I thought it was clear that teams are finding ways to beat tiki taka, and beating them well. Bayern last season and Brazil at the Confederations Cup last summer are great examples. I think Guardiola is making a mistake by thinking that he can just use the same system all the time and carry on winning. I'm not saying he should use the exact system that Bayern used last season, but use it as a starting point and just tinker with it a bit. I guess next season will be better for them though as they'll be more familiar with the system and have Lewendowski up front.

Fair enough, I still largely disagree but I can see where you're coming from.

Interesting that.

Which doesn't mean that a) its good to watch or b) it has a future.

I never said it was good to watch, I'm just commenting on the suggestion that Tiki-Taka is crap and that Guardiola should have known that because Barça were beaten by Bayern last year, because that's absurd.

2 seasons in a row now a team attempting to play it has been torn to shreds in a Champions League semi final and basically every team in world football knows that you can sit off a team, give them no space in behind whatsoever and then hit them on the break with pace.

That's all well and good as an idea but it's considerably harder to actually put that theory into practice successfully. Bayern and Madrid have managed it but they managed it against teams that, frankly, weren't at their best and in Bayern's case this year arguably weren't that suited to it.

I think its done at the top level.

I disagree.

Or it could be Ronaldo vs Mourinho in the season that we lost the great Eusebio.

I don't get why Guardiola had to try and change the style of play for Bayern. Their style of play last season was good enough to thump the Barcelona tiki taka crap 7-0, but he still thinks the tiki taka is better. Makes no sense.

Maybe because the 'tiki taka crap' has seen Spain and Barça win 2 European Championships, a World Cup, 2 Champion's Leagues and a handful of other trophies?

What's next for Pep? With 0 goals in 180 minutes using his way of football against the first real test of the season. Surely this must be a wake up call that he has to adapt or die.

You're really laying it on thick tonight.

Bayern's defending was hilariously bad today. I'm glad it's finally come back to bite them though, any club that starts with Jerome Boateng doesn't deserve to win the Champions League.

I remember Zoli being vehemently against Modric. Absolutely class player these days.

Yeah but Zoli's an idiot.

Go on then, I couldn't care less what people think about him to be honest. Lamela's spent most of the season injured, making just 9 appearences, so i'm waiting until next season before I judge him.

Yeah, it's bizarre how quickly people seem to have decided that Lamela's a failure.

Kompany's living off City's last title run. Been poor in last two seasons, whether that's due to generally not being that great or constant switching of defensive partners I don't know.

He's still been sporadically brilliant since then but between the constant injuries and reshuffling in defence he's really struggled for consistency over the last two seasons.

I personally wouldn't have had Kompany in there tbh. Whilst still a fantastic defender he has made quite a few mistakes this season in the league and been quite inconsistent and not up to his usual standard. But at the same time im not sure who else to put there, its not really been a great season for defending. Maybe one of Davies, Koscielny or Terry? I dunno. Also think Azpilicueta has flown under the radar at LB but I agree with Shaw. And i would've given GK to Marshall who has made some ridiculous saves this season. De Gea has established himself really well and Cech and Begovic has also been as consistent as ever but I like an underdog.

Yeah, I wouldn't have had Kompany in there either tbh. Would definitely have had David Silva ahead of Lallana too.

That was surprisingly easy for an away game at a Pulis team.

Souness is a weird character

Yeah, a bit odd. I think there were a couple of good points mixed in there though.

Maybe a hyperbole, but still, we've had David Moyes this season. You must understand our pain. (I know you had Mark Hughes, but y'know)

I understand you've had a bad season but to say you've suffered is pushing it

This.

So enjoyable that match, the atmosphere was far better, players looked happy, just what we needed. I know people will say 'it was only Norwich' but we've suffered so much this season, it was so nice seeing the old United again.

What?

Anybody think that Lambert will get the sack this summer? there seems to be growing unrest amongst supporters groups.

Not sure that he will but he definitely should. There's barely been any progress since last season and Villa look terrible.

Touchy. And when youre constantly bringing up how we have luck on our side then I will assume youre blaming your lack of luck

I don't remember 'constantly' saying you have luck on your side. Why would you make that assumption anyway? They're completely unrelated.

If you want to blame you not winning the league on luck etc then be my guest

Stop putting words in my mouth, you cunt. That wasn't my point at all. If we don't win the league it'll be because of a combination of a number of factors: Too many losses early in the season, way too many injuries, consistent lapses in concentration in key games and Liverpool's ridiculous winning streak.

None of that though has anything to do with the idea that luck evens itself out. An idea which is complete bollocks.

Naah it evens itself out. Mistakes and luck is part of the game

No, it doesn't. All sides experience mistakes and luck but that doesn't mean it evens out.

How does Liverpool doing lots of attacking, for example, stop the referee incorrectly not sending off Suarez or not giving 2 penalties alone in the City game?

Liverpool have had a very, very good season and probably play the most watchable football in the league but to deny that a lot hasn't gone their way, whether it be in terms of referees decisions, complete lack of injuries to key players or even the coincidental non existence of any real top quality teams to challenge them just doesn't stack up.

They can still be deserving champions whilst acknowledging that virtually everything that could have gone their way this season has done, with possibly the exception of their disappointing summer transfer window.

That's pretty much spot on for me.

Bigger clubs get more decisions from referees. Man City have had more than their fare share this season.

And we've also had more than our fair share of shocking decisions from referees with offside goals losing us matches, and potential leg-breakers going virtually unpunished.

The Guardian say United have won the race to sign Luke Shaw, for £30M.

He's good, but £30M good? Then again, Southampton aren't exactly going to sell him cheaply.

Not only a £30m fee but £100k p/w in wages. He's a good player and looks like he'll improve but that's a helluva lot of money.

Could go to Atletico but I doubt he's got a good enough game to actually fit in there.

If Adrían can play there as long as he has then Hernández can too.

How big a problem do you people think it is that Rooney is bigger than the manager?

Pretty major. It wouldn't be ideal at any time, but he's not enough good enough to be bigger than the manager.

By calling the ref biased?

By generally being quiet, calm and respectful - unlike Mourinho all the time and to a much lesser extent, Brendan Rodgers recently - It's far preferable to listening to gobshites mouthing off all the time. His rant after the Barça match was blatantly out of character and that was one of the reasons it was so notable.

You keep trying to be awkward though, Shola

That's overstating it but I don't blame you for not wanting him.

Nasri has a worse face than Dzeko so it's his fault

I blame them both.

Cardiff City: Crystal Palace result should not stand, says Welsh club

Nasri's missed sitter last night cost us the league. And he'd be doing so well this season

Or Dzeko's did, depends how you look at it. The reality is we didn't deserve to win that match, we were out-played by Sunderland for far too long.
