Joe Cooper - Hometown Hero

A young lad from Oxford City who's not so gifted in his physical ability, but compensates for it with his love for the game of Football and becomes the brain of the team.

He didn't play much in his time, however, he did become a shadow of the previous manager, Justin Merritt. Joe would speak to Justin about the tactics and how things should be done and would sometimes lead to success.

As Justin had to attend to several personal matters, Chairman Brian Cox decided to let the Joe become the care-taker of the team as the whole squad knew who he was and knew he had some potential in him to become a manager.

This becomes the beginning of the story of Joe Cooper, the hero of Oxford City.

Oxford City - The Team

Oxford City currently holds 18 players in their first-team.

Having decent depth in the midfield while the rest of the team has a very big depth issue that needs to be fixed during the transfer window.

Godfrey Poku (Team captain), Josh Ashby (Loanee from Oxford FC) and Tyrell Belford are considered the best players of the club.

Oxford City - Friendlies

With a lot of contacting and a lot of convincing, I've managed to garner some of the higher-league teams to play on our turf for friendlies for extra income and more competition to play around with as I organize tactics or the season or even start gelling in new players that I'll be bringing in for this season.

Joe Cooper - The Interview

I was told by the Chairman that I'd be meeting a reporter do some interview for the local paper regarding my unveiling as a manager of the team.

I walked into this small room that had one table and 2 chairs and inside it was a reporter from OxfordMail named David Pritchard.

David Pritchard: Hello Cooper, please take a seat.

Lee Cooper: Thanks for having me. Let's begin.

David Pritchard: With pleasure, do remember to speak loud and clear for the recorder to catch your sentences clearly. Congratulations on being appointed as a manager for Oxford City, a team in your hometown. How does it feel like to manage a team in the city you've grown up in?

Lee Cooper: Well it's an exciting feeling. I've always loved football and always wanted to get involved in it but didn't really had the physical attributes to make it. Hence, being a manager of the game is such an exciting prospect.

David Pritchard: Being just 20 years old, do you think this will be a challenge when managing people older than you?

Lee Cooper: Probably so when it comes to new players, the guys in the current squad knows me well as I've been shadowing Justin Merritt, learning some managerial stuff here and there.

David Pritchard: Are you nervous now that you are not shadowing anymore, but is in the spotlight taking control of every single thing?

Lee Cooper: A little, but I'm confident I can do something to make this team better.

David Pritchard: Is there anything you want to say to the local fans?

Lee Cooper: I've been a fan like every one of you guys as long as I can remember, and I know how you guys want to see this team to be in higher leagues competing with the bigger teams. I share the same vision and desire and I hope I can achieve those goals.

David Pritchard: That's admirable. Thanks Cooper, wishing you the best for your managerial stint.

Lee Cooper: Thanks Pritchard, thanks for having me again.

Our friendlies just showed how weak our team is, but it's at the same time not surprising as we are practically in one of the lowest leagues in England.

I tried to play a fast, direct passing football game however we can see that it does not work that effectively.

I've decided that I will switch it up to a normal pace and possession based play-style

With a lack of back-up goalkeeper, lack of defensive center-backs and right back, and only having 2 strikers, I've went out to do so with some expired contracts.

Signing in some basic staff due to the openings like 2 scouts, a physio and a Head of Youth development

August Summary

https://i.gyazo.com/aa4dbe9c62eeed4b29a54394187fab20.png

With the starting month that I fully take charge of the team, it went pretty well considering the team didn't had much preparation to get used to the new play-style of possession based play-style.

With 7 games during August, we were able to pull off 3 wins, one draw and 3 losses during the month.

Kynan Isaac scoring the most goals during the month, while Shaun McAuly, Bonifcacio Neto, Josh Ashby, Mike Fondop and Scott Davies only scoring once.

September Summary

https://i.gyazo.com/8ed8d888e0935d4d3b07f0284c2d209b.png

On the second month of my stint, the team slowly gelled better with the tactic I imposed.

With 7 games, we pulled off a record of 4 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses. A game improvement from previous month so I'd consider it a positive sign.

Mike Fondop and Josh Ashby both the top goalscorers of the month with 2 goals each, while Jean-Yves Koue, Shaun McAuley and Kynan Isaac contributing one goal.

October Summary

https://i.gyazo.com/314df6ca8725728151be1fd888272ed3.png

For October, the month toned down by one game.

With 6 games in hand, we puled of 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses (one of the games we lost was against St. Albans in the FA Cup replay via Penalties)

Mike Fondop scoring twice this month, while Josh Ashby, Bonifcaio Neto and Kynan Isaac scoring once.

Friendly Fixtures

Well our Friendlies went.. decent I guess?

I mean you can't blame the team for losing since practically the opponents we face are like leagues ahead of us, but I think it went decent cause most of the games we managed to keep it a low scoring game except for Stoke of course.

Transfer Window Summary

https://i.gyazo.com/593a73e4e63d4a1571398e15ba75f99c.png

We made a lot of transfers, just to cover more depth in the team, replace players who didn't believe our club had the same ambitions and them and some youngsters for the future when the people who wants to leave for bigger clubs leave.

https://i.gyazo.com/7deeb04c8174671d3ac030743e2c1f04.png

A lot of the players were not needed either, due do their skills as compared to what we already have and compared to the other teams in the league.

Season Summary

https://i.gyazo.com/b93d37a6db5ac07a9b60e5941ee429ac.png

Another mediocre season of ending around the same area.

Sadly our finishing isn't doing us any justice. Thinking about it our strikers are barely banging in any goals this season.

Not sure whether its the creativity side or is it just really a striker problem.

Joe Cooper - Club Talks and Contract Renewal

Brian Cox: Hey there Joe, take a seat.

Joe Cooper: Thanks Boss.

Brian Cox: I've realized that our club has stagnated yet again, and you've been signing a lot of players recently yet you could not break through that barrier. Why is that so?

Joe Cooper: Well, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm still inexperienced with the job and trying to adapt as fast as possible. We've had some unlucky periods whereby we've been plagued with injuries.

Brian Cox: In the next few years, do you think you can achieve a promotion? The club and fans love you, and I am delighted to have you as a manager for the team, but we need to have a forward-thinking mentality for the best interest of the club.

Joe Cooper: Well, I am very optimistic about that opportunity of bringing us for a promotion although it'll be tough. If you could keep faith in me I'll promise to give my 100% to repay the favor.

Brian Cox: Alright then, I'll take your word for that
