MATCHDAY 27
Took the foot off the pedal a bit and still won with relative simplicity. Ortiz was the centre of attention again, helping himself to the first from yet another Maiorov cross while also assisting for Avetisyan who broke into double figures for goals this season. Scoreline flattered Alashkert in truth, they were barely holding on for two.
That's what happens when you have heavy artillery in your arsenal.

MATCHDAY 26
Thankfully another of my former sides actually cooperated in this mission, submitting to us with a whimper. Krzysztof Brosz and Alberto Ortiz worked in tandem with one another in the first half, finishing each other's moves for 2-0 comfort at the break. No fear in losing the lead, Erebuni only tested our keeper once all game and Ortiz made a mark on their back line with a third to officially chisel our name on the prize for the 27th time. The Phoenixes rise again! CHAMPIONS!
Mark my words, this guy is going places. Tore the league a new ARSE, and by ARSE I mean Assists Record Smashed Easily.
Good achievement, but let's be honest a lot of these sides wouldn't score in a month of Sundays.

MATCHDAY 25
Pfft. Banants had to rain on the parade as a win would have sealed the title, but no the wait goes on. Former friend Olivier Kabura laid in the first arrow while Martirosyan and Muradyan had us struggling for air in one way traffic. A mini resurgence was almost on the cards when the midfield dynamic duo of Filic and Brosz had Banants against the ropes. The juggernaut approach of course never pays off in FM, such as a red card for right back Hovhannisyan left us in a lurch while a rocket from Gevorg Sarkisyan finished us off. You win this round, but we'll still have our fingers wrapped around the handles of the Հայաստանի Բարձրագույն Խումբ trophy.

ANKAKHUT'YAN GAVAT'
FINAL
Second piece of silverware on the line, will we become Armenian cup champions for the fifth time in six years?
Yes, but holy bejaysus was this a terrible game. I sh*t you not, the goal was the only highlight of the game and thankfully went our way to the heartbreak of the Gandzasar support. From a corner, the ball fell to Avetisyan who had Ivan Maric propped as a human shield to deflect it into the net for an own goal. Feel sorry for the bears, not that they lost the game but having to sit through 90 minutes of this trash.

MATCHDAY 24
Not as close from the meeting three days prior, then again Ararat were plagued with key injuries. Went tactical avant-garde in a 4-4-1-1 system in Ortiz's absence to leave Tevosyan leading the line ahead of Avetisyan, which worked a treat. Mind, it took time to eventually break them down but Avetisyan made a statement with a darting run on the back of Tevosyan's through ball for a relieving breakthrough. Although Avetisyan missed a similar opportunity moments later, Tevosyan wrapped up the points with a strong header from Maiorov's cross. Milosevic's late goal didn't faze us and put us one step closer to another trophy engraving.
RESULTS OVERVIEW
The number of games eventually caught up with us in April, succumbing to our first defeat but wasn't all bad. Four league wins plus claiming a cup final date, just a shame Koshoian had an unfortunate injury to miss the run in. Ortiz did very well as leading striker but without doubt Alexandr Maiorov was a cut above with nine assists this month. NINE!
LEAGUE TABLE
Shirak were hoping we'd falter after the 4-2 defeat but it only made us stronger and fate caught up with Shirak by losing to Alashkert to open up a sturdy eight point lead with only four games to go. Might as well hand us the title now.
MAY 2045 SCHEDULE
The Ankakhut'yan Gavat' final sets the scene for the final run in. Banants, Erebuni, Alashkert, Gandzasar - all very winnable. To throw eight points from here would be blasphemous.

SEMI FINAL, SECOND LEG (AWAY)
Drama at the Ararat Stadium, sweating to an extra time win to reach the cup final. Their two away goal advantage left us in an sensitive position and needed to wipe it out ASAP. Ortiz and Karasev did just that, Alberto dribbling with finesse past two defender while Evgeny had the fortune of the post guiding his low shot in away from the keeper. Didn't take long for Ararat to respond with a top corner finish by Adamyan getting their foot in the door. Reminiscent of the first leg, Ararat carved us open to remove our two goal lead - Hairlahovic the culprit which the keeper really should've done better with. So extra time it went and fatigue tested the home side hard, two players hobbled off to leave them with nine men and of course we exploited it. Maiorov yet again made the magic happen, squaring to both Tevosyan and Ortiz for the final curtain closer. Onwards to another cup final!
Ortiz took one for the team but sadly is ruled out for the league return.
Honestly, this guy could assist in brain surgery he's that good.
FINAL DRAW
The date with destiny is confirmed against Gandzasar for a potential treble that lies on the table.

MATCHDAY 23
We'll survive without the Kosh if we play like this week in week out. Incinerated Shenghavit for five with Ortiz taking the responsibilities up front. Ortiz opened the floor and assisted two for the returning Avetisyan to be in cruise control. Another masterpiece free kick by Filic made it four and to top it all off Sargis Barseghyan got involved in the goal soirée. All too easy.

MATCHDAY 22
28 league games unbeaten, finally brought to a dramatic end by our arch rivals Shirak. Despite an early birthday goal for Alberto Ortiz, Shirak always looked like scoring - Oleg Burkov wiped the smug looks off our face as half time approached. Second half and Shirak looked like a different animal, romping to the lead plus extending it in the space of seven minutes by Gajic and Karapetyan. Ortiz's efforts were admirable to fight back to 3-2 and were close to getting something but the black panthers were too sharp on the break and trapped us with Karapetyan blasting home in injury time to hand us our first defeat of the season. All good things must come to an end.
And way to kick a man when he's down. Huge blow to our top scorer who'll struggle to be fit again for the rest of the season. Disaster.

SEMI FINAL, FIRST LEG (HOME)
First half fiasco led to great entertainment, but from a professional point of view it was anything but. More carved than Boxing Day turkey from some eloquent footwork by Arsen Bdoyan whose shot was too powerful for Kovalev to keep out. Arthur Tevosyan was the preferred option up front and did not let me down, being in the right place at the right time for two goals in ten minutes to tighten grip on the tie. Poor marking handed Ararat a second away goal on the night; a ball slid into Stepanov for an easy finish to keep it firmly in the balance. Second half was a spectacular disappointment.

MATCHDAY 21
Not pretty, but the result went our way. Both sides seemed afraid to open up and hindered the game's progression. It took for one key moment to get the decisive winner, yet again Maiorov commanding the left channel to set up a low cross which Koshoian rammed home to the delight of the away support. Mbognou's interceptions were so vital to keeping Gandzasar out.

MATCHDAY 20
Cool, calm, collected, even with ten men. Teenager Maiorov continued to excel on the left wing with two more assists to his name, setting up Ortiz for the opener. Then came a conundrum, Avetisyan's leg breaker of a challenge had us outnumbered going into the second half, but it didn't halt us. Koshoian returned from a mini injury spell to slip in Sargis Barseghyan for number two and that man Maiorov crossed for Karasev after some horrendous goalkeeping laid it into his path. Coasting to the title by the looks of it.
Ortiz ruled out for the next game however.

MATCHDAY 19
Didn't slow us down against Erebuni, Avetisyan stepping up to the plate after recent complaints about wanting a new deal. He proved his worth with two on the day as we let fly in the second half with Ortiz, Karasev and Tevosyan burying the bottom side. Four assists from our wingers who were excellent going forward. Erebuni pulled one back but immediately a red took them down a peg again. Never in doubt.
RESULTS OVERVIEW
Another truckload of goals scored, but defensively we're looking brittle. The Banants game in particular was a warning shot to how we need to improve on that front. It was all about the midfield this month, all looking so dangerous bombing forward.
LEAGUE TABLE
With Shirak slipping up against Ararat, it widens the gap to six points as we look that bit more comfortable at the top. Surely, we've got this in the bag, especially how far we've come going unbeaten.
APRIL 2045 SCHEDULE
A lot busier next month with seven games, almost half of them against Ararat. The cup semi final legs take a slight backseat as we aim to get the league done and dusted. Smack bang in the middle is that face to face feud against Shirak, perhaps the only side to hand us admonitions in the run up. First up though, two away days at Alashkert and Gandzasar.
Final bit of news - ORTIZ FINALLY CAPPED INTERNATIONALLY!

MATCHDAY 18
We have ourselves to blame, leaving the door ajar for Banants to fight back from two down. It was total dominance up to that point with silky passing movement setting up Ortiz with the first and Karasev with the second, already thinking job done. Hit the woodwork three times in total frustration in not closing the game out, which ultimately let to punishment. Rafael Ghazaryan was the saint who came off the bench to bag both Banants goals, one of which was a scorcher from long range as full time approached. Deflating, hope it doesn't lead to abnormalities in the league table.

MATCHDAY 17
Returned to the league with a close shave, nabbing three points from Ararat. The pendulum swung in every direction, starting with Avetisyan powering in after just nine minutes. Ararat were bossy and took the wind out of our sails completely with a half time lead; Hakobyan with a free kick and a glaring defensive error let in their top scorer Stepanov for 2-1. Fought fire with fire in the second half, countering a set piece and Hayk Koshoian continued where he left off with an acute finish and then took the lead with Karasev on the second attempt after a beautiful cross by Maiorov. The lead was short lived after giving away a penalty which a different Hakobyan sent Kovalev the wrong way but the drama didn't end there. Another counter attack set us on our way with Koshoian squaring to Ortiz for the eventual winner. Welcoming a new year of football in entertaining fashion.

TRANSFERS
IN
With not a huge amount to strengthen, we opted for just one buy during the winter transfer window - a defensive one.
Georges Mbognou - D(C) - unattached free agent
A tall and rather experienced Cameroonian international who'll no doubt be a key focus to aerial battles. Ox-like strength and bravery will make it a striker's nightmare to evade him. His technical game is okay but definitely not ball playing defender quality with 4 passing and 1 vision, might make his passes a little sporadic but I've faith in him to keep the number of goals down.
YOUTH INTAKE
The new fauna have gathered too. Two players may already be at a level for first team football, but the catch 22 is they may just not progress much further than a 4* player overall.
Karen Arzumanyan - AM(C) - youth intake
Not mind blowingly good but definitely has a good platform to improve. Technique and flair are top notch already, just needs to sharpen up on the rest of his abilities and could make it as a trequartista if he's lucky.
Ortiz finally ready to be eligible for the Armenian squad. Might finally get a shot at international football.

MATCHDAY 16
Fuming, this was an embarrassment. Minnows Shenghavit battled hard to win an unlikely point and it could have been a lot worse if it weren't for a late goal to spare our blushes. Despite our dominance, Shenghavit were playing for the counter attack and one hopeful ball undid us completely; backup keeper Kovalev came well out of his area, completely misjudged the ball and hit it straight at Vorobjov for an easy tap in. With our long standing unbeaten run under threat, it was a similar goalkeeping misjudgement which grabbed a late sweaty equaliser; Muradyan's long ball has met first by Koshoian's head that looped over the stranded keeper who was nowhere near it. A huge relief but such a bad result.
Even seeing this doesn't make me feel happy.
RESULTS OVERVIEW
The Shenghavit result put a dampener on what was a stellar month with some important wins over top sides. Koshoian with seven goals this month.
LEAGUE TABLE
The five point gap we built after beating Shirak is reduced to only three again so still all to play for. Big gap now to third so it's fair that we can rule anyone else out as challengers.
MARCH 2045 SCHEDULE
Escaping the brumal weather for numerous weeks before returning to footballing matters in March. Three games await; Ararat will probably be the only 'test', while Banants and Erebuni will fall into place quite easily...I hope.

MATCHDAY 15
Here I was expecting a Gladiatorial grudge match, instead turned out to be men versus boys. Didn't even need our strikers on form either, both wingers put in the shifts today; firstly with Karasev shepherding the ball through a sea of bodies during a messy goalmouth scramble and Kara turned provider for young prodigy Maiorov to completely kill the game. Three clear cut chances, four half chances, twice hit the woodwork, Shirak were completely overwhelmed and overpowered by us.

MATCHDAY 14
Gandzasar were a lot harder to crack. Strategic game of chess eventually saw it's first piece taken which Krzysztof Brosz took with grace, aimed low and central to give the keeper little chance of reaching with twenty minutes left. It got worse for the visitors when a penalty was awarded seven minutes after, Koshoian stripped Ortiz of penalty duties and made no mistake to end the game there. Important three points to keep confidence strong before the Shirak clash.
Absolute hunk of a man.
Would be foolish not to give the guy an early holiday gift. Santa also threw in a cheeky minimum release clause to make it that bit more Christmassy.

MATCHDAY 13
Well..this was carnage, showing absolutely no mercy to 10 man Alashkert. Alberto Ortiz drew the first goal quickly before Alashkert swiftly responded, that's where it all went chaotic. Four minutes, three goals and a red card before half time, Hayk Koshoian took centre stage yet again and wasn't even out of second gear until after the half. Another three goals in nine second half minutes took his tally to five goals before taken off to a roaring standing ovation for his replacement Tevosyan. The sub finished off the blitzkrieg with a penalty for a frantic 7-2 win. 10/10 for Kosh, Ortiz with three assists, just a joy to behold.
We don't just break records, we smash them, torch them and incinerate the ashes.

MATCHDAY 12
Similar to the Banants game, it took a lot of probing before turning the screw against my other former side. Milko Filic scored in consecutive games for the first time, delivering a wonderful free kick before the hour to finally draw blood. Erebuni had a lot of possession but could do nothing with it other than getting caught on the break, and Arthur Tevosyan punished them for their errors with a composed curler into the corner. Not bad from our stand in loanee striker.
RESULTS OVERVIEW
Practically a perfect month ignoring the cup draw. Hayk Koshoian is already at nineteen goals for the season and we've not even hit November yet, what a machine. Ortiz is contributing now and again, but does have the odd bad day at the office.
LEAGUE TABLE
Usurped Shirak at the top in a real nip tuck battle. Thankfully a defeat to Gandzasar at the start of the month was the cause. Gandzasar still fighting away in third but sadly their efforts will be in vain.
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2044 SCHEDULE
Tricky little run in before the winter break, but it's home sweet home for most. Gandzasar and Shirak will be potential bananaskins in between the Alashkert/Sheghavit matches which in theory should be guaranteed points.

MATCHDAY 11
Banants tried but could do nothing to derail our season, buckling under second half pressure to lose all sights of a result. It was perhaps against the run of play where the first goal came out of, Koshoian (who else?) to finish in off the post with aid of a flapping Harutyunyan in goal. Parity was restored when we were sliced open too deep and despite three defenders around him, Narek Ghazaryan finished from close range. Ortiz up top had a day to forget, a penalty miss before the half time whistle summarised it pretty well. Nevertheless, the goals flowed in the second half from our midfield. A 35 yard thunderbolt from Krzysztof Brosz flew in before Filic tucked away one of Maiorov's speciality crosses. That definitely broke a sweat.

QUARTER FINAL, SECOND LEG (HOME)
With one foot already in the semis, it was a low key, slower tempo affair with the fringe players out in force and still managed a result. The game had chances, but somehow seemed so disorganised that it was almost difficult to follow who'd score first. Hint: it was us, and it took a moment of class from Ortiz to unlock the door with a low drive into the corner. Former Banants player and colleague David Ghazaryan had a bittersweet moment of scoring against me, but had no effect on the end result.
SEMI FINAL DRAW
Ararat in the semis, who beat Shirak in the quarters. Won't be easy.

Koshoian? Man's not hot. Man's absolutely blazing right now. Yet. Another. Hattrick! Both himself and Ortiz worked in perfect harmony with magnetic passing to one another with Ortiz also getting in on the fun. Ararat had chances but nothing portentous as we stroll to 21 league games unbeaten.

Handed Shenghavit another wet towel slap, so did Hayk Koshoian. Third hat-trick in six games for the Kosh, but he also did miss a penalty in this game which was a little concerning. Muradyan came up from centre back to head in the other goal of the game in what was frankly a brave attempt by the league's bottom dwellers.
Muradyan's curse of scoring is that he'll have to sit out the next two games or so. Just kidding, it's an international break so no fear necessary.

MATCHDAY 8
Nearly had to eat my words from my previous comments, fought to the death to preserve our unbeaten streak. A mistake by Mihov allowed access for Goran Mijic for Shirak's first of the game, quickly dashed by Ortiz's effort moments later. Shirak pulled all the strings and Mijic doubled his tally with eight minutes to go to surely hand them the three points. Maiorov proved his new contract's worth with a delicious inswinging cross on the surface met by a tap in for Koshoian who broke free from his marker to dramatically equalise. Just shows that we do have competition in this league.
RESULTS OVERVIEW
Still unbeaten, despite a few scares at Gandzasar and Shirak. It was all about Hayk Koshoian's shower of goals, scoring nine in five and combines sensationally with Ortiz - a partnership that's bruising sides left, right and centre.
LEAGUE TABLE
Neck and neck, dropping down to second but lie only a point behind Shirak. Hoping they slip up something fierce so we can capitalise as we're the only side not to lose a league match.
OCTOBER 2044 SCHEDULE
Nothing too sinister, Ararat and Banants should be okay while Shenghavit and Erebuni will be a breeze. Couldn't give a toss about the cup second leg, Alashkert aren't going to score four let alone win by four.

FINAL
Almost a carbon copy of the 3-0 league win, minus Shirak's ability to cause problems. Avetisyan took a punt from the edge of the area to hand us the lead, a second half penalty neatly dispatched by Koshoian and topped off with Sargis Barseghyan driving low into the bottom corner for our first piece of silverware in Armenia at long last. Shirak hit the bar to rattle us for a nanosecond but honestly had nothing to add. Can we aim for a clean sweep?

QUARTER FINAL, FIRST LEG (AWAY)
A striking masterclass as we eased to a first leg win over Alashkert. Koshoian is having a knack for goals lately, seven in three including two hat-tricks. Hayk and Ortiz were like a beautiful chemical reaction together to well and truly bulldoze them aside. Tevosyan came off the bench to assist Ortiz for the fourth. No sweat for the second leg.
HAYASTANI SUPERGAVAT'
FINAL DRAW
The super cup draw took place and pitted us against Shirak for our next game. First success imminent?
