Rosenberg visit Dundalk and Linfield respectively tonight, tough fixtures for the Irish teams.

New manager now needed by Blackpool - their old boss has resigned. Slightly odd timing.

Larry is back, which is a weird one. Did get us promoted from League 1 last time, and used to do well in this league. However, left under a cloud when he wanted to go to Leeds and has hardly been that great at his more recent clubs.

Plus I can't look at him since his hair loss lol.
