Thank you so much, everyone this is such an amazing achievement and it only felt fitting to do this with the club I love so much and that gave me my first opportunity to work in pro football. So it's time to look at the Spanish savoir Marti Cifuentes and his tactics at QPR.
In Marti Cifuentes's style of play, possession is key. He emphasizes off-ball movement and encourages his players to look for options that keep the ball in possession rather than clearing it. The team always has multiple options in possession, with players dropping into midfield to create forward passes and the right fullback staying wider to give sideways options, unlike the left fullback who will look to get higher and invert allowing the LW to play centrally or stay wide depending on the scenario. When the ball is played forward, the players around the new ball carrier make runs or small movements to offer passing options. The 9s often make runs in behind the defense, while the 10s make a run through the middle to get on a through ball if possible.
On defense, Cifuentes uses a mid-block to congest the middle of the pitch and make it difficult for the opposition to play through them. The team changes shape from a 4-3-3 to a 4-1-4-1, with the 9 high pressing to stop the opposition from playing long balls over the top. This also forces the opposition to play down a certain side of the pitch. Occasionally, one of the wide players will step out of the block to force the opposition player backward and continue the press with the striker. With so many bodies in this area, the team becomes hard to break down and slows the game down, making it difficult for the opposition to run into space. This forces the opposition team to take their time, playing into QPR's hands and giving them more room to counterattack.
