Subscribe » https://bit.ly/RPJ_Football ******************** This tactic is based on the system used in our Evain save which helped us defeat Marseille 3-0 and sadly lose to Rennes, even though we had the better of both teams statistically. The focus is to disrupt play by pushing high to force long balls, where our back 7 players can win the first or second balls, leading to counterattacks. We also want the backline to be higher up the pitch and condense the space, making it harder to play through the middle and forcing the ball wide or over the top. Winning the lower leagues back to back to back with nothing but the top tier in sight was something to behold. Making it back to Europe and even winning the league and even beating Salzburg is just the cherry on top. I would love to see how far we could get as I think there was a real chance at becoming a true powerhouse in the league and with the European exploits of Rapid and Salzburg there was a chance that Strum Graz and others could join in and we could become a truly formidable league. We finally managed to be RB Salzburg thanks to a world-class goal but then just a few games later drop points to Strum Graz. That drops us 4 points off of the top spot, but we do have 2 games in hand which gives us just enough wiggle room to take the top spot back and that starts with a game against SC Austria Lustenau. We take on the perennial strugglers as we look to close the gap and after that continue our Europe League campaign as we take on PFC Ludogorets Razgrad in our first European Away Day of the season. Subscribe » https://bit.ly/RPJ_Football ******************** After last season, Wolves looked dead and buried an already thin squad, that was picked off even more in the summer by Saudi Clubs and a team in clear decline. That was until Bournemouth surprisingly sacked Gary O’Neil at the end of the season leading to Wolves hiring the Englishman. This has been a stroke of genius as with this small squad he has worked wonders. Currently having his side sitting in 9th place and playing some lovely football. O’Neil has achieved this through a few key ideas. First, he wants to be very proactive with the ball, always aiming to move the ball forward over maintaining possession. Second, he wants his team to be compact and strong defensively giving them a strong platform to attack from. Finally utilizes the pace and dribbling abilities of his players to progress the ball up field and dominate teams on the counter. This is done a few ways, but the main way O’Neil looks to do this is through a hybrid formation. His team will set in a 3-4-2-1/3-4-3 at most times but when he is in possession it changes to a 4-4-2. With the LWB Ait-Nouri pushing up to act as a LM, LCB Toti Gomes moving higher and wider to be a LB, RWB Semedo dropping a little deeper to become an RB, and finally, RAM Sanarbia or Neto will drift wider on the right to become a RM. This allows the team to have more bodies forward and they will then usually look to move it out wide to either Ait-Nouri or Sanarbia/Neto where they can then both carry the ball forward before driving down the line and cross or cut inside to dribble or find a pass. On the left Ait-Nouri likes to run down the line while on the right Sanarbia/Neto tends to cut inside and dribble. As well as looking to combine with Cunha or Hwang. Though Hwang tends to stay much higher and not do much in possession. Mainly offers himself as the run-in behind or makes a late movement in the box so he can get on the end of a cross. This is where the team can also look different if Neto/Sanabria cut inside as Semedo will then go forward and overlap offering the width that is lost and the team will then look more like a 3-1-3-3. This is because the LCM Lemina will usually come forward as well while Joao Gomes prefers to sit and defend. Finally, when it comes to defending Wolves look to do 1 of 2 things. If they are playing a stronger side, they will sit off in a mid to low block looking to defend in their own third, pulling the opposition onto them and creating loads of space in the opposition half where players can run and dribble into once they win the ball. If they are playing a weaker side Wolves will look to press high up the pitch and force long ball out from the back. This is due to the ariel dominance their back three has, especially Dawson. This also helps as both Lemina and Gomes will push up to press so knowing the back three can win it in the air is key. We have new signings, players leaving, players changing around roles, and most interestingly of all a new tactic. We are finally not expected to finish rock bottom of the league but it is only 1 place higher which is funny, especially after our 3rd place finish last season. Now though our aim is automatic promotion after not being able to keep some key players from last season things might be a bit tricky. Fankaty Dabo sent his spot kick into the crowd and Coventry was sent back to the Championship for another season. This meant the loss of many key players including loanees as well. The team was forced to rebuild on a decent budget but after a terrible run of 3 wins in 15 to start the season it means Robins was forced to change from his constant 3-4-1-2 to a 4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1 and boy has it worked! Since then Coventry has been flying going from being in and around the relegation zone to now being within touching distance of the playoffs. We first take on Troyes in a winner takes playoff match at home before going up against 16th place in Ligue 1 who is Toulouse. Now we will be the extreme underdogs but with how we have played this year and especially with how good out defensive tactic has been I have very high hopes for us this time. The only issue is away goals so we have to be careful when planning for this tie. The goal is gonna be all all-out defend at home and then try to play more at their place since our goals will be worth double there. We did loose to Strum Graz but that was expected as they are a better side than us. We will look to keep that run going against Wolfsberger AC who are currently sitting at the bottom of the group but the big game is coming against Austria Vienna in the cup semi-final. The former midfield star has brought some exciting ideas and tactics to the English Championship but after a first-season blitz, the team has gone the complete opposite way the team has underperformed both in terms of XG and XA and has led the team to a lower mid-table position. Carrick’s possession-based style is working really well when it comes to control of games and in terms of creating wide overloads and moving the ball around but when it comes to creating chances and scoring goals the team still struggles a lot. They heavily rely way to much on crosses and moving the ball wide as well as defensively when it comes to issues with pressing as both 6s are too possessionally based and are very poor defensively. However in the end Carrick’s ideas and formational fluidity really make his teams very intriguing to watch and show that he has some great ideas that are being tossed around in the elite levels of football. So we now face off against bitter rivals WSG Tirol as well as league strugglers SRC Altach. Unfortunately now though we have had a bit of a tough run. We lost both Morgan and Van Acker to injuries and thus went 1-1-1 in our last 3 league games and only managed to score 3 goals in 4 games. Quite a miserable stretch which has seen us fall off in the league.
