He's always had the look of Teflon Mike Baldwin about him. And Boro seemed really sick of him by the end - no one will care if you talk a good game and don't deliver.

But right now I'm feeling positive towards the new season. Regardless of signings.

Not really a transfer ban and more a ban of being able to register any new players. They can still freely buy players as normal.

A piss weak punish to be fair, they should have been banned completely from being able to sign anybody, period.

This.

WE NEED TO LEAVE THE EU ASAP.

Is Bacca really that good?

He played against Newcastle a few years back and did nothing against Perch, Williamson, Tavernier, Anita & Ferguson.

Never forget that he got outshone by Sammy and Obertan.

I agree with Bird and Edwards being cunts. But I reckon if there was any hint of Sissoko going to Liverpool he would have a massive erection about it.

fwiw, Marseille seem to be doing that thing Nicollin does. "We would never sell him, not for any price", before selling him for an additional £500k. Marseille signed a couple of wingers this week, although maybe he's just replacing Ayew and Payet.

Apparently we're signing Wijnaldum today, be a good signing if true.

Probably means Sissoko is off, heard they're very similar in style?

Edwards has rubbished the Sissoko to Liverpool rumours. Would of thought we would have heard something by now if he was going to Liverpool/Arsenal/Man Utd.

That said, the other week Wijnaldum was apparently 'not a priority target' - So maybe Sissoko is away, or they've given up on Thauvin and are trying to buy Wijnaldum instead

Because he's a prick?

Careful now, down with this sort of thing.

I don't blame you. Probably difficult to hand over cash to a club that makes no effort to repay its supporters.

Newcastle are run in the same way as Spurs yee kna. Same way as Southampton and Swansea too. Fun fact Spurs have actually spent more than Newcastle once in the past five years too.

But at least at Spurs you have the lovely knowledge of giving your money to a tax exile, who made his money out of selling out the British Public.

This is my favourite thread on this forum tbh

Don't worry not long until we're all calling Wenger a senile fool, who has to go. And only 9 months until we're discussing how 'if only the season started a bit later Arsenal would be Champions' and the classic banter of the Gunnersaurus.

Was a time when every thread was as active as this one with GRIPPING discussion.

I miss the Old Firm threads. People barely ever get called Fenian Basterds in this thread

so what are your views on Blackpool fans not renewing their season tickets? Are they glory seekers?

If you genuinely can't see the difference between the Oystons and Newcastle then you are a fucking complete moron. Seriously. The Oyston's have taken millions out of the club and are clearly using it to solely benefit themselves. But yeah obviously suing the fans is equatable to not making any signings by the first week of July.....

Haha how can a Newcastle fan get called a glory seeker?

Being more interested in a club when they're doing well is Gloryseeking. No where to be seen when the club is doing badly. Then they're out of the woodwork, die hard fans who'd never miss a game.

Masochist more like, at this rate.

I still can't quite get my head around how Shola's opinion differs so much from the average Newcastle fan.

Because he's wrong 99% of the time?

And we haven't appointed anyone yet.

Rather than being incredibly fickle all the time. Santon was shite when we had him, then suddenly a great defender the minute he leaves, likewise MYM. I remember you slating him when he actually played. You wanted to sell Cabaye and replace him with James McCarthy, then have complained non-stop about a lack of creativity. You insisted that Keegan bottled it.

People still insist Pardew is a terrible manager who hates wingers in spite of the past 6 months. People stiill insist HBA is a great player, when he can't get a game for Hull. People still insist Cabaye hates Pardew, despite saying he wants to play for him again.

And yes, Newcastle have appointed Simpson, Cathro, Black and Schoenmaker - the same guys who had basically been confirmed for the past couple of weeks.

Not glory seeking - wouldn't have chosen Newcastle as the team I support if I was a glory seeker.

Just don't want to spend a hell of a lot of money when the board aren't trying to entertain me.

Yep, that's glory seeking.

There's also no confirmation on the official site of our assistant manager never mind our coaching staff.

Disgracefully ran, without a care in the world for our fans.

What are you actually talking about? Do you genuinely think that the removal of Carver and Stone is going to plunge Newcastle into crisis?

Newcastle appoint a genuinely world class coach and appoint another with excellent write ups and you're moaning because the official website hasn't run a news item on it?

Pre-season starts tomorrow, no coaching staff in yet.

What a joke.

Aside from the Coaching staff, aye.

I'm waiting to renew to see if I'm going to have to go and suffer the delights of Ameobi and Williamson on a weekly basis.

AKA Gloryseeking

I fucking hope ST sales are down. The atmosphere is so much better when all the fairweather fickle fans fuck off. A lot of the boycotters seem to forget 36'000 to see our first Championship game, and only 43'000 back for the first Premier League game. 42'000 for the game against Fulham in the season when we finished fifth.

Almost as if these people only come out of the woodwork when Newcastle are winning....

Why has it taken so long for Ian Cathro to be confirmed?

For some reason Newcastle seem to take ages to confirm these things. Colback and Janmaat's unveiling pics were leaked days before they were confirmed. Edit - More likely that they'll all be announced at once.

Also enlighten me why the 'shit coaching staff' only applies to certain players? You always hear about certain players having to 'endure' coaching staff but not others. For example no one is saying Williamson will be world class with better coaches next year.

Cabella is ineffective on the wing. He's absolutely anonymous in the middle. I can't recall a thing of note in he's ever done while central. Likewise Marveaux plays far too deep to be considered an AMC,

Practically every good victory we had last year Ameobi, Obertan and Aarons were playing. Because they all have the pace to hurt teams. Newcastle's good run of form last Autumn was simply because Newcastle started playing with pace and width (And a proper DM).

Gouffran unfortunately looked like a man devoid of confidence and simply playing in tactics that didn't suit him. He's still a reasonable enough footballer.

Newcastle have a much larger first team squad than most.

Krul, Darlow, Elliott

Janmaat, Haidara, Dummett, Colo, Lascelles, Williamson, Taylor,

Colback, Anita, Sissoko, Tiote, Abeid, Aarons, Ameobi, Cabella, Gouffran, Obertan, Marveuax

Riviere, De Jong, Cisse, Perez.

A 25 man squad is still pretty big.

That Cathro bloke is getting a god write up. - A quick glance and his CV does look impressive.

There's absolutely no chance of us finishing there, without significant investment anyway.

Which Mike Ashley won't provide and Lee Charnley isn't competent enough to use anyway.

The fact we haven't got any backroom staff speaks volumes.

Does it? Going two weeks without an assistant and a first team coach during the summer?

Falcao's main problem is he spent approximately 90% of his time on the pitch on the floor, in the process of falling over, or standing back up after having fell over.

He's probably the worst striker I can remember playing for United in recent memory. He was utter piss and it was nothing to do with not being suited to United he was just dire.

That's because LvG is a tactical dinosaur who can't handle good, attacking players. Under a more progressive manager Falcao won't fall over as much.

They really missed out there. Fairly certain they rejected a buy-out offer from City for their percentage too.

Really hope it works out for him, I'm not convinced based on the last few seasons though. Apparently Sherwood might be using him as a CB?

Weirdly every shite club sees Micah Richards as a messiah at CB. Because he had a good 3 months at RB 4 years ago.....

Carr is the 'higher ups', and he seems one of two men who get away with it. He's suffered absolutely no consequences, for a lot of bad signings.

Can actually imagine, Pardew asking for Charlie Austin last summer, and Charnley and Carr telling him that he wasn't cosmopolitan enough, and signing Riviere and Ferrerya instead.
