Some seasons Ferrisin'

Against both Chile and Brazil in away friendlies I lost 2-0. But there's a lot to take from these games, first off we created a hell of a lot of chances, in both games we had more shots and more shots on target than the opposition, the strikers just couldn't finish things off.

Right now I'm playing a flat midfield 4132 with three MCs, but I'd like to go towards a more winger based system to get the best from Julian Green, I think he could cause some real damage, especially on the counter.

Friendly games coming up against both Nigeria and France next, expecting a lot better results wise from these matches. Squad wise its much of the same, still missing my better midfielders through injury, no real unknown players bar these two;





I'm fancying Shou Wood from the bench for his pace and determination, could prove very useful while chasing games.

Much of a muchness in the Nigeria and France games. Went down 2-0 to Nigeria and 1-0 to France, in both games we created a load of chances and just couldn't finish them off. It doesn't help matters when my American MLS strikers aren't of a great standard and my European based strikers aren't getting games and are way off being match fit.

Friendly against Belgium to round off the year. By then I'm hoping to have the likes of Michael Bradley back and I think that will make a big difference to things. We're still finding our feet an generally the pool of American talent is quite low.

And the year rounds off. Strikers man, they're costing me games yet again, we are creating so many chances and they are just fluffing them at every opportunity. For the Belgian game I finally got to play my preferred MC trio of Bradley - Diskerud - Morales and it showed, we dominated the midfield completely and with that we dominated possession.



Next years schedule will be tough, horrible start to our qualifying campaign. I've arranged four warm up games for the Copa America and I think they will probably serve as my best shot at getting my European based players some game time before the tournament.

Just wait wee man, the night is always at its darkest just before the dawn.

Have pretty much a full pool of talent for the upcoming Australia game, only two new faces in the squad and both are in as defensive cover.



Good all rounder, I think he could prove invaluable during tournaments thanks to his versatility.



Started the new MLS season splendidly well and he's great in the air, I think I'll start him at CB alongside John Brooks.

Finally, our first win, our first goals. I want to build the team around Green but with his performances I think its still a bit too early for it, I also want to call Freddy Adu up.

Three month break till the start of our World Cup qualifying campaign.

So whereas the last squad featured a bit more defensive cover I'm hoping this one packs more punch upfront.



This kid looks the business, just breaking into the Boca team so he's match fit and that's what I need.



Boyd returned from Europe injured, but he's now fit and scoring for Vancouver.



Finally, Wondo. I wanted to avoid him purely for his age but I can't ignore his MLS goal form, 10 goals in 14 games so far.

Jesus we left it late, was only meant to be one minute of added time. Donovan from the bench causing havoc, has a shot from 30 yards, hits the bar, Williams from nowhere diving header. Beautiful stuff. We love you Donovan.

FM is a funny old game.

FInally a game I can get on board with. International management's where it's at brah, been telling you this for years now.

THE HALF TIME REPORT (insert generic sports WOOOOSHH sound)

First warm up game for the Copa America, I'm 2-1 up vs Internacional. Huge news. Two goals from Altidore, TWO ASSISTS FROM GREEN. THE GREEN MAN DOTH ARRIVE.

Playing some sort of 4231 thingy ma bob with wingers and shit. The Copa America is ours to be won.

I should also note that I'm starting all my players who aren't near match fitness, we have about four warm up games, they will be used to get my players fighting fit for the start of the tournament. I want every player match fit and I want every player to be able to save a say in the tournament.

The system works, just had about a 15% match fitness increase on all my guys after the Internacional game bar Geoff Cameron, but that's because he only made seven appearances last year and they all came from the bench.

We got off to a 3-1 win, Altidore hat trick, muy bueno.

So after a 1-1 draw with Corinthians this is where the fitness of the squad is at before the Copa America, that's not my first eleven by the way, its just me trying to get guys fit. Most worrying players fitness wise are Diskerud (who is coming in with an injury) and Sonora, I'm wanting both to be starters and I need them to be at peak fitness for the big kick off.

Luckily I have two friendlies left, both Diskerud and Sonora will start and will hopefully be fully fit for the Ecuador game. No idea if I've posted my Copa America group but its Ecuador, Paraguay and Chile. I play Chile last, don't want to be going into that game needing a win to stay alive in the tournament.

Overall I was happy with our performances in both games, I do think we'll hit the ground running for the Copa and I do think we'll get out the group. We have the goals in the team but things just aren't going our way, yet.

What can I say? I threw it the oldies, an attack of Dempsey, Wondo and Donovan. And my word. Just look at that shit. The old guard aren't leaving without a fight. Look at how quick Donovan's hat trick came about. This is it, the best game in the history of US soccer. I don't care what happens in the rest of the tournament. Landon bloody Donovan. What a man.

Donovan at 34 is tearing this shit up through the middle, two goals vs Jamaica. That Jamaican side topped their group, beating Brazil along the way, and Landon just gone beat their asses.

I've drawn bloody Ecuador in the semi final, revenge is a dish best served Donovan.

Ach, we threw it away boys and girls. One game too many. That bloody Ecuadorian attack is lethal, so much pace about them.

Still have a 3rd place playoff to play, after that its back onto the World Cup qualifying road.

Overall, good tournament, especially after the start. Although its rather worrying when my attack is composed of two 33 year olds and one 34 year old and the World Cup is still two summers off \o/

Gotta get there first mind you, hard qualifying group remember.

Two very routine victories in my view, leaves us joint top with Mexico with two games left to play. We have to go to the Azteca and get something.
