"Rooftops" came on shuffle earlier, skipped it out of embarrassment.

Off to listen to more wholesome acts, like Gary Glitter or something.

Is anyone on here a fan of Grimes? Her album kept creeping up on a few 'Best of 2012' lists so I downloaded it, and I've been listening to it non-stop the past few days. Minimalistic trance with floaty vocals over the top.

Oh. I haven't mentioned Bastards yet. I have to admit, I felt a little underwhelmed by Biophilia. It was a very good album, the singing was top notch and the production was ridiculous. But there was something that was missing from it for me.
They put together a full remix album now though and it's pretty spectacular. Album of the year for me.
My two picks:

That Grimes band sound alright, bit annoying though.

I'm so behind with music at the moment, I think I've only listened to one album from this year, but that was Beach House which was fantastic.

It's just one girl. She made the entire album on Garageband, which is very impressive considering how limited the software is.

Sonisphere festival has been cancelled for a second year running as they haven't been able to cobble together a line-up to rival Download's. Metal Hammer

I went to the first UK Sonisphere at Knebworth in 2009 which was brilliant, I was hoping to get a chance to go back but I think two consecutive years of cancelling will kill intrest in the Festival, Especially as Download has such a strangle hold of British rock festivals.

Saw she was performing at a local indie record store around here (Rise in Bristol), never heard of her but her CD's were everywhere (understandably)

If anyone is interested in what it would sound like if someone took Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Beastie Boys and the Beatles and put them all in the same song, I just remembered this exists.

That game had a god tier soundtrack.

Been pimping 1995 on here before, thanks to Spotify I was informed that they've got a new album out. Only a few songs in so far but I like what I've heard so far.

You know Atoms for Peace is named after a Thom Yorke solo song? It's his best solo song for my money. I have no point, just every time I hear the bands name, I think of that song.

Also, J-Pop news. It's kind of pointless but it says something about western culture. You may have heard of the J-Pop group called AKB48. They're basically the most popular "idol group" in Japan. The last 16 songs they've released have gone in at number 1, they have a few different TV shows and also have 88 members, all females aged between like 16 and 23 or some shit. I don't know. I'm getting this all from wiki. Basically there's a bunch of girls making a buttload of money.

Anyway, there's recently been a sex scandal involving a member of said band. It seems that she was spotted leaving a boys hotel room. They may or may not have had sex. That's it. As a result, she's shaved her head to show her regret and is begging not to be kicked off the money train. Idols are a messed up thing. They basically take young girls and ban them from dating or appearing anything other than innocent. They have to be pure, basically. But. One assumes Japanese males are still wanting to have sex with them.

There's no point to this story really. I just find it interesting how a 20 year old having sex can be considered a scandal in Japan while in this part of world, people are making sex tapes to get famous.

Here's a song of theirs. Musically they're not very interesting. Standard J-Pop. Clean cut and ridiculously catchy.
