Oxford City -- Rise to the Top!

Decided I would take on a massive challenge and bring a club all the way from the bottom to the top of English Football (at least the leagues that come standard with the game) So, my club of choice was Oxford City. Went through preseason with them already and have almost gone through September. Below are a few screenshots of the progress so far. Stay tuned for future updates as I continue our quest to make it to the top!

We had a very good October! The month saw us go undefeated in the league and win two different FA Cup matches, taking us into the First round proper of the FA Cup!

A great October lead into a disastrous November. We lost every game we played in the month except for the third round qualifying match for the FA Trophy. Also got knocked out of both cups we were in the running for.

Happy New Years to everyone from Oxford City! Finally we move into 2014 and it couldn't come at a better time! December was another horrible month for the club but we did end it on a positive by winning the final two games of the month and calendar year!

December also saw a player depart the club, CB Lee Henderson. I was a little shocked when he handed the transfer request to me, but I agreed to let him go. We even acquired some money for him which was tremendous! He never made it into my match day squad so it really wasn't a hard decision to let him go.



Six more league games in the month of December and no cup games which was nice for sure. Still, we had a very congested last week in the league and the teams stamina sure suffered but we overcame that and ended the month nicely!



Also, not from the fixture list that we seem to have a player on fire right now! John Melligan scored eight goals for us over the course of the month, including four in one match! He also at one point scored four consecutive goals for the team over a two game period!



Below is the table. With the nice run at the end of the month we are back up to 12th in the league! The weak point for sure has been the dense, hopefully that will improve soon!



I figured I would take a moment to talk tactics. I used a 3-6-1 in that game I won 6-1 over Gloucester. I had to switch to using 3 CBs because my teams only LB was suspended for the match. Should I try using this tactic more often since it work so well in this game? Or should I continue to stick to my 4-2-3-1?

It was two tough months! So far January has been a bit better, not back to what I want from this team though. Looks like we kight just have to ride tis year out and come back better next season.

Couple of tough months there but a strong finish and you can get yourself a shot in the play-off's. Enjoying the read mate keep it up.

We move into February and it wasn't a horrible month of January but it wasn't great either. We stayed 12th in the league and saw a few good results go our way.

Two good victories against Barrow & Leamington. Your position at league is not very good but having in it counts the players that you have, is not bad! Good luck!!

Thanks! Considering we were predicted to finish in the relegation zone I'm happy with where we are right now.

A quiet month all around in February. Two wins and two loses sends us up to 11th in the table, up one spot form last month! Also, we failed to score in a match for only the second time this season, having scored the previous 27 matches in a row before the game against North Ferriby.

Its just looking like this wont be our year to move up.

The season has ended, the goal has been achieved to make the board happy. A solid 12th place finish ensures I get to come back next season to try again.

Below you will see who I have chosen as my player of the season.


Melligan had a tremendous season for us. Unfortunately, he was injured for around 5 weeks near the end of the season. He might have done even better for us if it weren't for that.

Overall, we had a pretty good year. I'm pretty happy with this team and am looking forward to coming back next season even stronger. Its going to be a busy off-season for us though as all the players currently at the club will see their contracts run out at the end of June. Now I must sit down with my staff and figure out which players will be back next year and which ones wont.

Tough season buddy, hopeuflly you can build over next season and then challenge for the top spot!
