Because it's not sensible to judge a manager on having a storming few months then a completely abysmal few after that.

It's not sustainable nor healthy.

Mark Ogden claiming that Thierry Henry wasn't the greatest PL player of all time and that people saying he is, is largely a 'London thing'.

Listened to someone on the radio the other week (might have been Savage) saying that Bergkamp was a better player. Can't say I agree.

I thought the modern thing was to pretend Bergkamp was better than Henry?

Bergkamp was my favourite but Henry will always be the best.

Why the need for comparing the two? Two very different players.

People are still buying into the Paul Scholes argument? Vastly overrated ever since he retired. Quality player of course but ridiculously overrated.

I think Paul Scholes remains underrated.

On the other hand I believe people currently overrate Henry because he's recently retired and because he spent the last 4 years of his career playing in a league that nobody watches, so people don't make any judgements based on him in his declining years.

I think there's legitimate arguments for Giggs, Shearer and even Gerrard and Lampard, who people ultimately choose will mostly be based on club colours anyway.

To be fair mate, Barcelona & NYRB don't play in the Premier League

If it was about their careers including outside the Prem then Cristiano Ronaldo would be the best by an absolute landslide

They don't, but people's opinions will be influenced by a player's last few seasons as those memories are fresher, even if they were elsewhere. With Henry you don't get that because most people on this continent haven't actually seen him decline, they just remember his peak.

Thierry Henry scored 50 goals in over 120 games, that's not bad going for a 36/7 year old.

On the other hand, its in a league that makes Bradley Wright-Phillips look like he came from the Premier League with 28 goals in 38 games.

Didn't Pulis leave Palace over a disagreement over transfers? And West Brom have a set up that means the manager doesn't have a great deal of influence in transfers.

Yes. He's apparently going to be allowed more control over the first team than Irvine was allowed though. Not sure why the phrase 'full control' keeps getting used. No manager has full control over transfers.

Good to see Callum McManaman nearly break another guys legs. But I hope no one blames Mcmanaman for it. "I think we've been talking too much about it and it's a bit unfair on a young man to have to suffer that."

God I fucking hate Martinez.

I am sure Liverpool fans could come up with some sort of justification.

Actually witnessed a Scholes vs. Gerrard on Facebook here the other day, and loads of people were going with Gerrard as he 'captained a shit Liverpool side to the Champions League title' and 'would have had plenty of league titles had he gone to Chelsea or Real Madrid when he had the opportunity to join them'. Couple of Man Utd haters among the bunch but still there are people of the opinion that Gerrard is a better player.

Both Falcao and Shaw are exhausted. Adnan coming on though is interesting. Very rusty.

Shaw looked fucked but not too sure if Adnan is the best player to rely on defensively and can't see Herrera offering much in what is a very physical midfield.
