Sky are reporting West Brom have sacked Alan Irvine.

Wouldn't be a surprise for Newcastle to appoint him and limp to the finish tbh.

My favourite Pardew moment was when he told Pellegrini "shut your noise you old cunt" tbh.

19 games played so half way into the season now. I predicted top 4 would be Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal & Man Utd in that order with West Brom Hull & Burnley. Not too bad, i'm sticking with that and i'll throw in Spurs to come 8th.

Coloccini will get the job as an interim manager until the summer, probably.

He's in a win-win situation there Ashley - fans will support Coloccini as he's a good guy, and we're in no danger of going down.

Rather have him in charge than Pardew, too.

Apparently Coloccini hasn't taken UEFA coaching licenses, nevermind the Pro License Premier League managers must have on general principle.

I don't think appointing him is a good idea, but daft ideas like that appear to the normal at St. James'.

Ah I remember Accrington Stanley getting fined when James Beattie didn't have his badges.

That can easily be worked around by giving him some made up job title instead of manager or head coach while someone with coaching badges gets that job title without actually filling that role.

I'm pretty sure he took some when he was still playing. And is close to/had already obtained his pro license.

Don't think you need it if you're only going to be performing the job short term, either, and UEFA have always granted grace periods to new managers who don't have it. E.g. I don't think either Avram Grant or Paul Ince had it when they started in the Premier Leage.

Bloody hell, no managerial changes from the first game of the season until Christmas and then all this! Gonna be interesting to see who West Brom (this was always going to happen with Irvine, average lower league record, bizarre appointment) and especially Newcastle appoint. And if Pardew can keep Palace up.

Why WBA hired Irvine in the first place is still a mysterioum, yeah.

Love how it's only West Ham and Charlton fans that aren't having a go at Newcastle fans for wanting Pardew gone.

Feel a bit sorry for Irvine. Seems like an impossible job. Take over a team that finished 17th, and given a few outcasts and strays that weren't his pick.

Regarding Pardew, a fairly average manager. Probably taken the club as far as he could. One excellent season, one poor season and 18 months of alright. Nowhere near the disaster some have made him out to be.

The likely list of replacements seem to be underwhelming or unlikely.

I get the impression that alot of Newcastle fans won't be happy regardless of who they get, in many ways they're like Liverpool in thinking the club should always be doing better than is realistic.

Beardsley/Carver til the end of the season then reassess. De Boer intimated he'd be willing to leave Ajax for us at the start of the season but Ashley is unlikely to appoint somebody who he'll have to pay compensation for.

I really wouldn't mind Sherwood - he'd play decent football and keep us in midtable - which is all we're going to be under Mike Ashley. Just don't want any more boring defensive football to watch - I go and pay 600 a season for a season ticket and I'd like to be entertained. Seen way too many games under Pardew where we're camped on our box launching failed counter attack after counter attack through players with 0 attacking quality like Gouffran and Sammy Ameobi.

I get the impression that alot of Newcastle fans won't be happy regardless of who they get, in many ways they're like Liverpool in thinking the club should always be doing better than is realistic.

Not really, midtable is enough for most fans - our form throughout 2014 would have had us relegated most seasons.

I wonder how much money was actually initially placed on Nigel Worthington to create that much movement.

Why are we going of Calendar Years now, rather than footballing years? Newcastle were in the top 10 for pretty much all of last year, and Pardew has left the club far clear of relegation at the halfway point this year.

I don't know who I want, none of the managers that I know sound appealing (Hoddle/Bruce/Sherwood/Pulis) and I honestly don't know enough about the foreign guys (Tuchel/Galtier/DeBoer). Right now I'd rather take a chance on a foreign guy.

I also like a look of that guy at Augsburg.

I'd also be willing to wait until the end of the season for the right man, than appoint the wrong man now.
