#450491 WE NEED YOUR THOUGHTS - SUSIE On Tour

Unfortunately, and despite what would look like a decent performance if almost everybody hadn't done much better, he wasn't back with a vengence.
In theory, there would be nothing to be ashamed of with that run in real life but, unfortunately, apart from the Sweden game in QF, we hardly deserved to win any of these games. Much of my problems came from the fact that, once we played extra-time against Columbia in the round of 16, my players never seemed to recover much fitness, even those who stayed on the bench. I assume this has something to do with what I'd call my 'over enthusiastic' style of play.
One Columbia player made a Caballero-like mistake and we didn't deserve to get anything out of the Uruguay game but, inexplicably, Cavani injured himself just before the final whistle, when they had already made three substitutions.
But the bottom line is, when you start a World Cup final with your best players at 80% and a couple of long-term injuries, well... you just know this isn't going to end well. And it didn't. The only interesting thing to come out of that game (if you're a glass half-full kind of person) is that on a few occasions, by the time one of my players had turned around to receive the ball, he already had three Belgium players pressing him. It made me laugh.
Oh well...
Onto the scoring then:
World Cup:
Winners – 50pts
Runners Up - 40pts
Semi Finals – 30pts
Quarter Finals – 20pts
Second Round - 10pts
Out In The Group - -25pts
Extra:
Scalps – Beat Brazil or Germany - 5pts per win (Competitive games only) NOPE
Awards – Manager of Tournament, Player of the Tournament, Top Goal Scorer – 5pts each NADA
Sacked - -25 pts and the challenge is over AVOIDED THAT PARTICULAR DISGRACE (they were actually quite happy with me which proves that they probably didn't bother to watch the games)
BONUS!
Goals - 2pts per goal in the tournament 14 goals x 2 = 28pts
Penalty Shootout - 5pts per shootout win DIDN'T GET THAT LUCKY
Highest Scoring Team across all entries to SUSIE On Tour: HA HA HA
That's a measly 68pts for me.

World Cup Qualifying
Oddly enough, from the beginning my problem wasn't in defence but rather in attack. With a half-decent striker, I honestly think we would have trounced Ghana twice. The less said about the Congo game, the better however. At the time, I honestly thought that if I could find someone to play upfront, I could get something out of the team, even if Salah wasn't setting the world alight.
CHAN
That's where it all began to go pear-shaped, I'm afraid. By the time the CHAN was on, I already knew Lady Luck had thrown us in a World Cup group with Brazil, Spain and Scotland. The only worse draw I could think of involved Wales instead of Scotland because of Bale. In my opinion, the Home Nations have always been completely over-rated in FM. So I knew there was absolutely zero chance for us to get out of that group.
That means the CHAN was my last hope to score some points. Changing more than half the squad wasn't the real challenge here, since I wasn't happy with my attacking line to begin with. However, losing Obama, another poor sod whose name I can't remember and Ibrahim to injury really put a dent in my hopes. The one team I didn't want to face was Angola because they have a half-decent league so, of course, we got them in the second round. And guess what? We couldn't score to save our lives.
World Cup
By the time the World Cup started, we had reached a whole new level of crap. The two center backs I had used for most of my tenure injured themselves with their respective clubs a couple of months before the tournament, as did Sobhi. We still managed to have some impact on the competition by taking down a couple of high-profile players, including Iniesta. Apart from that, the gap in class (and, I have to admit, managerial ability) was so huge that we didn't even register a shot on target against Scotland (who looked better than Brazil) and Spain.
The only saving grace was that I, surprisingly, wasn't fired. If it'd been Federation President Manager, I would have fired myself after such a miserable showing in front of the world but, either the guys have zero ambition or they realised that there was nothing to be done.
Is it sour grapes if I mentioned that Croatia beat Mexico in the World Cup Final which, in my opinion, isn't the most likely of outcomes...?
Anyway, onto the scoring:
World Cup Qualification - 20pts
AFCHAN - Quarter Finalist - 0pts
World Cup - pathetic group stage exit - 0pts
Sucking at your job - (fortunately) 0pts
That's a grand total of 20pts, if I'm not mistaken.

It is my ambition to be that character here, so I'm boldly (if I may say so myself) throwing my proverbial hat in the ring, in the guise of Zoran Vulic (who remains a legend for middle-aged Hajduk fans such as myself)!
Proof that I'm used to mediocrity, I wasn't that disappointed with their defense. It's more the lack of depth and useful stats on most of the players that worries me. Also, It's a bit of a one-man team.
Anyway, I'll be back shortly to cover myself with ridicule, miserable results and poorly-cut screen views.
In the meantime, good luck to everyone!
